THR Spring is right around the corner

I understand your hesitation regarding meds, but as they point out here, managing pain helps with healing.

We should have a healthy respect regarding addiction, but most doctors have cut way back on amounts they prescribe and monitor us better now than they once did. And don’t forget ice is also still your friend.

Hope you get some answers and some relief. Take it easy the next few days.

@Josephine do you have that chart you could post again? I think it is what saved me on my knee replacement. Going to make some more ice packs tomorrow with alcohol and water. I will have enough to wrap all around my leg.

@Walkinginthesand my scar is still very swollen and lumpy 6 weeks later. Guess it just takes time to go down. I am having my hair done today ( thank goodness!!!!) So thanks for the heads up, I will be slapping on some makeup!!

Good morning @Walkinginthesand. Hope you are feeling better. Please do call doc for clarification on what to use at this stage. It sounds like they have given you two scripts so that can be confusing.

Last night took my Tramadol script and now today Tylenol. Am great! Thanks for advice. @Mascaramom i don’t like Tylenol with codeine- makes me too groggy. So I had to figure out Tramadol or Tylenol. :chinstroke: I think I got it.

I believe you can even take the 2 together.

Got pain under control! Ice here today, more coming in tonight. I am staying out. Shocked today when I realized I was at 5 weeks. I see surgeon on the 1st. Hopefully I get my “walking papers” then and can put weight on this leg and begin a cane!

@Walkinginthesand Sounds like you are on the right track with your meds now. Well done!

If you are still non-weight bearing you may be a bit sore when you are first released to weight bear. Stay ahead of the pain and ice.

Hi there :hi:
Wonderful news on getting your pain under control.
Five weeks post op already. Time sure flies.
One more week until your appt.....I hope you get your walking papers then also.
Wishing you a peaceful night.
@Walkinginthesand

@Walkinginthesand 5 weeks already! Tomorrow is 5 weeks for me and of course I am impatient. Sigh. I see my OS on the 5th.

Happy you are nearing weight bearing and I hope you can do it without a lot of pain once you get there. I"ll be watching you!

@Poodles I have been trying weight bearing in tiny increments. Like not taking walker in bathroom. I have the counter to stabilize me. IT FEELS SO WONDERFUL!!! I can hardly wait to see him. I have loads of questions like riding my bike without breaking 90, when can I pick up my grandson, how do I get things out of bottom drawers and lots more. My car is low and that is an issue. I have so many questions because I feel I am ready to begin my next phase.

@Walkinginthesand I love how excited you sound! You are so excited it makes me excited for you!

Low, car eh? So glad I have an SUV. It is easy to get into. Sit and turn like I was a lady with my legs together! Gee, it may become a habit...probably not. Sigh...I could wish.

I will be watching for your report next Thursday. Can't believe another month has gone by...

@Poodles I really am excited. This 5 weeks has not been a walk in the park-pardon the pun! But I was determined DETERMINED to not let it break me.:sos: I didn’t do well with my right knee and prayed diligently to do this THR with grace and dignity. I have had horrible days but surprisingly when I realized I am ALMOST to my next phase, I felt victorious. You guys don’t realize how much just talking to others who understand has made me feel stronger. Those sharing stories of their sweet pets made me pull mine closer and let her be my therapy. My husband has been FABULOUS and I am very blessed. He has done everything except clean bathrooms- my first job next Friday. :rotfl: Thank you @Poodles but you are part of my excitement. Whoohoo. :dancy::spin:

Now that you are this excited, don't overdo! I certainly did yesterday by wanting to get to a new number on my Fitbit. The Fitbit is now waiting upstairs for me, for another week. I'm not ready to push myself yet it seems. I was miserable yesterday afternoon and last night. Today I did half the steps of yesterday and am much happier. I will be increasing steps s.l.o.w.l.y. :old: No competing with myself for another week or so.

My husband told me :no-fin: to be careful challenging myself. He too, has been so good during this and I am so glad both hips are done now and we can move forward. So much to do and I have even made reservations for some camping trips. (We "glamp" we don't camp.)

Tomorrow I taking the day off for a 3 day weekend. Rest in the morning, my husband and I are meeting friends for a late lunch, then Saturday I plan on a genealogy workday with a friend if there isn't too much snow for her to get here. Sunday another day of rest before going back to work. It's all snow all weekend, darn it. The tourists will be happy and the town will be packed.

@Poodles @Mascaramom @SaraK @MamaT . Oh MY! We went out this morning to do a little shopping. It was great. By the time we were back to the car I was weary. By the time we grabbed a hamburger I was soooo tired. By the time I pulled off my clothes and crawled in bed I was EXHAUSTED!!! I slept for 2 1/2 hours. Whew. Shopping was always easy before- except painful I guess. :dead:
