good morning and happy holidays. i first need to say how brave you are and keep up the good faith … try to change your pattern of thinking … "pain is temporary" wether it is a minute, an hour or a year. all this is temporary"
each day believe it or not, you ARE getting better and stronger.
i had double knee replacement 8 weeks ago and i too am trying to stay positive, and it is very difficult because you do feel so close to being capable but you just can't get there yet.
i have 4 dogs, 2 teenage boys and a traveling husband, so i do know what its like to feel like you gotta get it going already, but remember, your support system is the most crucial part. tell your family when your hurting and take that moment to feel what your feeling, but try if you can to remember it is temporary and you will recover.
i agree will a lot of the posts, especially those who said, the doctors and PT etc.., don't really dive into too many details of the recovery and just tell you everyone heals differently, well if i hear that one more time I'm gonna scream … i used to do bootcamp five days a week, for almost two years, throwing tires, 100 plus sit ups blah, blah, blah, now, i can't even get off the toilet without grabbing on the the walls … so, believe me, i get it.
maybe this can help … my 16 year old has seen my cry way too much and he came into my room one night and said here, watch this … it was a motivational speech from youtube about pain and recovery … of course i cried but at the end of the day, it helped me so much and i take it with me each and every day. i will try and find the exact one but you can also just search "pain & motivational speeches" on youtube and you'll see many stories that may help your state of mind.
time will heal our surgeries but for all of us on the "dark side" we need motivation and support in our minds & souls. one truly cannot heal unless mind, body and spirit are in connected.
here's to you and all that are in recovery … your beautiful, your beyond brave, and you WILL be pain free
blessings & warm regards,
deedles
