You know it sugar! I will always have my fellow BS warrior's backs.

What ever works for you hon :)

I didn't suggest the poles for you to use specifically for exercising, more for the lightness factor. NW poles have rubber paws that you attach for shock absorption also. They also have the neat glove like sling that you fit your hand through and instead of gripping the pole you are taught to let your wrist rest in the sling part and lightly hold the poles with two fingers - interesting technique, as I am a skier, down hill, but mostly cross country.. Took a bit to get used to...

You have to go for what works for you and your lifestyle :) - just continue having fun with your new hip :)

Poppet Now that is very useful info, lightly holding the poles with two fingers. Although my arms are very strong and I never get tired when paddling my kayak, I'm finding my fingers get very achy holding the pole, which is not light weight. OA in all my joints, you know. I remembered you had said the NW poles were lighter than trekking, and my painful hand is why I was asking about them. Will look into it further.
Thank you!

Oh no, say it isn't so...it is snowing! Sissy and I enjoyed a beautiful 80 degree day here in the Sunshine state. I just love this time of year with our low-humidity and comfortably warm weather. I will be glad to grab a boxful of it and ship it to any of my Bone Smart hippies. Just let me know.

Tammy

bellaroma After hiking Sunday and paddling Monday, I had a laid back day today, mostly reading. I loved the snow the two years I lived in upstate New York---and then I moved directly to Florida and never looked back:SUNsmile:
How was your day, Beth?
And darn!---we're all waiting for your update on your thread. Tell it, sister, tell it!

I also took it easy bought a car over the weekend and driving it home last night, which a 40 minute drive was a bit much. Hanging in but the change in the weather slows me down a bit.
darn!, you surecan send a box of sunshine this way

bellaroma What we need down here right now is a little rain. The weather has been gorgeous, but it's getting a bit dry.
Congrats on new car! What did you get?

Beth, a box or two of sunshine is on its way, but I do have to agree with Sissy, we need it to rain. Hope all is well with my BS warrior buddies.

we have some snow on the ground, just a couple inches, but it's going to warm up next week
so it'll all be gone.
wouldn't bother me if we had another snowless winter like last year, well, maybe towards the
end of winter i could ride a snowmobile???

cnydutch Snowmobile? Not until you've mastered the grocery store scooters like Beth and Tammy:yes!:

Dutch, if you come down to Florida, we could conduct a scooter training in the local grocery store parking lot. You could improve your skills and work on your tan.

ahhh,, my tan. what little bit i got this year (on vacation in late august) is long gone.
last year at this time i had just gotten back from a few days on Sanibel Island....

don't you have jet skis down there i could ride???

Aww, well you've been there more recently than I have. My hip pain kept me from going anywhere much for most of a year---I did get to Cedar Key for a long weekend, but I couldn't even walk around town. Going to Sanibel in January, Cedar Key in March.
You'll be back, and enjoy it more with your new hip:SUNsmile:
Off to bed. I really need a good night's  Night all! but if insomnia strikes, I'll check in and see what my west coast buddies are doing.

Beautiful weather: check
Jet Skies: check
Dutch down here to ride: MIA

insomnia, had that last nite again... ugh......
trying taking benadryl , the tramadol gave me itchy legs!!!
good nite......

:goodpost: Didn't your doctor give you your membership card? A bit more expensive than belonging to Sam's Club, but way more worth it.

Hey Sissy- I checked with a friend who has trekking poles with shock absorbers. She says she really likes them - little easier on the arms. Also, if you are worried about weight, they make some pretty darn light trekking poles, too. I have even seen them made out of carbon fiber. Good luck looking. I love shopping for outdoor gear.

sissy46: and darn!: I think nerdgrrl: and I can send you buckets of rainwater. It's supposed to rain pretty much for the next week. However, it's much better than the solid precipitation (notice I didn't use the 4 letter word).

Always glad to help out our fellow warriors! :thumb:
