Sissy, I am sure the gators heard us before they saw us! We had one of the young nephews with us and I am quite sure we were not the quietest boat on the river! I'm actually amazed we saw any wildlife. The boys are older now, and quite the young naturalists, so I am sure our next trip will be gatorful.

darn! said "Don't discount your talent like that Sissy. You have a fantastic eye. Isn't it great to live in a state where you can take advantage of outdoor activities year round? My point and shoot photos never turn out like that. Glad to hear that your days of medicating are getting fewer and further between. That is quite impressive with your activity level."

I agree with this entire post! I understand the eye is the most important part of photography. And your lack of pain and your amount of activity truely impress me.

:iagree: with Cookie! The eye is a photographer's paintbrush.

Sissy you are amazing! All of the activity, nearly every day is quite impressive. Hubby and I were discussing how amazing it is that the gators don't brush up against your kayak more often...that's the warrior bravery for sure! The photos are so beautiful - I think I'd have them prnted and framed all over the place!

 Thank you. You guys make me blush with your kind words. nerdgrrl, next time you come to Florida, I will take you paddling and we will see gators.
I had a nice, easy bike ride today, no more than 11 miles, and then lunch with a friend at a sidewalk cafe in the pretty little town of Winter Garden, where the "rails to trails" bike trail goes right down the median where the train used to go.
I was stiff and sore after the 40 minute drive up there, but bike riding seems to be therapeutic.
Now icing just for the heck of it, and if I feel great in the morning will go for an easy hike, otherwise will take a day off.
Here is downtown Winter Garden:

Looks like a picture-perfect postcard town. Sissy, I want to be just like you when I grow up. How I look forward to doing the things I love when I retire.

very nice day Sissy! and yes, great photos!
but i'd be packing something a little more lethal than a
paddle floating around with those guys out there!!!!!

I'm with you Dutch. The only gator I want to see up close and personal better be a handbag or something. Sissy makes the rest of us look like _______________ (fill in the blank).

I wish somebody would explain my new hip to me. I just came from the Y. I used the stationary bike for 30 minutes, did 6 miles, and the new hip felt perfectly normal. Went over and got on the treadmill for 12 minutes, just half a mile, felt perfect. Walked out to my car, not a twinge. Drove the two miles home, got out of the car and had that sharp tightness through the inner thigh. Up the 16 steps to my condo, and just fine.

Should I be doing more stretching? or what? It isn't a big deal, but it is becoming annoying, as I have to make a conscious effort not to limp when I first start walking.
This is my 8th day without ibuprofen or any other pain med:yay:

How is everyone else's day? Did you guys know that Dutch isn't icing his hips? I'm a snitch:heehee:

Sissy, I'm thinking it is more of a post work-out muscle tightness. Don't be afraid to down a couple ibruprofen. It shows the rest of us that you are mortal after all.

I posted on Dutch's thread that he is lucky we like him or we would be telling Josephine!

darn! it isn't just after working out, though, it is any time is sit down for a few minutes and then get up. I would think if anything is wrong, it would hurt while I'm moving:scratch:

Here is a picture my friend took a couple of years ago on a very cold day (I'm not that fat, I had on layers and layers) but the gator is really big. Believe me, that zoom lens makes it look like I'm a lot closer than I really was:

Sissy, Zoom or no Zoom, you are pretty close to that gator. What was that show where the warrior was lord of the beasts and could control them?

As the pain you describe reminds me of the muscles being pulled that were affected by the surgery, maybe Josephine, can provide an answer

Once I asked my chiropractor how come I could do something strenuous or long lasting like weeding, planting or moving furniture, be fine when I stopped and then, after a rest watching tv or having had a nap, my back would then be agonising. He explained it thus: when you've done something that makes demands on muscles, you need to do gentle stretches or some cool down exercise to let those muscles recover from the activity.

So you said that you are fine until after you've driven home so I would suggest that is your problem, even though you don't say how long the journey is. So I suggest you have a word with the trainer at your gym and get him to plan some cool down stuff and stretches in order to obviate this problem. Let me know how you get on with it.

Josephine, thanks, that makes sense, except that it is any time I've been sitting down, not just when I've been sitting after working out.
Cookie42 has the same thing, and she's also 11 weeks post-op, and misery loving company as it does, that makes me feel better and more normal:rolleyes:
I was very tempted to take an ibuprofen before going to dinner and a concert this evening, but I didn't---I had some along just in case, but didn't need it.
I think this is something that will work itself out---and I'm so much better than I was before surgery, I'll quit whining about it.
