Songlady I hate when I lose a post. Tablets are difficult to get used to. So sorry about your uncomfortable night. I really hope you can rest and relax when you arrive at your in-laws. Glad you have your meds. I think you'll be happy to stop traveling for awhile.

Songlady I hope you get more sleep with the mattress topper which make all the different I have one here at the holiday home and one at my daughters as they prefer harder mattresses which are difficult for us hippies.I hope you enjoy the rest of the holiday and if keep on top of the pain with your meds.

Hi Meg Songlady The first part of your journey is finished - you're there by now. Just get your bed comfortable for you so you can get a decent night's rest. The mattress topper is a great idea, also the pain pills. You'll probably need one at some point, just from the traveling and visiting.
Good luck, enjoy the visit. Hope it all goes well for you from here on out. :)

LeeApril26, ByGosh, Kim22, zauberflöte, Peaches, Elosarabrab and all - the mattress topper is definitely saving me! Sleep is going better. Walking is going OK also! We are Ina little house, cabin, whatever, halfway up the hill. It is the original dwelling on the hill, and we are glad to stay there, because we have our own space. Some 300 plusnsteps down the hill are my husband's folks, in the house they built about 1950. About 300 plus steps up from us are husband's brother and family. They are the ones with internet. So...even without shop ping trips or meals out, I am getting in plenty of walking! I have my pedometer on every day so I can feel virtuous about it. I am using the cane because I find I get less sore when I use it.
I am trying to keep up with you all, and will post when I can!

Songlady, Lots of steps, so plenty of exercise. Using cane is a good idea---more stability, too. Hope you are enjoying yourself.

Songlady You are having a great time and managing to walk well.I am sure this break will do you good.I must have missed some information from your thread and therefore I have no idea where you are staying.I would love to know. Enjoy yourself.

Songlady So if you visit each set of relatives once a day, that's 1200 steps? I don't think you have to do any other exercises while you're there. You should feel virtuous. Glad the mattress topper is working. Hope it isn't as humid there as it is here, while you're doing all that step climbing.

Songlady that's a LOT of steps! You will lose 5 lbs if you keep this up:heehee: I hope the daytime mosquitoes haven't gotten that fat (LOL had to leave that typo, it's SO perfect. What I meant to type was "far") yet so you can actually set on the porch with ice tea :)

Hello Songlady Virtuous, indeed! That's a lotta steps. Good for you, your legs must have nice calf muscles, and I bet the buttocks are firming up nicely, too, with all of the up and down the country hills. Just like Ellie May in the Beverly Hillbillies LOL :) You'll have to wear your cut-off jeans to show them off.

It sounds very picturesque - do you have a camera so you can show us some pics when you return?
Let's see, pedometer-check
mattress topper-check
pain meds-check
ice packs-check
bug spray-check
cut-off jeans-check
camera-:yikes: -no check! forgot it! LOL Hope you have it - I'd love to see some pics.:)

Glad you're doing so well and enjoying your visit and climbing around the hills. Take care and post when you can.:)

Kim22 - I am at my husband's family's area, in western North Carolina, in the Great Smoky mountains. @bygosh- will post some pics. A bit hard to figure right now with the tablet. LeeApril26 - believe it or not, it is More humid here than in the NE. 93% when I checked a little while ago. pouring rain this afternoon. But A good 10 degrees cooler at any point in the day than it is in the north. Zthat is a bit weird except we are in the mountains, where it is often cooler than in neighboring towns.
zauberflöte - bugs not so bad! We have ants on the way into "the little house" where we are staying. But in eveningsnthe mosquito's are sometimes fat!
nmscienceteacher - sitting around szome, too. I brought knitting so I can sit and not get too antsy during long reminiscing conversations.
I am averaging about 5,000 or 6,000 steps per day.mind you, even shuffling one foot to the other likely countst as a step... And baby steps count as much as real walking steps. I'm not doing badly, still sore when getting up after sitting awhile, and as I get tired as the day goes on. Making use of some meds, definitely.

LeeApril26, ByGosh, zauberflöte, Kim22, nmscienceteacher, hopefully this picture will load...if not does, it's a pic of the dirt road from where we are staying as it winds down toward the SongGrandparents. I tried to take mountain pics with my tablet this morning, but it's cloudy and the clouds were low over the mountains so they didn't,t show up! I'll try again when the sun comes out. I am hoping to go hiking in these hills next year!

It looks lovely and I am so pleased that you are able to walk 5-6,000 steps a day which is a wonderful achievement and I know exactly how you feel about your hopes to hike in the hills next year.I also hope to walk in the hills near here,by next year Great goals for us both. Thanks for posting the photo of your special place.

Songlady what a lovely picture.... I can hear the cicadas now, and maybe you have katydids at night? We don't, here, and I reallllllllly miss them. Your walking sounds great, and I too want to know what you're knitting in all this rain? You must have the same weather we have-- rain rain rain every single day. Today I'll bet my house has gotten nearly 2 inches! I hope your long term forecast is better than mine! :) How are the SongMen getting along?

Songlady How beautiful it is there. So lush with the different trees, and so nice and green. Lovely, really. It looks like such a pretty place to be. Thanks for sharing with us.
You're doing great with all of the walking. I read that 10,000 steps is about 5-6 miles, so you're easily doing 2 1/2 - 3 miles, just going house to house! :)
