LeeApril26 - Hi Lenora, and World, I will confess..... I tried a "restorative yoga" class this morning, which advertised as being for people with physical issues, MS fibromyalgia, etc. I was hesitant, but a good friend wanted to go and wanted me to try it with her. The instructor was indeed very gentle and unobtrusively indicated to me that there were various moves that I, especially, should modify or skip. (I modified my moves a few times.) So far, my left shoulder is a little stiff, but actually, as the day has gone on, I've felt better than I have in a long time! I'm sure I'll hurt tomorrow, but I believe I'll go back for more (in a few days.)
The other books... There are several series, some of which are related to the Tide series, and some of which are not. Here is an official listing, grouped by series: broken link removed: https://www.fantasticfiction.co.uk/o/elisabeth-ogilvie/
And I love the cool day! zauberflöte, I am wearing jeans, Smartwool socks and sneakers, a polo shirt with a sweatshirt over it today, the weather here is so cool! I love it, although the abrupt change from the heat is hard to believe!

Songlady The class sounds good. It's really helpful that the instructor helped you modify the position.
Thanks so much for the books listing. I haven't thought about her books in a while, but when you mentioned Maine this great pleasure that I felt reading them revived. Will check out the list. I found a few books of hers that I didn't know when we stopped in Maine for the day.

LeeApril26 - Lenora, I've never tried yoga before, but a few close friends had told me for years that they thought I'd like it. And, unless I can't move tomorrow, I think, in fact, I do like it!:heehee: One of those friends also recommended Tai Chi. I would like to try that sometime also! I would have waited until Fall to start, but I pushed myself so that I could go "the first time" with this friend. The "gentle" sessions are offered a few times a week, but this particular time slot is the one we will likely try to commit to doing together... and I plan to be away next week at this time. If all goes well, I will do one more class before we go away for our not-quite-a-week.
Getting onto the floor and back up - TWICE - was one of my major accomplishments of the session! :loll: I was given a big bolster, and some foam blocks, to lean against and help support me for some moves, and I use those to help myself get up. Yay!:egypdance:

Songlady. I have done a few yoga classes with my daughter, who is really into it. I like the idea of the restorative class. At the moment the thought of getting up and down on the floor seems too much. Yeah! That you could do it.
It is nice to go with a friend or daughter. We are going back and forth to PA so much that it is hard to start a class now, but I'd like to. Don't want to backslide from PT.

Hi zauberflöte, LeeApril26, ByGosh, Elosarabrab, and all -
we are heading to Maine for a "long weekend" (Thursday - Tuesday, actually!) to celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary. A dear friend is giving us the keys to her little house in Camden, which is on the coast. We'll also see other friends for lunch and our older son for dinner. Internet may or may not be available, so I'll post as I can!
Take care, everyone!:friends:

WAIT MEG!!! :yikes: Songlady I have not been receiving your alerts and had no idea you had a wonderful 12 week check up! Congratulations! I'm glad you're doing so well and your OS sounds like a very good and reasonable surgeon (ahem).
(I'm looking up Elisabeth Olgivie in ibooks tonight, too - thanks for the tip, ladies - LeeApril26 and Songlady.)

Okay now that I've said that -- you can go on your 'second honeymoon' Songlady !!! :) xxxoooxxxxoooxxxoooxxx

Hopefully SL is having a wonderful anniversary... Looking forward to hearing all about it :)

Hi zauberflöte ByGosh. LeeApril26. Poppet. Elosarabrab and all -
Poppet, how are you?? And everyone else? I am on the silly tablet because it will let me post photos. I obviously need to change some setting on my regular. Computer, because photos end up being too big to post or even to email to friends!
Barbara, I thought of you be cause the town we stayed in, Camden, definitely has places i would term "pubs"- and we tried out a few of those places, just to make sure!
I did a lot of walking and a certain amount of aching., but still had a good time. I waded into a lake at dusk, and we took a 1.5 hour ferry ride out to an island where we have a delightful lunch.
I was so happy to get into my own bed last night I slept 8 hours straight! Even with my Topper, the oldish twin beds Songman and I had were tough on my hip and my back in about 3 places. but I would go back tomorrow if zi could ! Lol
So, a few pics. A town on the coast with mountains, lake, and lovely harbor.

Songlady What lovely shots. Thanks for sharing. So beautiful. It seems like you had a great time despite the questionable beds. The trip to the island sounds like the Oglivie novels.

Mmmmm.... So pleased Songlady that you had a great break... Always nice to get home though to one's own bed isn't it :)

Elosarabrab Absolutely! We tried some Shipyard Ale, which is a local Maine brew. We liked it very much - and I figured after all the steps I'd walked, I'd earned the refreshment!

Hi zauberflöte ByGosh nmscienceteacher LeeApril26 Elosarabrab
How are you all? 17 weeks out for me, or, basically, 4 months. I am still trying to balance how much walking is a good thing and helpful in working out the kinks, and how much is not good and makes me ache. My lower back hurts when I do a lot, and that muscle that runs from backside across rump to hip and thigh. A good, steady walk helps me a lot more than slow walking; I am more likely to ache if I go very slow.

I am doing a "restorative yoga" class! It is twice a week, though some weeks I can get there only once. There are only a few moves that make me nervous, so I adapt those, (the instructor encourages this). For the most part, I feel better and more without aches after this class! I'd like to find a DVD so I can try some of it at home (I can't do it just on my own, at least yet; I've tried.)

I got on my bike last week and rode around the small 2-block area of our neighborhood some! I have not had the chance to try again, but it went OK.

I'll try to catch up on all your threads!
