THR Second one - hope it's better than the first

@Bevlah ,

Don't forget to go back to the first page of your thread and re-read the articles that Irish Joe left you, in Post #8 .
Lots of short, informative articles there, that do bear reading more than once.

Good. I'm glad to hear you got some additional medication from your doctor. You should be okay now. Your schedule for the Tramadol was just fine.

At some point down the road you can use Extra Strength Tylenol (500mg acetaminophen) in conjunction with the Tramadol. That combination can work well too. But as early as you are in the recovery process, I think the morphine is a much better choice for your nighttime. Don't forget to ice too. It works wonders on pain.

@Josephine hi there I have been reading through all of the great advise that has been previously posted and have a question if you don't mind? I have my ice packs and not really sure where the best place to put them? My whole leg and knee hurts and have just been putting an ice pack all over but is there a specific point that works best? Thank you

Ice any area that is painful. There is lots of trauma to many areas during the procedure. Many new hippies suffer with sore knees and legs - they get wrenched a bit when your surgeon is trying to dislocate your old hip. I iced my knee more than my hip post RTHR.

:dancy::spin::happydance::yay::yes!::egypdance:Oh my god what a difference a day makes! Had a lovely shower and have managed to get some clothes, not night clothes on! Been busy tidying up the house by putting stuff in my shoulder bag. I have done a considerable amount of walking and although am now shattered I feel wonderful! You were all so right, patience and rest were what I needed. I know it's a slow road but this is the first day that I don't feel like crying I actually feel excited about the new life around the corner for me. Just wanted to share my happiness!!!

That is great to hear @Bevlah! Isn’t it insane that a bit of cleaning/tidying can make us feel so good? You are still early days and may have some ups and downs but that peak of what is around the corner is great motivation. Try not to join the over did it club!

Oh that's great news @Bevlah so glad you got there - to that day, place when you just knew it was all worth it. Sharing your happiness! Have great weekend.

Yahoo! I knew it was going to be a good post when I spotted all the lil dancing peeps!

First showers are the best. Finally getting out of lounge wear too. You feel like you've re-joined the human race.

Patience is still required as you may have little curves or bumps in the road, or you may not.
Just take it slow and steady. If you find yourself being particularly active, take breaks and ice
preventativly or when you're at your limit for activity.

Please know that the post op blues can pop up out of nowhere at times having you in a twist over some total nonsense. Usually something so inane it's laughable later. I found those episodes to be short lived. But they did occur for a time.

I'm thankful you're happy and excited for you. You're on your way and you're going to do great! :friends:
@Bevlah

So glad you are doing well!
Onward and upward:yahoo:

Hope your day is peaceful, Bevlah.
Hopefully the ice is without ob that swelling.
You are not even two weeks out from receiving your bionic hip and I think you're doing splendidly!
Take it easy now, and it will put you on the fast track for getting all this recovery mess behind you.
:egypdance:

@Mojo333 hi there. Feeling much better today. Been trying 1 crutch around the house but I am a bit wobbly. Managed to make a cup of tea and bring into the living room yaaay. Such a small achievement but big in my post THR world. Clips out tomorrow so no more cling film for the shower! Each day brings more joy but it's still a long road. Gotta get out of the house yet but that's tomorrow to get the clips out

Good for you!
It's those small victories that we build our confidence on.
Every one of them helps in getting us back to "our normal".

I remember in the early days sliding my coffee and and whatever simple breakfast
I made for myself along the length of my kitchen counter. I'd push them ahead of me a ways, take a few steps to catch up, push, catch-up, push, catch-up until I got it all over to the kitchen table.
Makes me chuckle now but it felt good back then to know I could do it myself!

You'll enjoy the outing tomorrow, Bevlah....even if it's just to get the clips out.
It might tire you out a bit also. Oh darn, you may just need a warm cozy nap when you get home after
all that exertion (says as she winks)
Hope today is great for you!

I have invented a new game 'kitchen snooker' I use my crutch or stick as a cue to push things around the kitchen island to minimise walking around the kitchen takes some skill to keep ketchup bottles upright.

May seem like small victories @Bevlah, but they are huge post op accomplishments! I agree you will find the doctors visit tiring. I have some ghirardelli chocholates in fridge for my recovery.

Hi @ Bevlah I hope you snuck in a nap.
Hubby used to reward me with chocolates in the early days of recovery after I did my exercises.
Then....I'd also sneak one on my bathroom breaks. We rarely have chocolate in the house
so it was a treat.

That Martin is a hoot.....maybe he's on to something with his Kitchen Snooker.
He'll get rich and ditch us and we can say we "knew him back when he couldn't even walk!"
(Said as she runs away) He's going to come after me for that one :rotfl:

@MammaT what are those chocolates we don't have them in the UK!! Haven't been to the docs until later today but I got dressed on my own this morning...... I feel shattered!! Still another achievement in the life of "stuck at home Bev"
