THR Second one - hope it's better than the first

:console2: Hope vacation will revive your spirit...thinking of you!:angel:

@MammaT yes patience is what I need but it's relentless isn't it? I am sure it will all settle when I have the other one done as you say. Just had some awful family news which just makes everything worse! I feel emotionally drained at the moment but there are always others worse off than us eh? I am walking much better so it slowly improves and this site is so comforting. Hope you're well yourself?

Quite well @Bevlah. Getting back to normal life. Put away surgery stuff. Still some swelling and tenderness and numbness, but improving.

Sorry you are once again dealing with family issues. I’m glad you are working at keeping things in perspective, but when we are in the middle of stuff, that’s hard to do.

So sorry you're dealing with unpleasant family news, Bev.
I hope you're able to get some rest so you're better equipped to handle added stress.
Prayers for peace and some restorative sleep. :prayer:
@Bevlah

:hi: wondering if things were going alright with you? Over the the month mark...
I know you've been disappointed with your ROM but hope you are getting benefit of no hip pain!
Hope your weekend is peaceful:angel:

:wave: Hi Bev
Hope you're having a good day!
You were struggling and feeling exhausted about a week ago.
I hope you've had a chance to catch up on some rest and your hip pain has improved.
Warm wishes for a relaxing weekend!
@Bevlah

Hi @mojo yes no hip pain in my right but still have the left to go. ROM is very disappointing but I just have to accept it will never change. Been like this since birth and I am 53, so had long enough to get used to it! Hope all is well with you and your dad is ok. We are having lovely warm weather at the mo so have some friends round later for a Barbecue later. Love this small glimpse of summer!!!

@Layla hip pain has gone it's just the muscle pain but that is slowly ( very slowly!!!!) Getting better. Just stiff as a board and getting up and sitting down sends pain in my thighs. My walking is much better but I do still walk like a 90 year old......well not really as they are quicker than me! I just need to get my weak muscles and core stronger and I am sure I will then be fine and dandy!!! Hope you're ok

I'm doing well, Bev, thanks!
Happy to hear your hip pain is gone and that muscle pain is easing.
You're moving in the right direction :happydance:
BBQ with friends sounds so fun! I'm longing for those days.
Enjoy that time with loved ones. Big hugs :friends:
@Bevlah

Yahoo, Bev! :yay: :happydance::dancy::spin:
Keep it up....slow and easy.
Hope the rest of your week is great!
@Bevlah

Head, shoulders, knees, AND TOES.
Good job!
Stay slow and steady, Bevlah.
Rooting for you!:yes!:

Just see if you can get a little further every day.
I know it's something you were hoping would've been an immediate fix, but just don't force anything...little by little try to get more stretch I would think.
Those muscles had a long time of not being able to do that...

I'm happy to still see you on the forum and getting well!

Yes I am doing stretches every day slowly getting those stubborn muscles awake. Trouble is if I try to open my leg further than it can go it feels like my hip is popping out of my buttock!! My muscles where my scar is also complain so it is a very slow and painful process!! :chuckmarch:not sure this will ever be me.....:blackcloud:

My first THR was very similar. I had limped around for literally years. Yes, it is very frustrating when you feel like you are not making progress. But go back to the beginning of your recovery thread. I think you will be amazed just how much you have accomplished. You will get there! For some of us recovery is measured in months and years - not weeks. What seems impossible one day is easy on another. Hang in there!

Right I am back again as I just can't get my head around this recovery malarky!! I know my hip was severely deformed which after reasearch on here, seems to be the reason I still have massive swelling and pain on my op leg scar and recovery is very very slow. My real problem is my ROM. Despite stretches and PT I am no better than before the op. I cannot believe this as EVERYBODY on here has more ROM after their op. I can touch my toes but that's about it. I have had lots of reassurances on here but this is wrong surely? My initial consultation was because I had no ROM and the doctor couldn't believe it for someone so young. Then they discovered my protusio and OA then op was recommended. I really thought I would be able to have an improvement in my ROM even a tiny bit. I am nearly 4 months on from the op and can't believe this is just me healing? When I say I have no ROM I really mean it! I cannot lift my leg up with the knee bent very high. I can't put shoes or socks on. I have to step into my knickers after laying them on the floor. I am basically like an ironing board and to be honest am feeling quite depressed about it all. My other hip is screaming at me and I just don't want to get it replaced as I just don't see the point!!! Am still going up the stairs one at a time but my "good" leg is now struggling with even this so stairs are becoming very difficult. Without sounding too self pitying can anyone please offer any advice? Please don't tell me to be patient as this lack of ROM feels wrong? Thank you

Health care is so different there so I don't know what's possible. Can you get an appointment with a physio to do measurements and an assessment? My surgeon doesn't seem to like dealing with anything he can't cut, hammer or saw and didn't even examine my leg/joint when I saw him at 3 month point and PT had indicated likely glute med tear. Just said "Sounds about right - do what PT tells you to do." Also, getting the numbers down in black and white may spur surgeon on to take closer look.

I know you don't want to be told to be patient, but also recognize you're asking muscles to loosen up and do what they've never done. It seems like many on here are hoping to get to their pre-op state at 4 months and you need to get further. There may be something else that can be done by surgeon but he may need to see more info or longer timeframe before doing it.

Could you ask your Dr to arrange an X-ray/mri scan to check that everything is ok with the replacement? I so sorry that you’re not where you want to be at this stage. Hopefully, you can get the replacement checked it :flwrysmile:
