THR Second one - hope it's better than the first

:wave:@NanaMama I am 7 weeks post op today! Still not great but loads better than I am sure you are feeling at 1 week!. Each week it does get better and I know how you feel about wishing the time away. It went quickly so wishing it does for you too!!! It has snowed heavily all day but I have been warm. First official day of spring today but someone forgot to tell the weather. You will be hopping out the door soon just like a spring lamb I am sure. Wishing you lots of healing and thanks for stopping by

It's funny to read of other locations that shut down and can't handle snow storms.
Living in the frozen tundra It makes me chuckle. Minnesota has a nickname and it's MinneSnowta.
I hope you're safe and cozy warm in your house, Bev. Hopefully the temps and sun will soon melt it all.
Here, There and Everywhere! Come on Spring :flwrysmile::flwrysmile::flwrysmile:
@Bevlah

Hope you are warm and snugly.
You are doing super I think.
It's that's effervescent spirit of yours.:curtsey:

Hey, @Bevlah - I hope you're doing well! Sounds like you survived the Beast. Two months coming up on Sunday - any plans to celebrate? Since you haven't mentioned it in awhile, I assume you lost the KK. I'm sure that makes getting into your regular clothes so much easier!

Take care!

8 weeks post op and have serious blues. I can't stop crying so please, hip buddies, I need help!

Went for my check up appt and have attached my x-ray. I was told that they would build a cup for my new hip out of some of my hip bone. They were concerned about my leg length so built the "cup???" I use that term loosely as it doesn't really resemble what I thought it would be, in the empty space in my pelvis. This looks like a blob just above the ball joint. Perhaps @Josephine can help me with this please?

I have the same limited movement in my hip as before. I cannot move my knee outwards and if I try I have exactly the same groin pain as before I even suffered from OA. Looking at the xray the hip looks fixed and I cannot see how I will ever get more flexibility so I feel that all of this has been for nothing.

I know the OA pain has gone but that was only a very small part of this journey as far as I was concerned! My femur had gone through my pelvic wall so I know it had to be done but I just can't accept I still have no outward movement.

Physio have given me exercises to strengthen the muscles post op but it's not the problem!!! I feel that nobody that I see is listening to me! I know I am never going to have full hip rotation but after a life time of hip pain when trying to move into different positions, I was banking on this operation changing this for me and I would be"normal". I just feel a bit destitute at the moment and cry to my partner most nights but they just don't understand do they?

Sorry to rant just needed to get it off my chest!!!!!!

:sad:Oh Bevlah. I hate that you are so upset. I don't know what to say about your "fix"...will leave that to Jo, but I do know that you are only two months along.
I don't know if you will get that outward mobility or not but I know I didn't have it two months out and mine was supposedly run of the mill, no extra fixing.
Don't assume too much right now.
Only two months...I had problems moving lots of ways at two months out.
I'm sending piles of sympathy, prayers, and hugs.:console2:

Aww, Bev
Sending a warm hug your way.....try not to worry just yet. Let Jo weigh in on all. She'll understand your
X-ray better than any of us and it may not be as bad as you're imagining it to be. I imagine she'll ask you a series of questions and go from there.

You are pretty early into Recovey and there is still so much healing to take place. Try not to stress
pre-maturely. So much of recovery happens gradually and you realize one day you're doing something you couldn't do a few weeks, or a month earlier. I can't tell you how many of those little surprises I've experienced. You will too!

Big hugs.....it will all work out.
@Bevlah

@Mojo333 @Layla thanks ladies you are always there like a comfort blanket! It doesn't help that I have been asking for a well deserved pay rise since last April and have been told to wait until January. Mentioned it today and was told by my boss that he can't ask for it as I am only working part time at the moment!!! Omg I was fuming and sent him an email just before I left to tell him so! I think the trouble with this hip journey is that somebody reassures you about a problem and you are ok for a while but it keeps coming back to haunt you!!!! I will await what Josie days but I do take on board it is 8 weeks so early days

Have you asked your surgeon or PA about expectations on eventual range of motion and time to get there? I agree with others that it's much too soon to fret and think that this is all you're going to get. With both of my THRs, range of motion was the last thing to come back and, with the first, there were significant differences from 2 months to 3 months to 6 months.

That's so stupid! The one most responsible and in the best position to give information refused to give any? Did he even give a timeframe like "it's early but improvement, if it comes, would be more likely in __ months" or "what you have at __ months is likely the best you're going to get" ? I can understand not wanting to commit to the ultimate outcome but some idea of when to worry would have been nice!

@SaraK it wasn't even the oa that I saw at my appt. I think I saw the flipping cleaner who recommended pt but said he couldn't really commit to it getting any better. He said the mechanics were in place but no real prognosis as this has been this way since birth

In other words, this person just really didn't have a clue and didn't bother trying to get info from someone who might have an answer! I would hope that your PT/physio might have more of an answer but they might not be as familiar with PA issues to be able to answer it. Anyway to get info from your OS? Camp on his doorstep, threaten vital parts of his anatomy . . . ? Can you get a copy of your op report? In both of mine, it indicated that they moved the hip around after putting in the implants and found normal range of motion. Your op report might give you some additional insight.

In any event, I really wouldn't get too worried about it yet. It is very early days, especially for range of motion issues, even for those who didn't have PA or other lifelong issues.

One door closes, one will open.
Really it's bad about the raise...hard to get good help.
Then used this to put you off.
I'm sorry you are catching it on all sides.
Keep the faith Bevlah. Stress is terrible for our immune systems.
Try to take care of yourself, we are on your side.

Sorry you are frustrated on multiple fronts @Bevlah. I do know my range of motion at two months is not where I was as time went on, it kept improving. Hopefully you will experience the same.

In terms of raise, the delay does seem to stink. My workplace is civil service so that stuff is set up independent of the individual. Hopefully that can get resolved. It just stinks when you get crappy news in multiple areas at same time.

Sending love :loveshwr: and hugs :friends: for the weekend, Bev.
Everything will work out, might just take a little time.
Please know we're here for you...
I hope you have a peaceful weekend!
@Bevlah

Sending hugs Bevlah.
Hope you know my red ink was for reassurance, not admonishment.
I want so badly for this surgery to put you where you went to be.
But please don't compare your recovery with others.
That thing went through your pelvis?!
That's way worse than most of the members' situations in here.
I think you are doing great.
L:loveshwr:ve and hugs

Thanks everyone. I love the way @Mojo333 called my hip a thing! Yes how rude going through my pelvis!!!!!! I feel a bit better today on this roller coaster ride but I can't say what may happen tomorrow! The trouble is I am normally an upbeat kinda person. I give myself a slap, listen to all of your advice and am ok for a few days. Then my whirlwind of a brain goes off again to doom and gloom land where I continue to walk like a robot and only move my legs forward from the knee down ( must look quite odd!!!) Then the years of frustration bring those flipping tears back up. At least the oa has gone thank the lord, but that was really only a small part of this journey for me. Anyway my little fruit bats I hope you all have a lovely weekend and happy healing to the ones healing and you lucky devils to the ones healed!!!!

You're allowed.
Wishing you some peace this weekend:angel:
