THR Second one - hope it's better than the first

@Layla hi lovey yes I have been icing my KK but it's still there...... Went shopping yesterday for some leggings and long baggy tops to wear in Cambridge this weekend as I can't wait wear my jeans! Love a bit of retail so every cloud and that :dancy::yes!:

Bev, you will forever be connected to a KK rear end in my mind! :heehee:
You can't help but wonder....is that thing of hers real?! I think It has its own zip code!
There's no way yours can be THAT swollen.....Oh the joys of major surgery.
Hope you had fun shopping!
@Bevlah

@Layla seriously though why?? I know they get implants in their butts so assume that's what she did and again I ask myself why?????

Hi @Bevlah just been catching up with your posts, I think you've done really well at just 4 weeks considering all the earlier hip issues you've had. Not many of us have had all that to deal with as well as THR. Don't you sometimes find though that one day you can do something that a couple of days/weeks ago just seemed impossible and without thinking about it too much you just did it. Seemed that way for me, I just refused to think about all the bits I couldn't do - yet - and new ROM just seemed to happen - when it's right to do. But hey think back to 4 weeks ago and what you can do now. And for example 4 weeks ago you wouldn't have even considered shopping...... It does get better honest.

If they're implants you'd assume at some point they'd go out of fashion (for lack of a better word) or require removal.
Can you imagine an 85 yr old granny hobbling around with a cane AND that thing, lol?
If it is implants, she'll lose 50 lbs just getting rid of them :heehee:
Oh man, what a topic!
May your surgery KK provide you great joking material until it deflates. The gift that keeps on giving :heehee:
@Bevlah

@Tomgirl yes I agree I have come such a long way but I feel that in the last 2 weeks nothing has really changed? I am convinced I will wake up one day and it will all be right

Don’t remember if it was Layla or Jaycey I read who said they looked at progress a week at a time. Even though you feel stalled now (and I think we all stall for awhile, body has to rest before moving to next level), you are much further than you were one month ago!

I also look for little signs, like getting pants on went smoother today. Little but important! Plus, the grapefruits are slowly shrinking.

Well, the grapefruits not so little but I have to believe they will go away someday! I do know they have stopped getting bigger....I don’t think I have bought larger pants lately.

Just a thought Bev,
I used to mark progress by weekends. I found it a far easier to gauge progress from
weekend to weekend for comparison sake. Usually your husband, or family is around then, or people are visiting. You have a better memory of those times and how mobile or comfortable you were.

It was easier than trying to recall what I did on any given weekday when you're more likely to be spending time alone. Those 5 days (Mon-Fri) just seemed to roll into one another for me. Same, same, same. You tend to switch it up more on the weekend creating clearer memories of time spent and whether you were feeling good, or not so good.
@Bevlah

What's KK
I know they get implants in their butts so assume that's what she did and again I ask myself why?????
And please put me out of my misery and tell me what this is all about!!

Here y'go then!

It would be very helpful if you would answer each one individually - numbered as I have done - in as much detail as you can then I'll come back as see where you are

1. what approach did you have for your surgery? Anterior, posterior, lateral? You can look here to see the various types THR approaches or incisions

2. what are your pain levels right now? (remember the 1-10 scale: 1 = no pain and 10 = the worst you can imagine. And don't forget to factor in other forms of pain such as soreness, burning, stabbing, throbbing, aching, swelling and stiffness).

3. what pain medications have you been prescribed, how much are you taking (in mg please) and how often?

4. are you icing your painful area at all? If so, how often and for how long?

5. are you elevating your leg. If so how often and for how long?

6. what is your activity level? What do you do in the way of housework, cooking, cleaning, shopping, etc., and

7. are you doing any exercises at home? If so what and how often?
This is the most crucial question so please help me by using the format I have left as an example
(which means please make a list and not an essay!)

Exercises done at home
- how many sessions you do each day
- enter exercise by name then number of repetitions of each
etc., etc.

Anything done at PT
- how many times a week
- enter exercise by name then number of repetitions of each
etc., etc.

KK. Short for Kim Kardashian, star of reality show in US, famous for large "fake" rear end.

@Tomgirl, mojo333 is showing her, I’m not sure how she is explained.

Thanks for bringing such a light note to our swelling saga @Bevlah. I think your fruit bowl may be more appropriate than grapefruits. Hope you notice some progress this week.

I'll bet Jo knows who Kim Kardashian is, "KK" probably didn't ring a bell though.
Will be interesting to get Josephine's opinion on all, Bev
Hope you're having a good day so far. A peaceful evening to you across the pond!
@Bevlah

@Josephine hi Josie thanks for your reply. Well as others have explained kk is Kim Kardashian who is an American reality star who has a rather large bottom from implants. I refer to my operated side as hers due to its size!!!! Sorry about that.

In answer to your questions
1. I think it may have been lateral due to the scar but my surgeon wasnt a talker and to be honest I did not think to ask!

2. Pain is good! Scar pulls and is sore, groin is sore and I get a sharp pain in it when I sit up or lift my leg up but apart from that I am good.

3 pain.meds are just paracetamol and ibuprofen.

4. And 5 I Ice and elevate whenever I am sitting

6. I do light hoovering, light cooking but my partner does the majority of it!!!

7 from advise from you guys and the pain in my groin I don't do any pt excercises! I do get up to walk around the house for 10 mins every hour and I walk around the block twice a day of not raining! I stretch my legs and push my knees down and tighten my bottom when sitting

Thank you

@Josephine forgot to mention I have turned a corner! I came to Cambridge yesterday and have been walking without any aid indoors, they have a large house, without a lump or bad gait! Yaaaaauyyyyyyyyyy going to use my crutch outside bit sooo happy
