Hi Jaycey, thank you! Yes just got home from PT and my therapist real stretched me out. What a difference! :) I feel so much better but definitely not out of the woods. Steady and slow! I wanted to do more around the house but my body told me, ENOUGH for now. Happy healing everyone! :)

I understood Scott :)

If your wife is a Reiki Master, practicing for three years - go for it.. It is non intrusive and when it works for someone it is effective - do let me know how it progresses :)

Just a tip, if you want to "tag" someone in response to their messages to you just type in the @ sign immediately followed by their user name and you'll see a small box in the posting area where the members user name will display. Sometimes there might be a very slight pause, but the member user name will appear.

it will show their correct name which you can click on -- then when you submit your post the member's user name/link will turn blue and send a message to them person, like this:

@Poppet

@Poppet , yes, Reiki works great for me. It's a slow process though. Like I said before, it's not for everyone. It may be just a total relaxing experience. As for nutrition, I do try to eat healthy(fruits, vegetables). Well, take care and thank you!

@scottfamilyman I had surgery on December 17th...RTHR. I have had many struggles since there (and a great deal of whining). I'm really struggling with my groin pain; I'm not able to put full weight on it yet, and I'm on my walker. @craftdee did an excellent job sharing her story with me regarding her groin pain journey after surgery. You can find it on my recovery thread.
I so understand why "give it time" makes you crazy. I'm 51, and while I'm overweight, I'm very active and always on the go. This has slowed me down, made me a bit batty and gave me enormous frustration because I want to be feeling better MUCH faster. As they keep teliing me, this is a marathon, not a sprint. I thought I'd go back to work next week part time, but the way I feel right now, that isn't going to happen. I need to get out and get with people, but I am not very useful as I am right now.

We're here for you.
Lynn

Well, lot more stretching today. Felt like I could stretch out lil farther than yesterday. Trying not to overdue it though. Walked little better without that darn limp. Don't get me wrong, it's still there. 14 weeks out now! SPASMS! So how about those. They don't hurt but they sure make me nervous! What should I do for them? Anyone? Well, hope everyone had a good recovery day today? :) Oh ya, did I tell you that I'm going to need RTHR now? :( Im feeling alot of pain in the non surgical hip. AVN...Dr said I have to wait 8 more months. He wants to wait a total of one year on surgical hip. I guess! Ok, happy recovery everyone! :)

@scottfamilyman Reiki is amazing. I'm jealous of you to have your wife. I do my own, and I also do a great deal of Reiki on my animals. It's so great to see them respond to the energy change and transfer. The heat from Reiki feels good on my incision. I, myself, do a great deal of tarot card reading, and I've been missing it while I'm recuperating. I have a Thursday night gig at a wine bar nearby.

I'm just beginning week 4 and I'm so frustrated with my progress. The pain and pressure in my groin is making me scared and crazy at the same time. I miss the kids at school (I'm a high school librarian), and I'm anxious to go back. I was hoping maybe part time next week, but forward movement feels like,it's stopped, and it may not be a good idea to go back. I don't think this damn polar vortex helps either.

Rest, and I'll send good thought your way while I'm resting.
Lynn

@LibraryLynn Wow! You do Reiki? Awesome! Ya, my wife does tarot cards too. She does just about everything. :) Well, back to me. I'm almost 15 weeks out and am just BARELY starting to walk straight up. I still have that annoying antagonizing pain in groin. I guess it just takes time. I still use my cane outside. :( When I use my cane, it just seems I start to lean and depend on it and not walk straight. If I walk straight up then I have the pain unless I take a oxycodone 5-325. It sure helps. I am mentally and physically drained. We all just have our own recovery time I guess. Its in the stars! :) Question for anybody out there. Is it still ok to keep taking oxycodone 5-325mg once to twice a day at this point (15 weeks post op)? I hope you all have a safe speedy recovery out there! :)

Everyone heals differently @scottfamilyman . Take your meds for as long as you need them. They will help you get more and more mobile. When you start forgetting to take doses that is your body's signal to start weaning off the meds. For now - they will help you progress.

@Jaycey , Thank you for your recommendation! Ok, I will. Your absolutely right! I do have more mobility to be able to move around and to use my proper stance while walking without a cane aswell as for stretching. One more thing. My groin area is tight sore and stings, should I use heat or ice? Thanks! :)

Tight and sore = swelling. I would use ice to get that reduced. Elevate as well.

@Jaycey ..:) If I have alot of soreness and tightness in the groin area, is it still wise to keep trying to stretch it out or maybe not? (Hanging leg off of bed, lying flat on back while spreading legs) I guess at this point you would think I would know exactly what to do but I still haven't nailed it. "( My whining is a whole lot less now. 72 degrees here so I went outside and washed the patio down along with watering the flowers(without the cane). The sunshine sure made me feel like I can't wait for Summer. :) Since my injury is still not job related, I've been using my sick leave and vacation time. I'll run out of everything by end of January. (No pay) :( It will be at least 2 more months before I can go back to work. The no paycheck brings me down but my wife does ok and have family to help ($$) me out there. Im still waiting on Dept of Labor for approval. Anyway, I'm smiling more these days because I will retire in less than 2 years. I guess now would be a good time to have surgey, before I retire. I may need the right hip done aswell. We'll see! Oh ya, my question! What was it again? LOL Stretching? Leg lifts? I know, sometimes less is more! :) Thank you Jaycey and anyone else who wants to give me some advice. :)

@LibraryLynn ..:) Hi Lynn, ya groin pain is just no fun to deal with. It's a very slow process! :( Im 54, 187 pounds and very active aswell ( hiking, dog walking, gym). I want this all done and over with too. It will happen! :) We all just have to stay positive and strong spirited. Don't get me wrong, I've been DEPRESSED, MAD, and FRUSTATED. I've gotten past that as I know you will too, eventually. Just hang in there! :) I'm trying aswell. Take care, Scott

Thanks for the kind words @scottfamilyman. As someone said on my thread, some of us are impatient patients. I'm tight and sore tonight and sitting on ice as we speak. I know it will come, but I just want to be strolling right now, this minute. I am much better now that I'm working and driving. I need to feel like I'm moving forward. Bonesmart peeps have made this struggle so much easier. Thanks for your support Scott.

@Jaycey, Hi Jaycey and anybody reading this. I'm 15 weeks out of LTHR now. Left thigh and groin still sore. Is it safe to say that I should stop doing any exercises, leg lifts and stretching? I'm still taking oxycodone 2 to 3 times a day. I hate my limp. Ok, I'm taking next week or two off and do nothing. No exercises, leg lifts and stretching. I think with all the stretching, my muscles and soft tissues are not healing. They still hurt, sting and burn. I do ice alot. Can you give me any extra advice for this and does this sound like a good plan for me? Take care everyone, Scott

I feel your frustration. You want to move forward and stop lurching around like Quasimodo, but it just won't let you do that. You want to walk like a normal person, or at least a moderately normal person. I have found good luck with water activity, and by that I mean mainly just walking forward, backward, to the side. I also hold on to the edge of the pool and do my version of a march. We do some stretching too, but it's important not to overdo it. Stick to 20 minutes or so and build up to that, so you don't get too sore. The water gives me a sense of freedom because I can actually take a real stride and stretch my muscles.

Is it safe to say that I should stop doing any exercises, leg lifts and stretching?
Read post #56 - I think I already recommended that you do this. If you don't change something you can't compare your symptoms. Back off, rest and see if things ease. This is all a trial and error process.

@Jaycey , :) hi, yes you did but I wasn't sure about the stretching part. I did have an RN tell me to take my ibuprofen 800mg 3 times a day to fight the inflammation. So I will! Thanks Jaycey! :)
