Please don't let yourself fall into the trap of thinking you can "make" your recovery better/faster/easier. Your body heals on its own time schedule. What you CAN do, though, is make it go slower....by pushing and overdoing it. To some degree that has already happened when you've tried to endure those painful, pushing therapy sessions. Your ROM is there. Swelling from all of that is what's keeping it hidden from you. Slow down. Take things easier and let your body heal. You're only slightly more than a month out from surgery!!! That's very early in the process.
Yes, maybe some of your friends popped back in 5 weeks. There are a few people who do that. Most do not. You are 100% normal in your recovery right now...not even "slow." Also...it's quite possible that these miracle friends of yours have forgotten their own time schedule. Much like one forgets the pain of having a baby, people tend to gloss over what they went through when retelling the story. Don't compare. You are you....and you're just fine.
I disagree with your therapist's assessment that the pain you felt was scar tissue breaking up. It sounds more like she was trying to justify her coworker's actions. Scar tissue does not develop all that frequently. And when it is "broken up," it doesn't hurt and result in swelling afterwards. So take some of these comments with a grain of salt.
The most important thing is to pay attention to your body and how you feel. You are the best judge of what's working and what's not. If it hurts, it's not good. Discomfort, yes....real pain, no.
