@scaredinCA - thank you and yes, I am not feeling well. I am not used to feeling like crud, and I been feeling like this pretty much since day 1 ! I've been very very fortunate up till now w/mostly very good health. I know this will eventually pass but in the meantime, I can't seem to get out of my own way! I'm gonna give the miralax a shot. Hopefully that will help. Double dosing ! And yes, I will most certainly tell my OS, right after I tell him I'm not having the MUA!!! I'll check in soon. Thanks- be well

Just keep in mind that Miralax doesn't work right away for some people..Keep taking it until it works.. drink lots of water too. It won't hurt you, I know a little 2 yr old boy who has to take it on a daily basis for months now and maybe for life.. So if they give it to kids, you know its safer than over the counter laxatives. Walking can help also (if you don't have too much knee pain). Good luck and keep us informed when the big day arrives.:heehee:

@bumknees09 I saw my DR today. He told me to fire my pt and do the exercises on my own, do the stretch on the bed for the full extension and other exercises and said my pts rough movements were causing trauma/ We will do it while I am in getting the second leg done Sept 2 so will have two at once out of commision. He said the gentle way it is done will be a blessing after trying to follow a bad pt. and push past point of pain. I do have adhesions. He said knees seem to follow a 2 week pattern. In the beginning you get a little gain and pain relief about every two week give or take. I am getting worse into week 5. He said this next one see how I feel every two weeks. If I am not improving somewhat CALL him.

@kneeper Yeah, MY DR was MAD about her being so rough and at me for not coming in sooner. He said fibro, sjogren's and lupus patients can improve or decline for up to 2 years. I have all three and addisons plus other stuff. I knew I am at higher risk for adhesions and clots and can't take blood thinner and that I had to move. I did that starting day 1. No experience in what to expect in knee rehab for a tkr as far as how painful it should or shouldn't be. I will be for the next one.

@bumknees09 I am sure he will listen that you want to wait. It there is no progress you can have it later. I am still hoping that the several weeks till my surgery things will get better so I only have one leg mending at a time. I asked him about MUA. My Dr is who other DRs send their redo's to or high risk people like me seek out. He said he has done a total of maybe 20 in all his career and most with other conditions at play but try's to avoid unless the patient is in a lot of pain. I guess redo's on legs are complicated and have more mua's.

Are you taking the stool softeners everyday and drinking plenty of water? I know I read it somewhere that it is a good idea to take them while you are inactive. I think that is what they give you when you have babies...

Ok folks -Here it is. My OS was adamant about me having MUA done ASAP. He said as my doctor and friend (which he is) he can't stress enough how he thinks I need to have this done. I know they don't do it in other countries or even in other parts of the country but they do do it here apparently like clockwork. He said my ROM is just about where was two weeks ago. I mentioned waiting another couple of weeks and he adamantly again said he did not think I should wait because were going to be having the same conversation in two weeks. At this stage of the game, I do trust him ( I know him and his wife outside of his office) I have to go with what he's suggesting as my surgeon. And I afraid? I'm petrified. So, I'm asking all of you for is just prayers please. In fact I'm so afraid of seeing negative commentary I'm not going back on this till after it's done! Ha! Wish me luck. Thank you

@bumknees09 You will sneek a look at responses. Ha Ha!

Forums are great for help when you need more information but every case is individual and no one but you and your DR have any say in the end. I am sure that I need the MUA but hope springs eternal so having this extra time to work on it is good for me. I also can not have a spinal as have tons of herniated and collapsed discs so the time is also a time for my liver to clear out of drugs. (main reason he is waiting)
Frankly I want it!

This is just another step in your recovery that you will be able to talk about here and help the next person.

Hello all! I'm back! Had my MUA yesterday afternoon (he had it videotaped to show my husband. I didn't want to see it) As you know, I was extremely nervous going into do this - completely! They gave me a sedative, my OS did his thing, said it wasn't too bad to move, was done, had me hang around make sure was I was okay.

Got my knee to a 132. He knows and I know, that's not happening any time soon but he said that is what he got it to without a lot of work. Anyway, it's sore of course BUT that awful shooting pain that I've had since day one on the right side of my knee is completely gone!!

Went to PT today and seriously, without a lot of effort, I got it to a 92! I was thrilled. My OS Also had a CPM sent to my house this morning for me to use 3 to 4 times a day for an hour at a clip. He doesn't think too much of them but he said it certainly wouldn't hurt and he knows that I wanted one because I was told they do help a bit so he got me one!

All in all, unsurprisingly, I'm very glad I have this done. I'm actually feeling a lot better my legs feeling better overall!! Onward.......

YEAH!
Adhesions do not feel the same as swollen. I have that in the back. I liked my cpm in the beginning. It kept it moving more than I would have. I kept two weeks. Glad to hear it was easier than you thought. To me the unknown is the worst.

Glad to hear you are doing so well and hope your knee continues to improve. Did you have a lot of scar tissue? All the best!

@Jozilla - there were adhesions, which apparently is one of the reasons I couldn't bend it. Glad it's done. Hope it keeps moving in the right direction! Thanks

@bumknees09 just caught up on your thread. Sounds like the MUA did the trick and you can get on with healing. If nothing else it was worth it to get rid of that shooting pain! I hope it is all easy sailing from here on out!
