Hinged Joint Revision Complete, recovery continues

@71Beetle , She used a technique called strain counter strain, ask your massage therapist if they are familiar with it.

Tomorrow I see my GP, I know she wants me to be doing well with my Revision, I could go in with a cane, but the walk is too far. Have decided to use my crutches, the payback for using a cane to walk that far is way too much.

Finally made it into the pool today, water temp was 87, did an abbreviated version of my pool program, so far so good. Skipped the Hot Tub, my knee is warm enough already, I did not think was a good idea.

Update on the peroneal nerve injury over two years ago, the numb area on my leg is awakening, I am getting zingers just like the ones we get on our knees. They do not feel good, but I am glad to have them. Some of the feeling is coming back too!

HI Chris It must being helping you a lot having the knowledge to know what is going on with your knee. So pleased that you share that knowledge with the rest of us. What is your morale like right now? Carol

@patient 99 ,
I am feeling better about this surgery, the new alignment has been a challenge. I spent so many years walking around the crooked and shorter left leg with an unstable knee, my body has made many adaptations. Now that the leg is better aligned, my body is making all sorts of adjustments, in the long run this is for the good. Figuring out all these little bits is the hard part.
Today my TKR leg is complaining about the swimming, and that it had to do its fair share, asking why did I have to work too, why can't the right one do all the work? Answer: NO, without you, I would drown, you have to pull your weight in the pool. Well OK then..., it was fun I have to admit. :swim: Geeze, just like a kid.

@Pumpkln, acting like a kid again and having fun is just the thing to raise the spirits! Good to hear that you are feeling more positive about the revision.

Hi Pumpkln - good to read about your improvements! How long was it in between your tkr and revision?

@Pumpkln - happy to see you in good spirits. Fantastic that you got into the pool. It feels weird doesn't it? Likely not as weird as the zingers though! Good luck at your GP appointment!

@Jozilla @71Beetle ,
My revision was 2 1/2 years after my primary TKR. The water felt great, going back later in the week. The zingers feel weird, but good.
I am excited, tomorrow we are getting a major internet upgrade, for less than what we are paying now, for 12 months. Going from super slow, lots of buffering etc, to super fast (for us). And no more getting out of bed just when I am comfortable to re boot the system (this was no fun in the days after coming home). Rep said call back in 12 months and ask for a promotional price. And I got a credit for this months internet.
Just hope the switch goes off with out a hitch.
Primary visit went well, running some blood tests for electrolytes and CBC. My disabled placard runs out in July, she is extending it 6 months. I also have referral for trigger point injections for my SI joint.
Hot day and my knee did not like being out so much. Now following the mantra, knee is settling down, and walking feels OK. As part of my icing, I had a chocolate sundae.:heehee:
I hope everyone is having a healing day, one more day closer to recovery.

Hi @Pumpkln - hope your internet upgrade goes well. We just switched our phone provider and made some changes to our existing TV and internet package. We are paying about half of what we were paying a month ago with no change in service and more downloading capabilities on the internet. Now we will look at our house and car insurance to see if anything can be improved there.

Sound like you had a good visit with your GP. What are trigger point injections? I hope they work for you.

Great idea to have a chocolate sundae - of course that counts as icing! :)

I have been having trouble with swelling and heat around my knee, I have been getting on top of it this week. Using a TENS unit with ice and elevation at night, and had the the spyder kineseo taping on my knee with PT. The taping has helped considerably with the swelling and pain. I took the tape off yesterday, because it was wet. I woke up this morning with swelling and pain. I taped my knee, and the pain dropped considerably, what a relief.
It has made it a lot easier to do things around the house.

Ouch! That does not sound like fun at all! Pleased that the taping helped. Take a break from doing things around the house until it feels better and take care!

The rest of the day was good. Like you I have a massage this afternoon.
Love the photo of the lake where your family vacations.

Yes, evenings can be a challenge. I know that is a ruff time but it does get better and so does the swelling. I am so glad that everthing is working out. I also know this is a long healing process and there is no shortcut but we will be here with you. What I think would be so cool is to all meet at a lake and go for a swim when we all get well. It would be my luck that the lake would be frozen over. Oh well we can do on the interenet and know that our friendship is for a long one and that we will be there whenever you need to talk. Take care and don't forgot to :chillpill:, :ice:,:sleeep:,:elevate: and :swim:and :walking:. Keep it up and we will be able to celebrate. Tashia

Thanks for stopping by Tashia. Evenings are rough, better now that I am in bed, ice on knee, leg elevated, and medicated. I would be better off if I went to bed at 6 or 7, but I like to stay up too.
Would be great to meet at a lake, @71Beetle posted a beautiful lake photo on her thread, that would be great to be there right now.

Hey pumpkln , just catching up on your recovery. Sounds as if you are doing so so. Not exceptionally well but not too bad. Im sure you want to get to 100 percent soon , and you deserve to get well. Ill be pulling for you. I have been going to my neighborhood pool after work just to refresh. I feel so alive afterwards, water , sun and exercise. California living . Best of health to you , Iceman

Hi @Pumpkln , Chris,

The swimming sounds like fun! :swim: glad you enjoyed it.

You're making slow and steady progress - which is really good. You'll know that the swelling, the cranky evenings etc are all part of the "joy" of this recovery. I do wish we could all be issued with an extra-large serving of patience, along with our new knees. :heehee:

Thanks for stopping by my thread @icep707 @tashia and @Celle ,
Thanks for all your encouraging words, they are much appreciated.
Having trouble sleeping tonight, so here I am, all iced and medicated, waiting to doze off.
