Hip Infection* problem

:loveshwr: Sending hugs, love and wishes for a peaceful weekend! :friends:
Hope you're doing well....
@clodaghcov

@Layla Hi, im fine, all the family here so busy busy! and quite tired! but happy tired!

It has been confirmed I am to stay on the antibiotics IV and oral for another 6 weeks. I was ready for it but unfortunately means we cannot go to Crete because I would miss 5 days drugs. Sad but I cannot risk this infection staying with me. We will do something when I am finished with the drugs. Maybe we were being a bit too brave.

I started to worry about inflatable raised toilet seats!! However my son has spray painted my crutches fushia pink so I must get out on the town!! Peaceful weekend, not sure about noisy dogs and children -they make you feel slightly in awe of their continuous energy!!

Have a happy weekend all--enjoy xxx hugs x

Yes, sporting those hot pink crutches! I can understand getting anxious about getting in the middle of any chaos, but do hope you can get out for a change of scenery and a little enjoyment!
Keeping you in my prayers..
Hope your day is a good day:flwrysmile:

Hi :hi:
I'm happy to hear you're surrounded by family and enjoying the time spent together.
Sorry you have to postpone the trip to Crete. Hopefully it will be something to look forward to in the future.
Hot Pink Crutches! You'll be standing out in the crowd.
Enjoy your family time and have a great week!

@clodaghcov I had this exact same issue with itchiness and sores all over my back by one week after surgery and thank goodness my home PT nurse noticed how bad it was! They prescribed me a "Methylpredisolone medrol pack " of 21 4mg tablets to resolve the problem for me, In addition, I applied benedryl creme to my back, and the problem resolved in a few days.

I was just miserable, and also thought I might be allergic to the implant material. So please try this if you have not tried it already!! And best of luck in getting this resolved!! You have suffered enough pain already!

It has been so lovely and busy but my 8 year old grandaughter was diagnosed with shingles. I have never heard of a child with shingles so I have learnt something! The doctors have been jumping around and taken my zoster varicella blood test. I have never had chicken pox so maybe I am immune but my crp has gone up to 44 which maybe relevant. I'm worried with all that's happened to me. Tomorrow is another day xxx

Ugh! Poor dear woman :console2: Prayers for your protection.
I've never heard of a child having Shingles either. Hopefully it's short lived and not too severe.
Something's gotta give here. Hopefully your full house is serving as a healthy distraction.
Keep us posted.
@clodaghcov

@clodaghcov Oh no, I hope your granddaughter recovers quickly. I've never heard of that either. Prayers that you remain shingles free. On a good note, I'm so glad you are enjoying the time with your family. Pink crutches are totally my style, love it! You'll be able to enjoy a holiday soon! Sending lots of hugs!

:hi:You ARE NOT allowed to get shingles, @clodaghcov ...just so you know.:no-fin:
Poor grand baby.
I want to get a shot but insurance won't pay till I get older.
I had the worst case of chicken pox ever as a child so the theory is I would be ever so susceptible to have it in my system.:nah:

Hope you are hanging in there.
I hate to see that Fractured has similar complications...but you are so kind as to offer some comfort and support.
It's the essence of BoneSmart.
Sending you grateful hugs..and wishes for a Good Day!:roseshwr:

It certainly is the essence of BoneSmart. We all need each other especially when things do not go as planned. I so hope they can sort him out without too much pain but we will all get there. It doesn't matter how long. It's not a race. We just must always be supportive and kind. Just like you Mojo xxx hugs

PS I have warded the shingles away xx

Gosh, I don't think I have ever heard of a case of shingles in a child. Poor thing! I had a horrid case of chicken pox as a child so paid to have the shingles jab a few years ago. Hope your granddaughter recovers quickly.

Hi :hi:
Sending some love from across the pond :loveshwr:
Hope you had a nice weekend.
Not sure if family is still visiting, hope you're getting enough rest if they are.
Wishing you a week full of comfort :friends:

@Layla is there a way I can see how people with bone infections in the past are faring? Realization is dawning that this infection may never completely go and I am going to be living with it I am curious if other people have experienced this. My crp is very slowly dropping from 44 to 38 slow but sure I just need to keep positive and go happily forward. Hugs xxxx

What makes you think this will be the case? Has someone indicated this could happen?

Hi @clodaghcov
In locating your thread if you tap on the red bar by your name that denotes "Hip Infection" all of the threads of those that dealt with infection will pop up.

I'm curious about the question Jaycey posed above. I believe our bodies are in a state of repair each day.
I wouldn't give up hope that you can beat that infection. I know you're taking a pro-biotic to strengthen your immune system and I believe you spoke with a hospital nutritionist. Not sure what they advised but this is what I found in a quick online search - Foods that are beneficial in boosting your immune function:

Citrus Fruits - Grapefruit, Oranges,Tangerines, Lemons, Limes, Clementines All high in Vitamin C as well as Red Bell Peppers.
Broccoli - cooked as little as possible. Spinach cooked as little as possible.
Cauliflower
Kale
Avocado
Garlic
Ginger
Yogurt with live active cultures.
Almonds
Turmeric
Green Tea
Papaya
Kiwi
Bone Broth
Sunflower Seeds.

Get cookin, woman!

Sending lots of love :loveshwr: we're behind you in support. Don't give up hope.

@Layla and @Jaycey Yes this has been discussed with the orthopaedic nurses who come each day to give me IVs. As you perhaps know, this has now been going on over a year and although we are all positive well and coping well with all the goings on, the nurses have explained about biofilm and the way the infection hides Obviously this is why they are leaving me over 6 months before considering a new prosthesis.

I am doing and taking everything that is likely to improve my immune system and will never give up of hoping for a complete recovery, but, in life sometimes it is better to consider all aspects. I just would have been interested to see how many peoples' infections had been completely eradicated or whether they popped back and forth. We had a wonderful time with the family here but nice now to quiet down---I have immunity against shingles so i am safe from that!!

Just a bit of deep thinking going on now but we are happy fighting and well, but would like my CRP to drop from36 i certainly hoped after8 weeks it would be lower!!. Hugs and love xxx

Hi @clodaghcov
All you can do is try your best and not give up hope.
Wondering if you've read SCaprae's thread.
His was a long journey but he seems to be doing really well now.
Where there's breath, there's hope.
Wishing you comfort and wellness.

:wave:Glad they explained all to you..you can do this.
I know it's been a long road and isn't over yet but I want very much for you to get this behind you eventually.
You know you have your fan club by your side!:friends:
Hope today was a good day!

Any news in your world, dear one?
I see you sprinkling cheer around the forum and hope this week has been a good one for you.
We're going into a long 3 day holiday weekend here in the states. Labor Day on Monday and many will be off work. Not all, but many.
I hope your weekend is all you want it to be!
Hugs
@clodaghcov

Read your entire post, am thinking that my experience has been insignificant in comparison. You strike me as an incredibly strong individual. Keep it up.
