Bilateral THR Oh 'dreams' exactly as visioned

@mikeycat you sound like you're doing so well! Love that you're getting to wear your new capris, even with the stockings underneath. I so dread the thought of having to wear them for however long they decided, might have to lose them in the wash. :heehee:

Getting out of chairs and bed without assistance is pretty amazing, you should seriously be proud of yourself! Glad you're feeling better and the sun is shining for you, just remember to not get carried away and over do it!
:kitty:

@mikeycat I have not tried standing up from a chair without using my arms to push me up. I do walk around the house some without my cane, but then I do limp a little so use my cane too.
You sound like you are really making improvements rapidly, it just happens suddenly at a certain point. I wish I could SLEEP at night. Ugggg. My worst enemy, nighttime. I was up half the night playing games on my computer and wandering around the house. I cannot get my leg comfortable to sleep.... Glad you are upbeat today. Well at least its sunny today here. ❤

@Cecropia have you tried chamomile tea? I'll swear by it and I am not the best of sleepers on a good night for over the last 20 years so... I also have a banana with milk also seems to have a calming effect. I wish you could SLEEP too as it is the best medicine yup coming from someone who gets 4 hours in a day.
Today I walked with PT down the street (with cane only) double the distance. I really have no pain save the twinge in my back which I had pre-op. It is sacral and related to my hip compensation which will be corrected in re-hab. I will only be using the cane and have ditched the walker. I am going to rehab 2x a week for 6 weeks starting next week. I think you will recover in time as we are all different but I feel you. Take heart be patient as I know you are(I am not) my downfall. I 'm a bit of a nut thinking of all the things to do and how to execute them. I also have been pampered here and I am truly grateful and must send many thank yous out beginning with my OS and nurses and PT and the ladies so charming who come to my home, this supportive wonderful place that has guided, encouraged, championed us all, but most of all to the love of my life. I am truly humbled by this all and hopefully I can give back.

@mikeycat Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried the tea, didn't work.:chinstroke: I love reading your post, things are going well for you. Today I've been all over my house without the cane, but not ready to go walking far outside without it. I've always had insomnia, my mom, sisters, brother has it and so did my grandmother. It's a little worse with the surgery finding a comfy way to sleep. But I'm doing okay and you are doing EXCELLENT! :happydance:
I did have my husband set up my electric hedge trimmers, all ready for me and I trimmed 2 of my shrubs. Took 10 minutes and did not have to bend over because my blade is long. Then he cleaned all up. I have more to do but will take my time and use the same method with husband maybe 2 a week. My OS said I could do it, so I tackled 2 of them today. Now resting. I do feel some pain now putting most of my weight on the surgery leg where the ball and socket is, but not too bad. My OS said it was to do with the surgery and stuff they had to do to prepare the socket..
Anyway I remember how you were concerned before the surgery and you are knocking it out of the ballpark now. Im so glad you had it done. :yes:
Keep on truckin.....:egypdance:

That was an understatement Cecropia. I was positively apoplectic and terrified.Now it's the back sacral thing--always something,eh?(faithful to my roots here) Glad to see you are able to get around your garden. It must be so rewarding and encouraging.

@Elf1 Thank you thank you. I feel like'me'again. Don't know who that other thing was.The PT said I lost weight probably because I wasn't eating but I'm ok now. Your date is fast approaching. Is this your first hip replacement? I know you have had spinal, right?

So yes everybody I overdid it yesterday. I am sore and swollen but I'll live to regret another foolish accomplishment of that I am sure. Yippee 1st shower last night with the assistance of hubby who turned on the shower to adjust the temp. Had a chair and rails in the walk-in and a hand shower. Of course, of course, I dropped the soap. I thought I had gel soap as I have a long handled washer with sponge but the gel soap dispenser wasn't there. I washed my hair and noticed the hair loss. I still have those strips which will dissolve in 10 days but it is disconcerting.May everyone have a pain-free sunny week-end.

First showers are the best! I'm sorry you overdid it yesterday and are feeling the result today.
Hopefully it's short-lived. Try lots of rest and icing and I'm sure you'll bounce back quickly. You've been doing so well. Your progress has been amazing. I'm very happy for you, mikeycat.
Have a lovely day! :SUNsmile: :flwrysmile:
@mikeycat

@mikeycat
Wonderful wonderful progress!
So good to hear!
They said leave my strips on 3-4 days after my initial occlusive dressing came off at 2 weeks. Good golly, they really stuck --after over a week i started gently helping them ,off my wound was totally closed over at that point.
Enjoy your shower:bath:!!!

My strips are still sticking since last Tuesday... gee. They don't even look like they want to come off. They put them on because I had oozed almost 3 weeks.Will have another shower today.And eventually I will do what you did. I look frankensteinian enough.

Awaiting the stocking lady-gee 8 am Sunday--my day of rest.Not looking forward to next week's re-hab. Finally after 2 days the pain and stiffness is ebbing from all the activity of Friday.

Glad your pain is better. I'm up and down too with the pain. But I like your comment that Sunday is your day of rest... you have a lot going on....I don't have anyone coming to the house anymore nor am I going to PT outside of home. So I can rest more if I need to, which I need to.:yes: I want to do too much, it's hard to hold back. ❤

Ooh I do envy you. My hubby says to forego next week's re-hab--they want me on a cane and I will only have a taxi and they just dump you. I haven't received a callback from the volunteer 'senior citizens' accompaniment/travel unit. I'm a senior citizen--when did that happen???But I know the community schedule (CLSC)co-joined to the hospital and OS and I don't know if I can postpone. I will see. It is a mere 10 blocks from my house but I don't have the car neither could I drive anyway so I need this transport service.

@mikeycat yay to the shower and independent sitting and standing! You’re doing fab
The last three days I’ve turned another corner so fingers crossed that’s you ASAP as you’re just behind me
A bit of sunshine helped too

I am able to stand up with incredible strength in shower like when I had no hip problems--so I take my shower without assistance and when I want-good.I have laid low for a bit here at home but I am stiff and sore--not very happy. I am impatient to get out walking even to the corner where I can get my hair cut so I wont look so awful and I hate those strips. Awaiting the stocking lady--always different times and I want to put on my street clothes. Need to stay in gown to facilitate the putting on of those compression things.

:hi: Sounds like someone has ants in their pants :heehee: I can tell you're rarin' to go!
In feeling so much better I imagine it's difficult to sit still.
I hope you'll continue to balance rest with activity. I'd hate to see you suffer any setbacks because you're doing so well!
Have a lovely Monday @mikeycat :loveshwr:

Oh needn't worry Layla because when I do too much the incisions ache and swell and I feel like i have bricks holding me back . And that generally stays for a day or 2 so yes setbacks.
