Yes, I had tkr to go back to my athletic life-- of being able to work and do my household tasks without agony. :heehee:

Hello, one and all -

Apologies for the radio silence over the last few days, but I was busy, busy, busy!

I am now an official member of the ODIC - but it was so worth it. Last weekend I did cleaning, dusting and polishing. The beginning of the last week, saw me furniture moving and cleaning and sorting, then this weekend more cleaning, floor cleaning and lots of cooking. I am now on an official 'go slow'.

The knee is a tad stiffer than normal and was a bit painful last night, having stood nearly all day doing food prep, laying table, cleaning floors ....... etc and then running our Charity Progressive Supper in aid of the Willow Foundation. Everybody taking part has a living room on the first floor - so lots and lots of ups and downs and an hour's standing at the beginning and end. I did not heed @Ellejay's warnings of not doing too much - and had a rather disturbed night as a result, but it was all in a good cause. We raised over £4000! The President of the charity told us that we had raised enough last night, to pay for a whole 'Special Day' for one of their many deserving recipients.

My starter worked perfectly, as did the dessert and I'm having to email the recipe to those who want to make it for themselves. Perhaps I should charge them and get them to put a bit more money to the final total!?

I am now back in SW London, a wee bit achy and very tired - but delighted that we achieved such a great result.

A few days here, and then back to the seaside. Never a dull moment!
Finishing off a patchwork quilt for my Mum's neighbour's birthday tomorrow - then PT on Tuesday and a visit to my Mum. Hairdressers on Wednesday and daughter has follow up appointment with Prof about her hearing, then back down to the coast again for the weekend on Thursday, as hubby has a weekend regatta and it is the town carnival. Processions, dog shows, music and fireworks - I cannot wait!

Hopefully now that things seem to be working better on this site and I am not rushed off my feet, I will be back to posting normally again.

My daughter says my avatar makes me look like an owl, with my glasses on - so have decided to update. Looking a bit tired at the end of yesterday's event, but no glasses! Instead they are in their habitual position on the top of my head!

Early to bed tonight, but will catch up soon.

Hate to say "I told you so" but.....
Congratulations on the amount raised, that is absolutely brilliant, well done you!

Congratulations on the event - that's fantastic!! And stiff or not - you could DO all of that, most excellent.

Good job Chris! Congratulations on such a great success! I posted a bit ole' ramble to you on my thread. Good luck loading the page. ;-) xoxoxoxo

Ha ha - Martha Stewart my eye!
I wish ........ I had her money and her empire. My daughter and I love her, and its quite spooky as we were only talking about her last night. Hard hitting, no nonsense, totally ruthless business woman - peddling homespun, diy fixes in this modern world. She is laughing all the way to the bank ............ with a hand embroidered cheque book cover in her purse. Yep I would love to be Martha Stewart, or whoever had the idea for Pinterest - same audience, same market, same money rolling in.

Glad you are having a good time and haven't murdered your sister. How about a first novel Susanne?
'Death on Fire island' - has a kinda ring to it?

Take care and talk soon

XXX (BTW - Hope the shoulder is doing OK).

Sending my deepest and warmest condolences on the demise of your dishwasher. And toaster. How are you holding up? They say bad things happen in 3s, so let's just hope it's not the Kitchen-Aide mixer that bites it next as we'll all be heartbroken to miss our weekly cake postings. ;-) xoxoxoxoxo

Ooh, that's great that Neff could fit you in earlier than planned, I hope they manage to repair it ( or are we all hoping for a new one?) I am also entertaining a repairman tomorrow - one of the foot rest mechanisms on my sofa has broken and it needs a specialist to repair it. My husband is on a course tomorrow, so I hope I can get to the front door before the repairman gives up and drives off :rotfl:.
Daughter has just turned up with massive bouquet of flowers, she admits they are 'guilt' flowers, I told her they weren't necessary but she insisted they were so I won't turn them down.
I keep meaning to ask, how did the goat dishes do? Were they good?

Thank you so much for your deepest sympathy on the passing of my geriatric appliances @DogLoverx3 - I would really be heartbroken if my Kitchen aid took poorly.

@Ellejay - hope your sofa gets fixed OK. Made me laugh about you being able to get to the door in time. When I was home alone after the TKR I used to stick a sign up on the front door that said 'Please be patient - I move VERY slowly, but I will get there eventually'.
No I really want to keep the dishwasher - it has done well to date as we were the first owners of the house, and I don't think 15 years is too bad. We have decided to completely gut the kitchen in a couple of years time and so I am just hoping that everything can hold out until then, as I really want to take the kitchen back to the walls and start from scratch.
As for the goat - it is still in my freezer while I decide what to do with it.

Enjoy your flowers and sleep well

Hi @dogwheels, I hope that your journey home went well. I just wanted to say a big thank you for your support yesterday. As I thought, I'm fine today, still in pain but I can cope with it, whereas yesterday it just got me down, a feeling I am luckily totally unfamiliar with and just couldn't cope with. I am back on stronger painkillers and taking them regularly as with the TKR, something I just didn't think I'd need at this stage after an arthroscopy. I see the PT on Thursday, and as I said I will phone, probably tomorrow, to make sure that he has my notes, and can tell me what was done. I'm sure it was lot more than a basic washout.
I'm being very sensible today, doing a small job and then sitting, or better still, sitting whilst doing a small job. My husband has already prepared all the veg for tonight's dinner, our daughter will be joining us. The big job of the week is to get all the plums and apples into the freezer in various forms, before we go away next Saturday. That was what set me off yesterday, I'd been standing in the kitchen for too long. But, I've learnt from my mistake and now I'm just doing a few at a time. So what if the oven isn't absolutely full each time, the crumbles and pies will be made in the end.
Good luck with your decorators, and thank you again.

@dogwheels I hadn't realised your back had hurt. I am really behind, but it sounds like it has been sorted. I also love grey being spelled grey instead of gray....just saying. I would love to know the history of how all the spelling of these words got changed and how accents evolved. That fascinates me. I haven't popped in here in an age so really wanted to. I am so glad about your daughter. She has a whole new world opening up to her.....and being able to pick a colour, I never knew.
hoping your day is a good day.

Hi all that come here from time to time.

Firstly a bit of a weird apology from me. I was replying to @susanne a few posts back and rather naughtily used a couple of letters and couple of asterisks instead of a very widely used UK slang word for 'derriere'. I see it has been edited by a moderator to another word - smacked wrist to dogwheels for trying to sneak in a rude word surreptitiously.
I have no issue with the word being removed, however I was shocked to read the replacement word that was supplied. It grieves me to say that in my neck of the woods, this is a whole lot worse word to use, and one that would never pass my lips, let alone use in a post, with or without missing letters. I will therefore remove the word, if I can work out how to do so - failing that the whole post. Sorry to make a fuss but it is a word I really don't like and do not wish to be associated with. I think the problem may have occurred as the word does not have quite the same meaning across the pond, as it does in UK.

My apologies if you have read this and been offended, either by the original disguised word or the replacement. Now can anyone tell me how to get rid of the offending thing? Or could a moderator remove the post for me please?

*Note to Dogwheels - watch what you say or allude to and no more cheeky words - smacked wrist*

Hi @Ellejay - I am back home now and have just had a catch up and wanted to deal with the issue in the post above.
Sorry that you are still in pain and have had to up the meds, but perhaps that is just what is necessary at the moment? I really hope that the PT can shine a light on why this scope has been so different for you and help with some strategies to get it moving again and ease the pain.
Doing a bit of meal prep must have made you feel a little more 'normal' today. Hope you have a nice meal with your daughter this evening. Sunday night for us is usually steak, as I always have loads in the freezer and its quick and easy once we are back home.
Hope the apples and plums get prepped and frozen OK - you can always defrost and use later one cant you, and your knee will thank you for it!

I am waiting for some pics from my daughter. She is in Norfolk, cat-sitting for her BF's parents while they are away. Today BF - obviously trying to clock up 'Brownie points' has taken her to an animal park. Evidently there is a petting zoo with ratties so she will be in her element, as long as she doesn't try and sneak one out!

Anyway - enjoy your evening Lyn and I hope tomorrow sees some improvement in the left knee department.

Take care

I'm the queen of 'edited' posts. Funny how different words have different meanings across the globe. If it's the 'f' word that's there now, that's a totally benign word in the US. I completely understand your wanting to remove it, change it, whatever if it offends you though. At the bottom of each of your posts you should see an 'edit' option off to the right. Just click that and it will allow you to change anything you'd like in your post. xoxoxo

Der, it's kind of off to the left, not right.....geesh, it's like I'm new here or something ;-)

Thanks Ellen!!
I am not usually prissy about this sort of thing - just hate that word, and not at all what I wanted to say ........ or would say.
Not sure of the US equivalent - so better find out, to make sure I don't put it on here by mistake!

If it would be helpful, I would be happy to list all the US slang terms for one's posterior end. ;-)

Thanks Ellen, but as you probably know, the word used is not what I would necessarily call posterior! Eek I better stop before I really get in trouble.
Help I found the edit/delete box but it only appears on today's posts not on earlier ones. What am I doing wrong?
