CIA???:secretaea:

How's the healing going? .And another Question for my Young friend how much walking are you doing a day and are you off 2 cruches yet??..:what:..I so wish I could drive...:rolleyespink:

Happy Healing,

donnie

Hey Donnie, I was reading back through my posts and realised I must have missed your CIA reference lol......no such luck :th_heehee: I work for the Australian welfare department. Not nearly as exciting as the CIA!
Oh also I drove yesterday just to my folks place which isn't far....maybe half a mile? Felt good to drive but getting out hurt a little for me, being that my operated leg goes in first so I let my daughter drive home! I think I will stay as passenger for another couple of weeks.
Hope you are doing well

Hi Tanya, just caught up with your story. It sounds like you are making excellent progress. I, too, use prior-to-surgery pain to gauge my success. Somewhere around week four I finally felt that the surgery pain was at or less than the pre-surgery pain, and it has all been bonus from there, right? Keep updating. Our surgery dates are fairly close, so I enjoy reading your updates!

Hi homeschooling mom, yes I definitely use pre surgery pain as a gauge and I'm pleased to say that tomorrow I'm 5 weeks post op, I rarely take pain meds and I'm walking unaided! I recommend this surgery to anyone requiring it......its such an amazing feeling to go from intense bone on bone mega pain to practically nothing!
Hope you are doing well
Tanya :)

Hi Tanya
Just checking posts today to see how everyone is doing. I am glad your recovery is going so well. It takes so much patience, which I was running short on sometimes especially when it slowed down.
I read your prior posts, and funny, but I just retired last Friday after working for 34 years for the welfare department here in our state. Small world.
Take care and I hope that your healing will progress.

Hi Tanya

Fantastic that life is returning to normal for you, and great that you had a trial practice at driving.. good that you are waiting a couple more weeks though before getting behind the wheel again.

I think from memory you go back to work on 21 April, have I got that right?

We must connect through work as we both work for the federal Govt. :)

That would be fun to chat occasionally when you are back at work?

Lots of love and Happy Easter...

Wahoo! I have four days off... Xoxoxoxox

Hi Donnie, my motivation for laps aroubd the block is not fantastic but I really need to get myself moving as I only have a couple of weeks before I'm back at work.....I have only gone for short walks so far so I probably need to step that up a bit.
Hope you are doing well?
Have a great easter :)
Tanya xx

Hey Sandy,
I am feeling better all the time and life is definitely returning to normal faster then I thought it would. (which is fantastic)
I return to work on Monday 23rd of April so almost correct :).
Would love to chat with you through work, what department are you with?
It's such a small world!
Have a fantastic Easter and enjoy your 4 day break.
Hugs Tanya xxx

Hi Tanya

I will email you from work next week, so that you have my work details. I think I have figured out which agency you work for, so will be able to ring you. will tell more in my email.

I am not doing enough walking.... Long hours working certaunnly gets in the way....

Lots of love
Sandy

Hi Sandy, that sounds good....I look forward to chatting with you some more. Hope you've had a great 4 day break and don't work too hard when you head back to work.
Hugs

Hi Tanya

Nice to hear everything is hunky dory and your are doing fine, hopefully your return to work will be agreed with your manager and your will be on part time work trust me it is a shock to the system.
I was on flexible hours for the first month and the first two weeks were quite tiring with me heading for home around 2:00-3:00pm in the afternoon.
Do you have stairs to climb as this can be tiring as well as i did no lift in the work and I was on the second floor if so does your work have a decent stair rail to give you support.
Mind take care on your return

Billy

Hi Tanya

Decided to take a flex day today.. Have too many hours up... Got asked to take it..

So will return tomorrow and email you first thing.

Lots of love and hugs

Hi Billy,
I have discussed my return to work with the occupational healthy and safety people from work. Working for the government is a blessing in this situation as we do have flexible working hours. I will be returning to my previous part time roster but. Know my manager and team leaders are all exceptionally supportive and if I need to leave then it won't be an issue. We do have stairs (undercover parking and no lift) but I'm permitted to park upstairs due to my disability, again my work place are very supportive, I'm very lucky :)

Sandy I understand completely and hope you enjoyed an extra day off :)
Hugs Tanya xxx

So great that things are working out for your back to work coming up. Great you can park upstairs. I have to say I am a little envious of your progress. I am only a week behind you and still need the cane all the time. I know, I know, we are not supposed to compare haha, hard not to. I am so glad for you. Hope things continue to go well. Enjoy your last bit of freedom before work begins -Cathy

Thanks Cathy,I am looking forward to getting back to work....just having some sort of normality in my life again will be great.
No we are not meant to compare progress and everyone does heal differently but I do understand, it's very hard not to in this situation! I don't mean anything offensive by this so please don't take it that way but it might just be an age thing too, being a few years younger tends to help bounce back a little quicker!
Happy healing Cathy

Hi Tanya

Guess what, I had to take another toil day... With the 11.5 hour days I have been putting in for the past month, I have built up too many hours... So here I am snuggled in bed at the luxurious tine of 8:39 am.... What bliss!

Not surprised that work has kicked in with your RTW plan, this is such a benefit working with the Comm Gvt. Especially nice, considering we are all undergoing efficiency dividend cuts! I did actually find that physically and emotionally I improved when I went back to work (although, be aware of the energy drain - you definitely will be looking forward to those days off). I think getting back into work mode mind wise is a great benefit. Also having the support of fabulous teams around you is the best.

I think you are so right, it is far easier to recover when one is younger, not to say older folk dont get there, but it Is more about different lifestyles, family commitments etc... Me as everyone knows, I am counting downtown retirement... Mmmmm let me count the days...119weeks, 834 calendar days... Then Sth Coast here we come! :)

Well, I am going to get up now and have a lazy brekky and then who knows... Read a book, watch a dvd, sleep... But no housework !

Lots of love, looking forward to chatting from work :)

No offense taken on the age thing haha. ...and though envious, I am so glad for you and look to the people who are doing well for inspiration. Keeps the things I look forward to close at hand and that is a good thing :) have a great day. Cathy

Thanks Sandy, I agree there is a definite advantage to working for the comm govt, they have been nothing but 100% supportive. Prior to my surgery I had taken very little personal leave....didn't matter how much pain or how bad my leg was I would just get up and go to work with a smile on my face and I think they have really appreciated the fact that I just kept doing my best no matter what :)

I also must say I'm starting to sleep better finally, it feels like everything is falling into place.....just in time for my return to work (only 4 sleeps to go lol)

Sandy I hope you had a lovely relaxed day yesterday xx
Hugs Tanya xxx

Hi Tanya

Thanks for popping by on my thread...

Did you hear about the landslide on the Kings Highway... Cant see it getting fixed in a hurry. It is a road in dire need of upgrading, but have no idea how it could be done given the road runs along the rock face on one side and the drop on the other side.

What about your weekend, have you had a good Saturday?

Try to rest a bit tomorrow, you will be fine for Monday. It will be more of a relaxed day, catching up on emails and chats.

Take care and big hugs xx

Hi Sandy,

I just went back to your thread and saw the photo you posted....oh my goodness!!! I hope no one was hurt!

I did have a good Saturday, I took my mum out for morning tea as it was her birthday then we went to the jewelry shop and she picked out herself a new watch for her birthday. (I would rather her choose something she likes and I just pay the bill then me get the wrong one lol)

I did grocery shopping by myself for the very first time in more then a year. This was a big achievement for me as it's something I have struggled with for a long time! Then I had a quiet night with my girls watching TV as hubby decided to go fishing with our son.

Well tomorrow is the big day, returning to work.....I'm a little nervous but I'm sure I'll be ok. I will post again tomorrow with an update of my first day back at work. :)
Happy healing everyone.
