Thanks ladies, I'm still getting the pain....it's like a cramp in the front part of my thigh and it's only happening when I move in certain ways....I'm getting a little frustrated as it's when I get in the car and laying in bed. 2 of the most important things. Oh well I will be ok,rest rest rest :)
Hope you are all well
Tanya xx

Hi Tanya, thanks for posting good wishes on my thread, I appreciate the support members have given me this weekend.. It has not been fun and it is not over yet..

But back to your pain. You describe it as a cramp. This makes me think that you could have a Magnesium deficiency. Mag is one of the critical minerals needed for healing muscles along with Calcium. In fact they go hand in hand, and in a normal body (not that I am saying yours is not normal :) especially one healing from major surgery, these two minerals stay in balance. But when there is an event like a surgical event which directly affects the muscles this delicate balance can get out of whack. Magnesium deficiency is the prime supplement for cramps in muscles.

I would suggest if you have a Naturopath you can go to, they will prescribe a standardised Mag supplement. Standardised means that there are regulatory checks of the manufacturer of the batch-to-batch consistency of the supplement. Practitioner only supplements carry that guarantee.

I have to put a disclaimer here, as a qualitfied, registered Nauturopath, I am not giving you specific medical advice, only generalized information, as I am covered under a specific Act.

Take care and do try to see a Naturopath if you want/feel like it xoxoxoxox

Thanks for that suggestion Sandy, I will look into it....I'm willing to give anything a go at this point :)

Hi Wendy and welcome, my recovery has been remarkable until just recently but I'm going to the gym now and building strength which is great :)
Good luck with your recovery as well
Tanya

Tanya....I'm going to tag Josephine so that she can comment as well. @Josephine:

I hope you are resting, icing, elevating and taking pain meds for now. You may need a few days or even a week for this to calm down.

I'm going to the gym now and building strength
Honey, you are only 12 weeks out and it's still much too soon for you to be talking about 'building strength'! Your muscles aren't weak, they are damaged and need more time to heal yet. Especially considering you were only just complaining of a sudden increase in pain. That pain was/is post-op pain and if you don't want to make it worse and long lasting (chronic) then you need to leave the gym for a few more weeks. Don't forget you are back at work now and that's about as much as your poor body will cope for a while yet.

I guess because I have felt so well and can walk now better then I have in probably the last 5 years I'm taking for granted that I should just be able to do things and not have pain. I will heed your advice Jo and take it easier. Thank you all so much, goodness knows where I would be without this group :)

Hi Tanya, I have been a tad busy this past week.. but back to catch up with all my BS friends.

It is easy to think that because the pain is gone, we are good to go... but even at 6 months, I know that I still have so much healing happening inside.

Take it easy hon, it is enough that you are working, plenty of time to get more physical.. sending hugs and love xxx

Hey Tanya, have not caught up with you in a while. I see you had a scare. Whew! Glad it is muscular and not something else. I am sure it is frustrating for you as you were sailing along so well with very few issues. Just keep saying to yourself, "this too shall pass" and before you know it, it will.

Not the same thing, but I had a muscle thing going for a while that again made it painful to get in and out of the car. I was like, hey wait a minute, I already moved past this one. Hard to not keep moving solidly forward.

Be smart and listen to your body and I am sure you'll be back on track soon. Hang in there, Cathy
