Awe Bonnie, feeling your pain. It's so frustrating to push and push to only get 2 degrees, and who's to say the measurement is accurate each time, one of my worries at times like these.

I am sure that OS appointment can't come soon enough. Hang in there, with you in spirit!

Dawn

My best wishes to your daughter---the picture of the wedding was very beautiful!

I do hope and pray that your visit to the new OS brings new insight and movement in the right direction for you! How frustrating it must be!

So happy that you were really able to enjoy it and all the festivities. Praying the new doc can find some answers for you.

Take care and keep posting. We care.

Thank you referee54, it's been a very long time since I've heard from you. It means a lot to me to have you pop in. I am going back to that Physical Therapy (the new place) tomorrow for one last time. I know it won't help, but if I go then it cannot be said that I didn't do the therapy. It is about 26 miles from home so 52 miles RT. I am burning gas, getting home late and paying a co-pay all for no gain. So no matter what the new Doc says on Tuesday if he sends me to Physical Therapy I'll just go back to my original Physical Therapy, closer to home, they don't charge me a co-pay and I like them very much!

bottomshollow, Yes the wedding shoes were great! We you able to see hers? A coral color pair of Converse All Stars and his navy of course. It was very cute. I tried to post a picture of me and my husband but it kept telling me the file was too large :-( but it was the same size as my daughter's photo. I'll try again!

Here I am with my husband on the beach just after the wedding. We are watching the photographer take pictures of them. Who ever would have thought that just over a year ago that we'd e here after my husbands near fatal illness. We are blessed for sure!

Great pics Bonnie! You have a happy looking family! It's amazing what a year can do when you think the world is collapsing beneath you!

Congrats in all ways!

Well I went to the physical therapy today, that I said I would not go to anymore. When I arrived they measured my ROM first and it was 100 degrees. After some soft tissue work (hands on) she pushed me to a painful 105. Then told me that she was going to call my doctor and see if he will prescribe pain pills for me to take before I come so she can "really crank on me" (her words). She put an ankle weight on me and had me do wall slides then really pushed my leg down where she says she measured 118. It hurt a lot, that is certainly not a functional 118. Now tonight my knee is swollen and stiff. I've been icing and elevating. I just hope I get some good answers from the new doctor on Tuesday. I don't know that I want to drug myself several days a week so they can force or try to force some flexion. What do you all think? If the new doctor says more PT, do you think I should go that route?

Bonnie, I was in a similar cycle at pt after my original TKR. I would go in, they would push and crank and almost sit on my knee. At one point they tag teamed me; one holding my heel and the other pushed down with all his might, red faced and clearly working hard. It hurt like hell and only got me a few degrees that never were maintained. It was a never ending cycle. I decided eventually it wasn't worth it.

I would never go back to that, ever. I'm not sure what your next steps should be but I did the routine described above for weeks and never had a result I could maintain. In my case, I ended up with more surgery to remove what was extensive scar tissue and it worked. I went to a different pt after that surgery and just plain took it easy. I followed skigirl recovery who had similar issues and my results have been very good. I'm not doing the things she is, and that's okay by me.

I do feel your frustration. Hoping you get answers that produce concrete results!

Dhare63 Thank you Dawn for your input. I know from everything I have ever learned and read on Bonesmart for over two years was that pushing and torturing at PT is not the right thing to do. I didn't know if two years post op was different though since my healing is done. They say I have scar tissue in my knee and the doctor I am going to on the 23rd did scope a lot of scar tissue from someone here in Houston that I became acquainted with. She had excellent results and I am hoping that he can do the same for me. I don't need to have 135 again but I want to be able to pedal a bike again, and walk/jog for several miles at a time. I am a very active athletic outdoorsy kind of person, but there is nothing I can do outside now. I pretty much lift weights for upper body and core strengthening. While that does make me happy, I want to be able to do a little more and at least not hurt like I do now. Tuesday cannot come soon enough!

Happy happy happy! I'll be doing the happy dance soon!!!
Saw the new doctor this afternoon, took him all the info I had with a timeline of everything I've been through and done. His assistant spent a lot of time with me first, reading everything and talking to me asking many questions, then typed up notes for the doctor to read before he came in to see me.
They both came to the room and the doctor asked me many questions spending a lot of time with me, moved my leg around, had me stand and stoop slightly, felt around my knee while laying down, seeing how far it would bend without pain. He said that I was a scar tissue grower for sure it is strangling my knee. He could feel several places where he said there was scar tissue for sure and really felt it was due to my two bike falls in November of 2011 then due to sitting still while Dave was in the hospital for two months (doing nothing). Because prior to the November bike falls I was doing great with a ROM of 132, but growing like a weed the scar tissue has been taking over. My ROM today was 90 degrees. He is going to scope my knee, cut out scar tissue, cauterize it and get me as much ROM as he can. He says that in my case it will be at least an overnight stay (maybe more) in the hospital in the Texas medical center, because he wants my leg moving ASAP after surgery so no more scar tissue can start growing, so they will put me on a CPM machine with a catheter of Lidocane. He says that since my muscles are not used to stretching any more in that leg that the Lidocane is to settle down the nerves so there is not so much pain with movement. He wants me in outpatient physical therapy by the 4th day. He is also sending a CPM machine to my house so I can keep up the motion on my own. Get off crutches ASAP and do as much weight bearing as possible.
I have to get a clearance for surgery from my primary care doctor and once they get that release I can have surgery in about a week after receiving it. I already have my primary doc appt set up for this Thursday at 2pm. Once they fax my release over, hopefully I can schedule surgery by next Monday. My daughter Lacy went with me, she said that I looked like a kid with a new toy when he told me he'd scope my knee. I am so happy about this because now I am hoping I can get on with my life and not think about this knee again!
Maybe by September I can start walking, a little jogging and pedal a bike again!!

Bonnie, that is wonderful news. Let me know the date of your procedure and your location, and I willl check on you. You'll be in good hands.Dorothy

I know that I will be in Methodist Hospital in the medical center Dorothy, as soon as I get the date I will let you know. I am so happy, I don't know if I will be able to sleep tonight. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now, I have been going backwards for so long! So glad I now have a one story house to come home to this time after surgery!!

Great, have they started your pool yet? That will be pure heaven , a one-story house and a pool out the back door. Hope you get some rest tonight
