Revision TKR Never give up, keep trying, don't settle - that's me, Bonnie

Well I have been to the problem solver Physical Therapy 5 times in the past two weeks, will go again tomorrow. When they first measured me I was at 98 degrees ROM. I can get to 112 by myself with pain, then they push on me even more to get to 115 and it brings me to tears, takes my breath away and I break out in a sweat. I leave with a very sore knee...I am very discouraged. They say it is all scar tissue causing problems, but OS wanted me to do this 3x a week for 4 weeks. After two weeks, I just can't see that much will change. I found a doctor that I will try to get into ASAP, here in Houston. Dr. David Lintner. I was referred to him by a customer I had at the store who had almost identical problems as me. After not getting results or merely dismissed by other doctors, Dr. Lintner actually scoped a LOT of scar tissue from her TKR knee. She is doing great and can almost bend her knee like an acrobat!! I know I may not get the same results, but anything better than what I have now would be wonderful. I've done all the online paper work, just need to talk to a real person now at that office to set up an appointment...since it is the 4th of July, more than likely they will not be back till Monday :-(

Happy 4th everyone!

Good to hear from you, Bonnie. So sorry that you're still having issues with flexion. Hopefully this new doc can resolve the problem for you at last. Hope both you and Dave are doing well otherwise. Are you enjoying your new house? Do you have a pool yet? Know you're busy with life, but try not to be such a stranger. We miss you.

Take care and keep us updated. You know we really do care.

Bonnie, Sorry this PT is not working out so well although it does sound as though you've made some progress. I had a huge hemotoma break loose on my leg last week. It turnd purple and has been going through all the stages of bruising, in addition to beeing very painful. IMO it was scartissue which broke loose on it's own. Enjoy your 4th and take care. Hopefull this new dr. will have some answers for you.

Hugs, Dorothy

Hi Janet, I try not to be a stranger, but I don't think that anyone reads my thread any more. I just get to thinking...who cares, I am just talking to myself, although I can always count on you to give me a cheery upbeat positive reply. My appointment with the new specialist is set for July 23 and it can't come soon enough for me! I am so tired of this...it just goes on and on and on.

As for the pool...No pool yet but we did have someone out on Monday of last week. They are drawing up plans and estimate that they will present back to us this coming Monday. He says it takes about 30 days for the pool to be ready. It took a lot longer when we had our first one built 20 years ago, but I guess like all things new technology is out there that speeds things up. We'll see what he has to say on Monday.

How are you doing today Dorothy? That is good that your had scar tissue break up even if it did bruise you. I'd love for my scar tissue to break apart!!

Are you getting all packed up? We'll leave for Florida on Friday where my daughter gets married in Destin. I love being at home in my new house and almost hate to leave so soon, but it will be a happy occasion and a nice change of pace for me. Maybe I won't be thinking too much about my knee for a change!

Take care and hugs back! Bonnie

Sounds like you have a lot to look forward to. Best wishes to your daughter, that wedding in Destin sounds great, We,re not packing up just yet. turtle68, just be sure you don't let the physical therapy of unpacking and settling in get too aggressive----PACE YOURSELF.

Have a great trip and enjoy yourself. A few pics would be nice when you get back!!!!

OMG, my knee hurts so much...what is wrong with me? I have gone from doing great to awful. July 23 with my new doc for second opinion can't come soon enough!

I'll be flying for the first time on Friday with my new knee and setting off alarms no doubt. Going to Florida for may daughters wedding!

but I don't think that anyone reads my thread any more
You might be surprised. I for one always read your posts, it's just that I don't really have anything to contribute.

I think it's great that your implant is sound, even though your problems are now baffling. Soundness shows that people can run after TKR.

I always read your posts too, Bonnie! We're still here and we still care. :console2:

Good luck on the trip. I'll be flying out to Chicago this morning, so will let you know how that goes. Enjoy the wedding, and I hope all goes well.

Roy, you are right...running a 1/2 marathon, 10k, 5k and various 3, 4, 5 mile runs it is great to know that my knee is strong and completely sound after all the testing. And...My OS even finally told me I could run some! Only problem is...soft tissue is keeping me from doing much of anything. I tried the elliptical the other day and I have a painful catching under my knee cap, of course peddling a bike now is out of the question, just can't do it. How many people do you know that are actually HOPING to get their knee scoped? Something is going on in there!!!

You are on my follow list. I'm not sure if it is a list as you are the only one on it. :) I want to add that I read your story to my family and we were all moved.

Thank you patbike. I just sometimes I just feel like I am old news after two years, but some of the TKR's on here are forever changing. If you read my story then you know about Molly, so thought you might like to know that I have a little silver dog bowl necklace with Molly's name engraved on it. I put it on and take her with me every day no matter what I am doing, she is always with me. How are you doing now since your TKR on May 7th?

Yes we read about Molly, your husbands illness and the Dr that said he was going to get you running again. We are rooting for you.

Hi Bonnie,

I always read your posts as well. I know I have felt the same way when I post wondering if my friends are with me, and hoping they are out there in cyberspace! Keep your spirits up and know that the 23rd will come quickly.

Be well,

Dawn

Dhare63 and RunA42K, I always love seeing posts from old friends and finding out what's going on with all of you. And I love it when you give great support and info to newer members. Your experience and compassion is always welcome.

Well I am waiting at the airport for the trip to Florida and no alarms with my knee because I stood in that big glass cylinder. It felt like I should be saying "Beam me up Scotty!" I am assuming that everyone watched Star Trek at one time or another!

Thanks friends for the kind words. I am just waiting for July 23 to see this new specialist!

I hope your trip to Florida goes well, Bonnie.

By the time you get home again, it will be almost time to see that specialist!

Best wishes!

The wedding was wonderful, everything was just perfect. We all had such a good time. Lots of smiles and laughter and yes, I even danced. You know I had to show them how to do Gangham Style dance! The mother of the groom said, " and she says she has knee problems." Well I don't need to bend my knee too much to dance. The next day though my knee was more sore than usual.

So I had not been to my PT since July 3rd because of the wedding and preparation to go out of town. I went back today to find I had lost ground. No surprise to me, I already knew it, but was confirmed when they measured a ROM of 103 on me. They proceeded to manually push on me after massaging soft tissue. The painful pushing that takes my breath away got me to a whopping 105, just two degrees I gained. Now my knee is really sore tonight, so I've got my compression sleeve on. Can't wait for my new doctor appointment one week from today.
