Thank you so much for those photos of you and Sonja, Bonnie!
They made me cry.

Sonja was such a lovely person and far too young to die.
I'll never forget her kindness to me, back in 2013, when I was just a newbie on BoneSmart. I was upset about something and she sent me such a supportive PM.

Bonnie, your story is inspiring. I have a ski instructor who needs to read it, I hope it helps her not to give up. after Bob,s death, I have moved to Minnesota and am facing limited skiing and wondering what passion will take its place? Maybe ice skating or cross country skiing. I am still going to work as an instructor and look forward to skiing with my three year old grandson!

Kelly @skigirl i had no idea that you moved. Bob, was he your husband? Remember how sick my husband was in 2012 and 2016? I am very worried about him again...

But yes, I never give up! I’m flying to
Portland, Oregon on Wednesday and a week from today, next Sunday I’ll be fast walking the Portland Marathon 26.2 Miles. First full marathon on my three knee replacements the first since 2010. I’ll probably not opt to do 26.2 miles again and stick to 1/2 marathons ... I just always wanted to quit on my own terms. After next Sunday I can do that! It will be my 25th marathon, I’d say a good number to finish with!

Yes, you are right, aging gracefully is accepting limits and finding worth and fun in what is there for you! I no longer ski with abandon, but I ski with great happiness.

Yes, Bob was my husband, he struggled all of his life with heart disease
But, he was a warrior, he did what he could do Outdoors with passion and pleasure. His last "hikes" were around the yard with his walker, but he went every day.

I moved to Minnesotato be near my grandkids"

I wanted you to know how happy I am that I finally was able to complete my 25th marathon 26.2 miles yesterday in Portland, Oregon! After 6 knee surgeries, (3 total knees) a 7 year absence from marathoning!

I just learned that Sonja @RestAssured just passed away on Wednesday Sept 27. Did you all know? @Jamie @Josephine Her funeral will be Tuesday October 3rd. You can read her obituary on her FaceBook page - Sonja Brekke England. So very sad, such a loss.
I had not been on Bonesmart for quite some time. I logged on earlier today and looked for some old friendly names. I saw Sonja had not posted since 2017. I sort of had a bad feeling and eventually found this. Sorry for the delay, but Rest In Peace @RestAssured.

Thanks Bonnie for sharing the sad news about Sonja. She really was a fighter so sorry to hear.
Also, I see you have had many surgery’s but are pain free. I have had three replacements on my right and have pain when on my feet more than hour or sometimes less. My surgeon says it is scar tissue from the surgeries but in your case to do a marathon it must not affect you. I bike, swim and workout in the gym to stay fit but that does not help the pain. I will be going to the Mayo Clinic this month to see a specialist hope he can help me get to where you are. Congratulations on your Marathon!

Bonnie, good for you!! That is a real achievement and if you are going to do 1/2 marathons, that is not the end by any means. I am so impressed that you kept on going until you found someone who could help you. That took faith and pluck.

I am sorry about your husband---worry was my daily state for awhile. I just saw a pulmonologist today (I have asthma) and she told me that my immune system is probably suppressed after so much stress. She was very nice about it, but I had not really thought that one through.
