BarbieJ when I had my surgies I broke out in a horrible and each surgiey the rash got worse. More of my body got rashed and the sicker i got. The last surgie it was decided it was something they use in surgry and that is just going to be. Afterwords the doctor would have medicane ready to treat it. I was so glad to get it treated I didn't search much for the answer. They had to use whatever I was allergic to and then had to teach the rash. The rash really hurt but after a while it went away. I do hope they decover the cause so it can be treated. Don't give up. Keep going back and it will get solved. I do know it must be very scary but please don't let it overwhelmed you. That could make it worse. I know this is the hard part. Keep looking you will find the answer. We are here to give you the surport and to listen to you. Please do keep us informed. We love you. take care. Tashia

Poppet, can you help with my gut?
Anything else I can do?

Oh Barbie honey, I wish I could, but sadly until we get a definitive diagnosis, it is difficult to make any suggestion, except keep to a balanced diet which I know you are already doing.

I so, want to read a post from you indicating that the medicos have a diagnosis.

Hang in there honey, the real Barbie is still there, just a little bruised and battered... You are in my thoughts xx

special lady[/USER], you are right. Lab report of aspiration said that they injected iodinated contrast to mark correct intra articular location.

BarbieJ ...when I was talking to the radiologist while he was injecting mine there was two new residents they were asking as many questions about it as I was, he explained a case years ago in which the patient filed a lawsuit against them stating whatever the injection was caused injury due to the wrong placement so they do it for liability reasons, in his word it's their signature. I didn't know it was a iodine substance though. Have you ever had a reaction to iodine in the past?

Josephine ....I'm not saying it is a rash :) my comment "It's amazing how we can simply develop an allergy out of no where" was in response to Barbie saying just add another allergy to her list. Like I said in previous post, it makes sense that it could be from the prep used. I never implied it has anything to do with a anaphylaxis reaction, which is totally different then a rash of any kind or cause. My concern is the burning pain she's had deep inside since the injection which is why I question if it could be caused by the dye, or cortisone. I totally agree it appears there's two separate problems going on.

Don't recall ever having iodinated substances. Also, I have never had a problem in the past with cortisone or lidocaine, etc.
I got weepy before the procedure worrying about infection. Wanted relief so bad, I was willing to take on the risk, especially since no one has offered any other treatment or diagnosis.

Trying to describe pain is difficult. It's not surface pain anymore but. Just deep down burning and sharp pain. Allin the area of my groin, private area, buttocks, thigh and lower spine. Like an intense sharp burn deep in my body that often there but not always. Bad if I sit. i can walk okay but not for very long before it starts and I can achieve sleep with an ice pack. Infection is, however my worry.

Barbie, did you get yourself some Anthisan as I suggested? It will give you some relief.
And you must tell your surgeon what I said about it being the skin prep.

Barbie,

I read your entire thread and feel so bad for you, as it appears you have only had good days here and there since your THR. Thinking of you, and hope you get some relief soon....((((hugs)))))

My daughter just left after visiting me this weekend. She gave me my Mother's Day gift. She gave me a table top easel, a canvas and new paints. I thanked her but secretly felt blue because she has no idea how badly I am doing. I don't let on, other than the obvious with me walking with a cane and moving very slowly and taking lots if naps. I have an ice pack with me always.

I hope one day I can use her gift.

So my friends, you are my life raft. Right now I am holding on for dear life. With deepest gratitude to all here who are now my friends.

Don't ever hesitate to post anything that is bothering you.

I know what it like to feel low and thinking about giving up. One things I learned is that its just a thought and that keep moving forward is the right thing to do. You can take a rest but do keep going. We are here praying and cheering from the sides for you to make it. You can do it. If I can make it so can you. Here are some hugs for you. :friends: :console2: :console2: :console2: :console2: :console2:  Tashia

Barbie

So many here on Bonesmart care, and keeping you in their thoughts and prayers. You've expressed how much you miss the Barbie before all the pain, you are still deep inside the same person, that same happy woman. Pain can certainly keep you from feeling much of anything other then pain, but don't lose your spirit.

Barbie,

I know things are tough and painful for you right now. I read through your thread and you have had a long road! Wanting to get back to a life of quality instead of quantity is the goal of all of us! Please don't give up! We care about you! :friends:

Dearest Barb, you have a circle of friends in your corner batting for you spread right around the world. You will get a solution, we all believe that. There are better days ahead, the body is an incredible miracle machine and soon your immune system will kick in and start protecting and healing you... I truly believe this.

There are so many different symptoms happening that at the moment it is hard to see the wood for the trees..

but you will, we will help you xx

Just had to pop by and say a quick good morning to you from the other side of the world.. Take care, you will be in my thoughts today, hugs from down under.

UPDATE
First thing this morning I called Mayo and left a message for my OS explaining what all of you already have been hearing about. He was in surgery but then an hour ago I received a message that he would like to see me first thing tomorrow morning. So I am packing for the long drive. I am on day 9 of my 10 days on antibiotics and I would rather make the effort to go up there now rather than have someone say later, " you should have gone back to Mayo."
Today, for the first time in 5 months I don't feel like I have the flu and I have not had bad pain. My guess is that after my last antibiotic the pain will all start to return. I am saying this because I felt really good in November after the last time I had a full course of antibiotics.

I am not a rocket scientist but I can connect the dots here. But for now, until I get some answers, I am grateful for a good day. I will take what I can get. I suspect that I won't have clear answers for a while. Jo mentioned once to me that it takes 4 months for antibiotics to not muddy up the picture in blood work and make false negatives.
Anyway, I will be offline again for a day or two. My husband and I do not have smart phones. Hysterical really, since my husband is a technology administrator. He has two sides. One side is extremely technical, logical, etc., and the other side is a desire to throw all technology away and live simply and sustainable. He said about his job once, you cannot sit back and look at the fruits of your labor like you can if you are an architect and builder like my brother in law.
Thank you for all of your words of encouragement. I am not anticipating any revelations tomorrow morning. I would just rather be safe than sorry.

@BarbieJ

I am so pleased your heading to the Mayo. Hoping they order every test possible so you get some answers, and they can offer a solution....looking forward to your Mayo update. Be safe, and post whenever you can.
