Re: This is my story

Just wanted you to know that I'm thinking of you and that you have been in my prayers. I hope all goes well with your appts over the next week. I hope you get a sympathetic ear by someone who can do something about all of this. Stay positive :thumb:

(and the pie looks yummy!)

Re: This is my story

Thanks Donna. Had "8' vials of blood drawn today for the Infectious Disease doc. Got the write off from my NP for the BP as until I am free of pain, it's kind of a losing battle. See the Rheumatolgist tomorrow about lowering the Prednisone and Monday is the BIG DAY with the original OS!

Already talked with the NP today about feeling that something in there is broken from my fall. I am actually starting to lose the use of that leg, to say nothing about all the pain I have been in since September...

I was scared to death of going thru another revison, but I have to say, it can't come soon enough now...

Re: This is my story

Janet, just want you to know I have been watching your thread and thinking about you. Fingers crossed for some good results in the next few days. You deserve a break! :friends:

Re: This is my story

I saw the Rheumatologist yesterday and he cut back the Predisone from 3, 10mg pills a day to 2 a day for a week and to see how the inflammation stays at bay. He thinks I have been having some sort of a "reactive arthritis" from whatever the bite/infection was this summer.

He also started me on the bone strengthening drug Boniva, a once a month $44 pill for bone strength (aka Sally Field!). He felt because of taking the Prednisone it was a good idea. I agree.

So, we are moving forward gradually cuting down the prednisone but he can't promise I will be able to come off it without having the inflammation starting up again. One day at a time I guess.

I don't mind cutting back though as the sweats/hot flashes have been almost unbearable in the evening, as well as my appetite! To say nothing of my big ol' "moon face". Tough trade off but having no debilitating knee pain is priceless.

Now to get the thigh/femur pain under control...original OS on Monday!

Re: This is my story

Very best wishes for Monday Janet. :thumb:

And you have a pm....

Re: This is my story

Well I guess at least you are moving in the right direction now Janet. Big time fingers crossed for Monday. We are all sending positive vibes from around the world!

Re: This is my story

Whatever lies ahead Jaycey, I am now ready. I couldn't say that until now, but pain (and not being able to walk much at all anymore) is a great motivator. Everyone is going forward and I've been going backwards, especially since my fall in September. It's time.

Wow Janet

I decided to start at the beginning of your thread, I only got to #7 and thought how are you even surviving - you are one very tough lady and I have so much admiration and respect for you.

I just hope and pray that all of our collective prayers for you will be answered soon.

Re: This is my story

Hi there Janet,

Just stopping in to say "Hello" and hope your getting along alright. I know you must be a little bit nervous about speaking to the OS Monday, but stick to your plans... Only you really know what's right and how your body is feeling (hip).... so don't let him shove your concerns under a rug, let him know you want him to hear every single thing going on with it from start to present. That you can not live a functioning life with the type of pain it's been causing you since your fall.

I feel your ready for this appointment with him, and that you will make sure your concern is heard, and that you want answers.

My best to you and I'll be keeping you in my prayers.

Re: This is my story

I am typing out a lengthy synopsis of EVERYTHING that has happened since my THR 3/19/10, including the fact the HE fractured and missed it, left me writhing in pain in rebab for 2 1/2 weeks with it (the pain level should have been enough to make him realize it, even if the x-ray didn't show it and then blamed the shove for the bed pan placement for causing it) and at one point asked me if I thought he did anything wrong.

He also said at another point that we may have to check with a more experienced OS. This was all AFTER all the damage was done. I think that gave me the right to go elsewhere and to request what I am going to.

I am approching this very tactfully though, because his colleague is the one who is THE best revision specialist there and I am requesting his help in acquiring him for the revision. He owes me that much.

That is all I want..no lawsuit, no finger pointing (except where necessary) just to be fixed! The original OS also tried to correct my being toed in and by doing so threw off all the engineering in my body. It has taken me this long to figure out what is wrong, why I can't climb stairs or clip my toenails.

Since everything looks "fine" on film, no other OS can see the problem and has not offered to fix it. I need to make both of these guys aware of everything so there is a concerted effort here, one to admit what he did, the other to undo the damage.

I don't know what hospital policy is, but this has to be the outcome. I plan on getting what I want. I can not settle for any less after suffering for so long. I am not asking for the impossibe, perhaps just someone eating a little crow as he was a new OS.

In any event, it needs to be addressed, either Monday or in the CEO's office at a later date. I just want to go away healed and happy, not trying to make a bigger deal out of this than it has been to just me.

I understand things happen, bad luck, what ever. But, now I am pretty much living in a recliner, far worse off than before the THR. This is not right and someone is accountable. God knows I have gone full circle with this and I've ended back at the beginning.

I don't think I am being unreasonable and I don't see why there is going to be a problem with getting what I want as long as I approach this properly.

But, please do keep those fingers and toes crossed :wink1:...

Re: This is my story

Janet dear, that is truly a very moving and powerful statement you have written and those guys had better sort you out properly this time. They are supposed to be the healers and must not on any account be dismissive of all you have been through. I will have everything possible crossed for you for Monday and pray you wil be back here as soon as possible posting good news.
Much love
Anne xxxxxx

Re: This is my story

Janet Seconding all the good wishes. Absolutely, you get them to sign off on your plan. It seems you have nailed down both the causal event and its rectification. All hands on deck! :yes 4:

Re: This is my story

Yes Janet

All of us Bone Smarties will be with you in spirit and virtually with you on Monday at your appointment. How can they win against the collective power of so many of us with you and behind you asking for justice and to get this fixed.

Stay strong and resolute lovely lady :)
