Re: This is my story

Hi Janet how are things with you these days? Just popped in for a catch up and hope that you're still finding an improvement with the pain levels.

Re: This is my story

Well Hello Anne! Thanks for asking. I've been sort of keeping a low profile these days until I see the docs again in December. The pain levels from the unexplained inflammation is under control for the time being as I am taking Prednisone 10mg, three times a day.

It is working very well, the only complaint being terrible hot flashes/sweats. I see the Rheumatologist on Dec.1st to see how to proceed. I also see the original OS on Dec. 5th and have a plan there. I am certain I will be having a revision after that. Nothing has changed with the status of my thigh/femur pain since summer. It is pretty bad.

I would not be able to get thru the day without percocet a few times a day.

All in all, I am just taking things one day at a time until I see what the OS has in mind. But we are having a long talk about it.

That's about it for me. How are you doing these days?

Re: This is my story

Love the Avatar Janet. Yum yum !!

Wishing you a very Happy Thanksgiving and that you feel well. Take care of yourself and have a wonderful time with your family.

Re: This is my story

Thanks Julie, you too! Yesterday was a "baking" day. Apple and squash pies, as well as my signature Hershey's Chocolate Cake.

***Everyone should check out the "NEW" Recipe thread on the Social side. It is loaded with fantastic recipes for the holidays and everyday.

Jamie and others put a lot of time and effort into the combination of three separate recipe threads to make a wonderful "Cyber" cook book.

Please keep 'em comin' folks :wink1:! Thanks Jamie :thumb:!

Re: This is my story

HI Janet, sending you lots of thanks for all your support - you really are a tower of strength for all us hippies and you make me feel so lucky about my own recovery, good wishes for your own recovery and lots of hugs :friends:

Re: This is my story

Hi Janet and Happy Thanksgiving to you and everyone there in the US for tomorrow. How cruel to be wafting your Hershey's Chocolate Cake around when I am so far away!! I'm really glad to hear you're getting some relief with your meds but will be very glad when a more definite plan of action kicks in for you -not half as glad as you'll be of course! I'll look forward to your next update.
I'm doing pretty well thanks Janet - thought I'd see a physio as I haven't since my op (my hospital doesn't advise it) and wanted to check I was walking properly etc. - apparently I have a limp and my leg isn't as strong as it should be so she's got me working on that. I'm glad I went as I thought I was walking ok! I count my blessings though and pray all will work out well for you soon.
Enjoy the holiday:yay:

Re: This is my story

Hi Janet,
Just popping in to see how things are going and now I'm feeling hungry, lol!
Still thinking of you, but your thread isnt always that easy to find as you are taking it easy on posting to it (understandable though).
If I miss your thread again before your December appointment, all the very best and I SO hope they sort things out for you this time and listen to what YOU want.
Take care :friends:

Suzie

Re: This is my story

Thanks Suzie. Yes, there was no point to keep complaining until I know a bit more. I see the Rheumatolgist Thursday 12/1, and see if I come off the prednisone. Saw an Infectious Disease doc yesterday and don't know any more now than I did then.

Monday I see the original OS. I am sure this needs to be revised again. I have been in a lot more and different pain since my fall. Something definately got damaged.

However, once I accepted the fact, I am a lot more comfy with it. I couldn't bare the thought of going thru this again months back, but now I feel there is no choice. If it wasn't loose before, I think it is now...

In any event, i am now ready for whatever lies ahead. I do have a plan in place for Monday, so fingers crossed I accomplish what I set out to do.

Thanks for thinking of me Suzie...

Re: This is my story

Hi Janet

Thinking of you my wee buddy, your December appointments are just around the corner.
Have to agree that pie of yours looks like it could do with some thick cream like loads of it :wink1:
A nice wee parcel first class to me with a wee bit would do nicely.

Re: This is my story

Was trying to send a few pics of all the desserts that I made but for some reason I am having a problem downloading. Having a problem changing my Avatar too.

Anyone else? I did get a new camera, so it is probably me...

Re: This is my story

Hi Janet

All the best for your 2 appointments. You sound very positive now. That's good.

I also have an appointment for a second opinion about my on-again/off-again infection. This was organised by my consultant, and will be at Wrightington Hospital, which has an excellent reputation in the UK. That's on Dec 6.

I have to laugh at how naive I was when I first had my accident. Can you believe I actually thought "Well, I've had an accident, and I've had an operation, and now I'll get better".

What a sucker I was! Life has a lot more little tricks up its sleeve.

Hang in there.

Re: This is my story

Been trying everything Jo. Never had this problem. Can't find where that option to change the size is. However, I don't see anything telling me the file is too big either.

Please don't waste time on this for me. I was just wondering if anyone else was having a problem. I had no problem when I changed it last week, and I know how to download the pics.

It's just not happening and may have something to do with my new camera...

Thanks...

Re: This is my story

Glynis, I thought just the same as you! Never in a million years did I think one could have a problem after going thru a surgery done at a Joint Replacement Hospital!

I purposely chose this one because of the reputation. The worse part of this is that there is only a 1% fracture rate at this hospital and HELLO! All the more reason I am afraid to go thru it again.

But, now that I've learned so much here on BoneSmart, things WILL be different this time. But, I shouldn't be going thru this again...

Re: This is my story

Everything crossed for you Janet. I guess all the pie has been eaten........:cry4:
