Well, because I've been driving myself and all of you here on BoneSmart crazy with my frantics, I was able to move my appointment with the OS to next Monday the third of October.

I need some reassurance from him that I indeed haven't done any harm and to pick his brain about my knees all of a sudden acting up and being so painful and unstable.

I keep telling myself everything is ok, but deep insside I am still sick about the fall. I always say when in doubt ask the doctor, and I was lucky to find a cancellaton. Then I will be able to breath again...

If it weren't the way my luck has gone Jaycey, I wouldn't be so worried, but I haven't felt completely comfortable with this THR from the beginning.

There has seemed to be something just not right from the start. Who knows, maybe this was a blessing in disguise...we shall see...

Hello Janet

I'm sorry to hear that you are still having discomfort, and also a problem with your knees. I hope something positive will come of your appt in October.

As for me, I saw the consultant yesterday, and my infection appears to be under control at present (I have been off antibiotics for 2 weeks). There is no current suggestion of surgery being on the immediate horizon: though he did make it clear that the infection could flare up again at any time.

In fact, he told me of a patient who has been having periodic infections caused by an injury first sustained in World War II. Talk about giving the good news with one hand...!

Well, one thing's for sure... if my infection hasn't cleared up after 60-odd years it is fairly likely that I will have cleared off.

Anyway, I am taking advantage of a lull in the on-going drama, and going on holiday for 2 weeks, starting Saturday. I'll check in on return and hope you have better news to report.

Thanks all. The appointment is next Monday the third of October though, not today...I wish it was today just to have it over and done with. Thanks for all your concern and good wishes.

Janet just wanted to stop by and wish you the best of luck with your Monday appointment. It's the same day I'm going in for the 5th and FINAL surgery on this problem hip of mine... So I'll check in when I can to see if you've posted an update. Hoping for answers for you!
