Re: This is my story

Janet,

I'm praying you get some answers. My husband has an autoimmune disease called Behcet's Syndrome. He presented with so many strange and seemingly unrelated symptoms over many months. We couldn't get any answers, and we really thought he was going to die. He was so sick. We kept getting sent to different specialists before we finally saw a rheumatologist who immediately diagnosed him.

It took 18 months from the start of his symptoms until we got an answer. He started out on fairly high doses of prednisone (along with another drug called colchicine), but was able to taper down to only 2 mg prednisone a day. This combination works well for him, and he feels good and leads a very active life. I hope that once they figure out what is going on with you, they can get you on a good treatment plan and you will be able to do everything you want to do.

Re: This is my story

God bless you, Janet. And grant you answers and healing.

Re: This is my story

For crying out loud I wish they would get a move on as you don't sound good at all, really feel you need to be in hospital Janet. I know that's not what you want to hear but you sound very weak.
Please take care. :console:

Re: This is my story

Janet I just got caught up with this. Sending you tons of good wishes. I know you are going through hell right now waiting and worrying and feeling so sick. But you have been so inspiring for all of us. I have a feeling you will get some answers and help soon!! I know it!:cat-kittyandsmiley:

Re: This is my story

Janet, I am so sorry to hear what you are going through. You are always so quick to cheer people on and I really admire that. It is hard enough to suffer but when you do not know what you are dealing with it is harder. I just want you to know I am sending waves and waves of prayers your way and hope you have answers and feel better soon.

Re: This is my story

Well, one more day until I see the Rheumatologist. I honestly don't care what he has to say.... just tell me what is th cause and then let's deal with it and fix it! Constant pain is terrible!

I dread going to bed at night. Can not find a comfortable position to sleep in as everthing hurts. And of course the thigh/femur problem makes it even harder to roll over.

I have a wedge that I have been reclining against, but the need to do anything but lie in one position all night keeps me awake. Can't curl up on either side because of the swelling in my knees.

So, let's hope tomorrow brings some answers. I can't imagine what other labs need to be run, but I'm sure there will be more. For crying out loud, I am still bruised from the last draw!

To be continued...:skeptical:

Re: This is my story

Oh Janet! Haven't posted because to be honest, I hardly know what to say.
But you know I'm thinking of and praying for you.

Re: This is my story

I do know that Jo. I just don't know what to think either. There has been so much going on, but all together, it could mean something serious.

Or, I've got a grand case of hypochondria !

Re: This is my story

Janet - I just want you to know you have been in my thoughts. We are here for you - I am sure you know that. But just a reminder :wink1:. Hang in there Janet. Fingers cross you get some answers soon.

Re: This is my story

As Jaycey says, hang on in there Janet.
All the very, very best for Thursday.
And I hope that even if they are still in the process of looking for answers, they give you something to help with the pain.
And that it works.

Re: This is my story

Thursday can't come quick enough as far as I am concerned and if they haven't got an answer by tomorrow I feel they need to keep you in to run more tests and stop all this faffing about sending you back and forward.
You can pass on that if they don't get this sorted out a big burly SCOTSMAN will be across to sort them out.

Re: This is my story

Hello Janet.
I am very new at posting and was feeling that I haven't yet earned (?) the right to wish any one well but I have been reading BS for a month or so and became familiar with you and your kind responses to others facing tough times. So I do want to add my thoughts of encouragement to all your other friends . I am wishing you only the best as you work toward finding answers and I hope you find some relief from pain as you travel that path, bob

Re: This is my story

times 2. I'll be right behind Billy :snork:

Seriously, hope you hear some good news today.

......and a fairly skinny Englishman!!

I think you really deserve better from the medical professionals.

Really hope you soon get some relief

Best wishes

Dave

Re: This is my story

I sit here weeping like a baby. I can't begin to tell you what your words and kindness mean to me. Although I am fairly petrified of going to this appointment this afternoon, it can't come soon enough...

I'll report back with anything I get for answers this afternoon.

BTW, one thing that again amazes me. A while back or in a different thread, I was singing the praises of Glucosamine and Chondroitin (in my case Osteo Biflex).

I can't begin to tell you how painful my knees are at this point, and I firmly believe it is because my GP had me stop all supplements a few weeks ago. The G&C never had any effect on my hip but it amazes me how it works on my knees. Just an FYI if anyone wants to see if it may help them...

Re: This is my story

Hi again. I'm back from the Rhuematologist. He won't have the results of my labs until tomorrow or Monday, but can't understand why my "ESR" is 55 when the norm is between 0-30, and my NP was telling me everthing is "normal"!

ESR shows inflammation and my red counts are all mixed up as well. So, something is definately going on, he just doesn't know what...yet.

Goes to show that you should always see the actual physician when there is any question of illness. My NP is great for everday things, but I'll always wait for the GP after this...

Unfortunately the GP was on vacation for two weeks when this latest was going on...

Re: This is my story

Waiting is the new motto for you Janet, right? So sorry. My ESR was 48 last month. I am so feeling for your misery my dear. Keep us updated, ok? :prayer1:
