Hi @Mitzi It was so good that you found Kato and wonderful that you gave him such a good home. They need love and someone to care for them just like we do they give such unconditional love and give so much. I love walking in our park seeing so many beautiful trees and the water is lovely. Good that your fluffly babies get along so well nice company for them to have each other to. Nice that you are going to your gym and hoping this helps. Just take it slow and easy nice to get out to.

Probably good you are not taking that medication if having stomach upset not good to have something that is supposed to make you feel better and then side affects that do other stuff. I am looking forward to the bulbs coming up love our crocus and hyacinths still snow there but it won't be long now. Sorry you are having pain from your Fibro not much fun to have that pain . All the best to you Holly

Hi Lavendar, how are you these days? Started to drive last Mon by moving car to a different space due to thick ice & have been driving since. Getting in the car is easy...getting out I have to turn in sit & scoot back & then step out. Got to doc appts. Stopped PT. I go to a gym I was in & work one on one with a trainer. Very gentle & few exercises. Three days a wk like PT. Do 5min on elliptical. I started here at home first. Not everyday.

How are you & your weather? Ours is cold & windy. A storm coming of snow & sleet. My body started flaring up & today very painful. Does it when barometric pressure gets worse as storm comes. My poor Pumpkin has neck shoulder swelling. Been to vet two times. She gave inflammatory & muscle relaxer. Praying nothing worse.

Wait to hear from you.

Mitzi

Hi @Mitzi Hi and happy to hear from you how great you are driving again knowing how nice I felt driving again to. Good to have a little of the things you enjoy back an with driving you can come and go when ready not waiting for someone to take you places. I think it is great your pt is over an good you are having gentle treatment with your trainer gentle is the best taking it slow a little at a time keeps knees happy. I did the same thing when getting into our car with my right leg and with left leg push back into seat and then step out to.

I have found my knee a little bit sore this week no where near the pain after surgery just achy might be the extra movement went from being in our house to going for walks so my knee is getting more exercise walk with walker in the park as to much at this time without and with it can go a little further. I went walking again today with my husband in our park so much snow has melted and walked taking breaks along the way sitting on the benches so my knees seem happier tonight not sore so this was a better way to do it.

Our weather has been much milder over the past week and up into the plus temperatures most of last week up to plus 8 one day so it was beautiful and nice and sunny with the sun much warmer on face felt nice walking in the sun. I hope your Pumpkin feels better so hard when they are not feeling well wanting to do what ever you can to help them hard to see them sick. Hoping that the relaxers help and no more visits to vet wishing the best for this. Today was a little cooler minus 6 and then up to minus 1 so hoping tomorrow is warmer or even just sunny the sun helps make you feel better. Hope you are not having pain with the change in the barometric pressure and the cold now .

We have not had snow for a couple of weeks but never know what to expect the weather this time of the year can be so unpredictable. Good to hear from you happy you are doing so well with driving and your training seems like it will work nice for you wishing you the best with it. Hope your Pumpkin feels better and the swelling will go away hoping your weather warms up and you have some days with sun probably Pumpkin is waiting to the spring weather and warmer temperatures to the cold is hard on them to.

Planning on a walk to the park tomorrow pacing myself a little better my husband keeps a good eye on me and makes sure that I am alright but starting to walk along the brick pathway just want to keep walking and take in the fresh air and sun meet people along our way pat their little and bigger dogs visit with our friends the geese and ducks and seagulls and then might go too far not really far but just love being there.

I wish you a wonderful sleep tonight and hope your day tomorrow is great wishing Pumpkins shoulder feels better and your pain goes away. I have my appointments over for now had doctors appointment last week now going to surgeon in April for checkup but so nice to have less appointments seems sometimes my husband and I are always going to some kind of medical appointment but for me no more till April nice to see. My doctor has stopped me with Celebrex this might also be why my knees are sore but trying it as side affects are not good for other medical stuff so think he is doing it for the best for me not happy at first but know he is taking care of me.

All the best for you and you are doing great driving and doing your training stuff how great you are doing and with spring things will get even better hoping so looking forward to no more winter coat, wearing shorts and no heavy clothes and feeling the warm air and sun again not fond of the extreme heat but love the feeling of being nice and comfy wishing you the best.:friends::):) Holly

@lavender Hi, we have snow! Lots. Shoveled some & a neighbor snow plowed us:). Had an upset day worrying about my dog ...later gave it to The Lord. Refocused. Wanting to wait out the possible idea of the swelling idea & not fear worse. My husband in Buffalo today. Be here in morning. My arthritis is bothering my left thumb. Put pain cream on. It does help. Tylenol too. We are going to Maryland Easter Day to eat with my son his wife & our 2 Grandgirls. Then bringing them home here till Tues evening. Been awhile. Another is being born soon today. Got a call earlier today. A boy. My husband's oldest son. Has a call from a girlfriend from high school yesterday. She has had two knee replacements and a shoulder done that had a fragmented piece of bone cutting her tendon. Serious surgery. Well here she got her shoe caught after stepping off last run on ladder. The shoe pulled off & she fell on her knees & then the worse I heard...she landed on the point of a shovel attached to a snow plow! It went into her sternum bone cracking it vertically. Main blood vessels are there and she turned black quickly. She wouldn't go to hospital but waited to see doctor next day. He has X-ray machines. He saw the crack & said she needed a cat scan. She was blessed not to tear open a vessel. Checking her knee she found she needs a new replacement. It was done 9 yrs ago, this fall made it known not make the crack. She is relating with a very sore chest and won't do surgery till months from now. They bought a new house and were getting things done to it before moving in. She's a work horse. She said I'm wondering what God is saying. Same age as me and her husband is retired. She attacks work often. I told her how I feel young in spirit yet am trying to keep in mind I am getting older & some things I gave to let go more & more. Hard reality. Surgeries wake me up. And I do feel it in my body which is ok. That is what I hear I don't like yet need to listen. It is tough to do. Did you get snow? Long ago I was in Canada at St Helen's a Island. Remember how clean & pretty it looked. It was Summer and flowers every where. Also to Thousand Islands. Niaggra Falls. Spelling may be off. Charlie & I were there for our Honeymoon. Do you live near there?

Well off to eat dinner.
Take care

Hi @Mitzi Up early my feet are jumping and feeling tired but cannot sleep. Had a nice day today and sun was shining. How is Pumpkin hope alright has things improved . No snow for a while so far about two weeks since it has snowed and hope it just keeps melting do not want more snow.Where is all the snow coming from this year good that your neighbor plowed your snow out for you and that would save so much shoveling have to be so careful that you take it slow shoveling hope your husband is taking it slow. It will be nice for you to have time with your son and his family for Easter and how wonderful to hear you have a new little grandson congratulation such a special time.

How awful that your friend had such a terrible accident how much she must have felt so scared and the pain would be unbearable how awful. Things like this happen and wonder how or why accident but good that she did not open any blood vessels this is a blessing although sad she went through what she did. She might have been worried what they would say if she went to have it checked at the hospital always expecting the worst as we all do but good she had the doctor check it out . Was her knee damaged before the fall almost like something was trying to tell her but too bad that she had to have the fall.

My brother was the same way the year before their wedding working extra to give his girlfriend the type of wedding she wanted and he had his leg badly damaged to the point that they did not know if he would keep it he was only 23 at the time work accident transformer chest fell from track running along the ceiling at the company he worked for and passing through one night not even his department on his way home the track gave out and down the chest fell crushing some of his leg. He is alright now one leg a little shorter but you would not know the difference he has his shoes for that foot made special.

My husband got hurt at work to maybe 12 years ago worked the night shift together and a ladder that was faulty fell with him on it broken wrist serious break on the bend and not sure they would be able to give him the movement back as to where it was broken he worked so hard to do what he could to keep things alright with lots of physio and now doing alright most bend came back but a little bend in the way it went back together. I am so thankful to his surgeon he was so good with him and cared.

I know what you mean sometimes you feel just do it always could and then find out that it is a little harder then before hard to slow down and understand it do not want to feel like getting older but it happens I do the same and my husband says your job is to sit at this time relax for now your knee looks swollen or sore you have done enough but hard to sit when knowing he is tired to and I am not helping but that is how we do it both take turns and when one is needing to rest the other fills in but seems he is filling in after my surgery all the time. It will get better knee just needs time and then things will feel a little more like they did.

Our bodies tell us when we have done too much even if at the time we did not think we did but bodies say now time to take it a little slower. I live about 2 to three hours away from the Canadian side of Niagara falls. It is a beautiful place very busy with tourists amazing to see the water. Thousand islands I have not been there but the Island you mentioned after looking it up is around Montreal I think I read quite a ways from us. It is funny but so many of us here travel to the States and some overseas but many do not see our own country. Beautiful most of our holidays have been in the Northern part of Ontario where we live. I love going up North beautiful there lots of nice places to go camping and cottages but the cost has really gone up.

Our first year married my husband and I rented a cottage in Parry Sound up along the trans Canada highway unbelievable the cottage was a just a bedroom and little bathroom and lovely warm coleman gas burning stove to heat it. it was log type cabin and sat along a hillside up from the water. That year we had a hurricane never knew till the morning when seeing roofs and boats overturned saw lots of rain but slept through it. This is where we vacationed during the summer for a few years but in different places up that way loved it. The cost of renting cottages now has gone up so much last one we split with my brother and it was over 600.00 for the week and probably 20 years ago highway is so fastpeople drive so fast now so stay home go on day trips instead come home to our own bed and home.

It is nice you will have your husband home must feel so nice for him after driving so much in his truck coming home to you and getting to have time together. I love the time my husband and I have to so many years of working and so rushed now a little more to take time with not so much rushing lots of doctors and medical stuff with the two of us together but better then before trying to fit it all in wondering how we did it during the time within the three years before our jobs we gone after 38 years store closed all of these stores went out we were with my parents many days after working came him in morning tried to help with their things before going to bed always felt so tired but happy we did it as my Dad is no longer with us,

Without this time would not have had the precious moments even if they were to take him to doctors or visit in places he was placed and this would have been our loss happy to have shared the time we did no longer can do it.Sometimes makes you wonder if things are meant to work out a certain way so worried about our long term jobs going and other the other hand this was when the need to see my parents came along even more. Just hard to miss the paycheck started on pensions but what would have happened if jobs stayed and no time to fit it all in although we did fit it in before that but took a toll my husband had just got out of the hospital a month before this serious almost died then all of this but it worked out for getting time to be part of them. He is wonderful always saying you need to help them to and he helped so much . This is when we see we are even stronger then we thought needed to be.

Hope you have a nice weekend take it easy on your knee hope you and your husband enjoy your time. I am sure you will probably like my husband and me. All the best and hoping that Pumpkin is alright to and all the best. Holly

Hi Hollie, wow for some stories you mentioned. What stores did you both work for & what did you each do there?

Taking care of your parents is great! I helped with my husbands Mom. Visits, took her to doctor, helped her with the finances. She had beginnings of Alzheimer's. Charlie & I would meet at her house to eat lunch with her & I would say goodbye to him. She was told not to do certain things that she did to put us on edge. Eventually decided for her to move in with us and the house went for sale. Sold quick. She did for herself pretty much. Then one day I was upstairs & heard a loud boom. Called to her. No answer & got to her perfectly layed out on kitchen with her arm under her. I gently pulled arm out & talked to her. She came around. I said I will see if you can sit up & she tried and vomited into dog bowl nearby. Laid her gently down & called 911 for ambulance. It was a cool Spring morning. Got things to change her wet nite gown. They came in. Said what happened & they put a board under her. Then instead of bringing her up in timely manor straight they slanted the board where I said that's not going to be a good thing....and she vomited again. They covered her & went to a hospital close to us. In emergency the got details & went on for testing then was to lay overnite for observation. I came in & they were letting her go. She looked awful. She was bent over not herself at all:(. I said something and they said the doctor on floor said she was ok to go. They all looked busy and not patient caring. Just move her out. I was upset. A nurse wheeled her to my car. I said to the nurse do you see how she is & she admitted yes. I said well I will go home & give it a try. She was heavy wait. Up stairs to porch, in house/kitchen & up to her room(where we slept but moved us up another floor). I said to her I want to see how you can walk down hall to bathroom first. Could not leave her alone because of what a doctor was to busy to care. She kept leaning into the wall. No way to be on her own. I made her comfortable in a chair with ginger ale & her favorite tv program & went to call the doctor at emergency to tell of her. After saying I said I will have her come back for she is not good at all. Eventually an ambulance came I called & said no sirens please. They came up & said what is wrong with her she looks great! I said wait till she stands up. They saw & on the way they went. Attendants said I could stay home & hospital would call. Yes they did & said he was on call & never saw her. He will check her & call me. He said she was alright & I argued she is not & want another doctor's opinion. Later a woman doctor called with great sensitivity & good study of her to say yes she sees my mother-in-law is not ok. In a room soon. Called my husband & his sister in Florida. Charlie called his brother. After some time while we happened to be at hospital an angel of a doctor walked in & told us his opinion. After all tests that what she had no test would see. It is called concussion syndrome from fall & it no doubt pushed Alzheimer's up. She was to go to rehab which was a joke. She asked to practice & remember how to walk & help herself when Alzheimer's doesn't remember. Then on to a home a case worker helped with close to our home. His sister stayed with us awhile to visit her. She never married & recently came back into the states after many years in Guam as a school teacher.

After home stay a short while my sister-in-law took here to Florida where Florida pays for hospital bed & some care to come in home. Wow! What a blessing. My sister-in-law lived in a over 55yrs old community. Awhile my. Mother-in-law enjoyed some good times there. Then went into last stages awhile and passed away there. She was buried here in PA near her husband. Our home went back to normal as we moved back into our room. It took awhile. I was dealing with body issues of Fibro etc & took my time. Soo much happened in a short time. I needed some down time.

Where did your husband & you work? And they closed down? The stories of your brother-in-law's accident was a WOW! What is a transformer chest? Great how things worked out for his leg. Like you say God had it all worked it out. I believe He's there for us when things happen bad. Even when things do not go well. Also about your husband's wrist. I love how the two of you sound together helping each other. Mine does the best he can to. He is younger and works some years yet. His insurance is great and sees my name go across their desk often wondering what they think. lOL!

Today we took Pumpkin to special dog hospital where she has been before for 3 dic surgery. An X-Ray & an aspiration of the area was done to call it a Lipoma. Begin!! Grows along tissue and doesn't get removed. She will look continually odd somewhat yet she is fine so I hugged him. I was ecstatic !! Poor baby yet no meds are needed now she was on. All well now. My husband thought to she might have something awful. Soo many pooches there today with all kinds of things cancer too:(. She is our Pumpkin and glad she is with me/us.

Feels cold raw here. Suppose to get some rain and Friday slop of rain & sleet. One day at a time!

Blessings to you,
Mitzi

@lavendar
Hi again one & all. Terrible goings on. My right knee is giving me pain. Called for appt. wondering of a baker cysts behind knee. Left replacement gets lame /achey feeling so two knees give trouble. Went for walk & now resting. Anyone have a second knee start soon after surgery on other knee?
Wait to hear.
Mitzi

@kneeper
My right knee hurting behind knee & healing yet from LKR. Anything to share?
Mitzi

@skigirl Hello, in pain again. Right knee behind it is painful. Wondering of another cyst. Called doc. Have you had this experience?
Wait to hear, Mitzi

You may have a Baker's Cyst there---you may have tweaked the hamstring, too, and arthritis is a possiblity, too--I am sorry that I cannot give you more specific advice.

Is the backside of the knee puffy?

It is not uncommon for the non-surgical knee to get a little bit angry, as it has been carrying most of the load during recovery.

I will tag @Josephine and @Jamie to get you the very best advice.

Mitzy, I agree with Tim---is there a bump behind your knee? If so, it could well be a baker's cyst. But my right leg needed to be replaced a year after the left---so, that leg which has been doing more is probably telling you that it wants a new knee too!!

Thanks for reply. Feel overwhelmed to even think on it. Have to family doc tomorrow. Exercise seemed to help yet it came back maybe 4 or more days now. Resting helps. I thought too I have carried the weight of the other leg & is a possibility.

Found to have osteoporosis in upper femur bone connecting to hip socket & in tail of spine near the year before surgery. Trying to add more & more foods with calcium. Any experience some have to share on this subject is welcomed. My young feeling spirit on inside is warring with acceptance of body's aging process. Not given up. Need the younger spirit to keep me going.

Wait to hear others experience
Mitzi

@skigirl ..oh my ...to have a third year in a row for surgery is a bit much not that Zi don't understand the reasoning. A bit anxious. Five months April 17th.

Thanks for your reply!

Mitzi there are drugs which help with and I think, reverse osteoporosis. You need to check with your GP or internist for advice.

Yes I will. Most make stomach sick or muscle weakness. I have acid reflux & have testing coming up for that in May & Fibromalgia which brings muscle problems. Am praying for all this for God's wisdom. I am scheduled or Family near end of month. Thanks again!
Mitzi

It is hard when that full range of arthritis strikes. Good luck with that!! I have family coming on Sat.

Exercise seemed to help yet it came back maybe 4 or more days now. Resting helps.
Please, please don't try to remedy a painful situation with exercise. In my experience, most of these issues are already caused by exercises. You said it there - rest is the remedy!
