Janet - please give Linda our love and best wishes. It's all over now - a new beginning from today!

Hi Janet, best wishes from me too. So glad, she got the new hip, and it's all over and done with now.

You tell her not to let those nurses be stingy with the pain meds! :skeptical:

Oh Jo, I hardly think she would let that happen :th_heehee:...She's a feisty little critter!

She called when I was at my appointment so I am waiting for her to call back. I don't want to call and wake her :secretaea:...

Linda just called back...she's doing AWESOME :yahoo:! She has nothing but good to say about the nursing staff and the OS! They have been so attentive and the OS even ordered higher doses of meds for her that she hasn't needed to be on.

They have given her a Polar Cuff (?) for her thigh ( she said the Kneesies would know what I was talking about :wink1:) and sh gets to take it home with her on Saturday.

Her meds are in pill form now as the IV was stopped this morning. Her only complaint is that she hasn't been able to sleep for more than like 5 minutes as she is just wired, I guess.

I sent all the messages to her and she said "Thank You" to everyone!

Good news all around for my little buddy :friends:! I'm so glad!

Janet....great job in keeping the information flowing!

And....Linda....I'm so happy you were able to get get a "2 for one" special at the hospital. It's soooo good to have BOTH procedures over and done with now.

Bright new life....straight ahead!!!:thumb:

So happy that Linda is doing much better today. She truly has been a great help to me from day one that I got on this site. It's funny how you make new friends that you actually talk to on the phone that you've never met in person just because you are going through same medical conditions.

Janet, thanks for being her friend as well and letting us all know how she is doing !! :friends:

Yeah, it's the "Nana" in me.... But we started this a year ago and still going strong! Sometimes you just click with people and you know you will stay friends forever.

I've made a few life long friends on this forum, just one more thing to thank BoneSmart for!

Thanks for all the updates Janet. I am just thrilled for Linda. It has been a long and hard road for her.

Please send her my best wishes and tell her not to worry about sleep. It will come! It may be the meds or just the excitement of having this done and dusted!

I sure will. I know part of the reason she is feeling good is because everyone listened to her this time and is doing their best to keep her comcomfortable.

That's NOT to say she isn't in pain. She is heavily medicated, but it is keeping her comfortable and that is the difference this time.

Latest update...not a very good day for Linda, I'm afraid. They are releasing her tomorrow on 1/2 the amount of medication that she is on now, and she is all upset. She claims it will never be enough, and she can't reach the OS (?).

They are trying to reach her docs at the pain clinic that she goes to, but she doesn't know if it is too late in the day. Geeze, I hate hearing her so upset. Feeling pretty helpless.

I know it takes an awful lot to keep her comfortable because of her Opiod tolerance, but the best I could offer her was to TRY the amount that they want to send her home on while at the hospital so that they can see for themselves.

I won't have an update until late tonight as I have a wedding to go to at five o'clock. Say a prayer and send ((((( healing vibes))))) her way. I think she's in for a rocky ride .... poor kiddo...

I hope she and her family raise heck with the hospital staff. They CAN get in touch with her surgeon and/or the on-call doctor. He, of all people, should know better than to suddenly cut her meds in half at this early stage...well, or EVER for that matter. You cut back gradually, not like that! Sheesh!!!

Yea!:dancy: Regards to Linda and wishing her all the best! Great news--hoping the pain gets all sorted out.

Unfortunately she called me tonight (still crying ) and I wasn't home yet. Don't know if anything has been resolved. I can understand her being upset though, especially since it will be the weekend!

Geeze, everything seemed to be going along so well for her. Fingers crossed she is sleeping tonight...I know she's been exhausted...pook kid.

Janet there is no reason they can't contact her OS. Are they just being lazy? Surely he must issue the discharge!

Hope she got some resolution last night. Fingers crossed!

OH NO I really didn't want this to have to happen to her I really hope they have sorted things out by the time she comes home,I really don't understand why they would cut the meds by half....
