TKR Knees 1 AND 2 up and running

Eat what you can and be sure to thank hubby profusely for his efforts. Maybe he would freeze any leftovers, so you can have them later?

I remember that, even though I knew I should eat a good diet, all i could face for the first few weeks post op was soup and toast.

I lived on bananas and cup-a-soups for the first couple of weeks, but my hubby made some bone broth and froze it in ice cube trays and I'd have it in the soup to make it more nourishing. When I was at the stage you are at I was still in hospital being sick, so I think you are doing very well really. It's much nicer at home.

I wanted nothing to eat after the TKR. After my infection surgery all I wanted was chocolate covered pretzels.

That's great your pain is under control and your 'old' new knee is handling all the extra work.

Wow, you are a rocking knee star.!!! No pain sounds wonderful. Whatever you are doing, keep it up.

I agree with TML, use your spirometer hourly, use your inhaler and I think you'll be ok. Nice of hubby to cook such a nice dinner, but I remember how I couldn't eat for many weeks.
A little meat with a coke could work?

I only craved banana bread! I think I'll make Diane's recipe for my friend's recovery.

@Floridagal I made banana bread yesterday, I made three, one for us, one for my daughter and one for my son, my grandkids will disown me if I don't share.lol

Shelia, I'm sure is just some kind of nasal discomfort going on. I am so glad you are doing so well!

My husband use to do the same thing, he would go out of his way to make or bring home really yummy dinners, but I could not eat.

For me several days that first week it was protein drinks and lite cran grape juice. Tempting dinners would have been a weary irrelevance, however kindly meant. Well, at least your nice husband will have some good leftovers.

Thinking of you today and hoping your breathing and wheezing is better.

For me, it was also protein drinks and ice cream! I lived on this for about a month. I then added mixed nuts. Unfortunately, I'm eating too good now and putting my weight back on. Bummer!
I am one of those that take steps going down backwards. My OS told me to do this years ago after my second kneecap removal. It is much less painful and if I fall, I fall up instead of down! Now, I'm doing it the right way!

I'm so excited for you that knee #2 is now new & you're doing so good!!! Hope that cough/wheeze goes away quickly! Keeping you in my prayer!

:). Woke up with no wheezing. Came downstairs without a problem (hubby one step in front). Knee much more stable. I was way over medicated this morning (been taking oxy every 4). I fell asleep on the toilet -- thank goodness I was leaning on walker . I've taken 1/2 the dose today and am finally waking up. I think the gabapentin threw me over the edge to zombie land.

Otherwise all is well. Small blister above incision. I think it is a tape or ice blister and NOT an infection or rabies.

Hopefully tomorrow I will be awake, alert and oriented and can check on y'all. Prayers for comfort and rest being said for all.

I am glad you are feeling better and no more wheezing. I am sorry, but I had to laugh at you falling asleep on the toilet. Its good you had the walker to keep you upright. lol Gabapentin can definitely make you groggy. I had blisters all around my incision. They thought I must be allergic to the adhesive.

Celle, thank you so much for going to the trouble of searching that article out for me. That was very kind. It's just a tiny blister, about the size of a dime, and it popped itself. I really think it was tape or ice related . But I will be on the lookout for more blisters! That poor man in the article . At least he had a good outcome.

PT just left. Very gentle. He works in a nursing home when he is not doing home visits, so he is impressed I am up and dressed. His idea of exercise regimen was heel pumps and helping me use the walker! I did not dissuade him of his cheering my excellent walker using skills. On Wednesday he is going to teach me how to put on my shoes! I know I should just cancel or tell him the truth about my functional level, but goodness, what ever happened to assessing a patient?

I'm icing and elevating. Drinking a lot of water trying to get that oxy out of my system. And I'm done with the gabapentin. I'm glad not to be in pain, but I don't like this zombie feeling. I find myself just staring into space and practically drooling. No wonder poor PT guy doesn't think I know how to put on my shoes.

Those loopy feelings are awful. I'm so glad that ice helps so much so we don't have to take that much pain meds.

I had to laugh at your comments, not the zombie feeling. Sure let the PT feel like he is being useful and at least he is not hurting you. I would play up your faked dependency just to keep him in line. :) I hope your normal alert self appears soon. I sure it will.

I had to laugh. Does he not know you had a previous TKR.? Oh well, at least he's gentle.
Sounds like you are doing well, with no pain.
