TKR Knees 1 AND 2 up and running

Thank you and good morning! RG, the prayer is wonderful.

God is good. I slept like a log last night. Watching SNL reruns until time to go. I am calm - it has to be prayer as I have no Xanax !

See you guys on the other side of surgery :).

The best of luck to you Shelia. I'm sure everything will go well. Your old operated knee will be quite ready to take over. It's good that you had to wait 6 weeks instead of 4.

You are in my prayers, too. Looking forward to hearing it's all over with!

In waiting room. Phoning off now. Thank you my friends. Pray on. I'm praying for you all.

Happily in room. Ice machine running. No pain. Coke and crackers. Wonderful nurses. Warm blankets. God is good.

I'm glad knee number two is done. It sounds as if things are going well.

So that you don't have to look back to the beginning of your thread, here is your post-op, recovery reading list again:
First are the BoneSmart mantras ....
- rest, elevate, ice and take your pain meds by the clock
- if it hurts, don't do it and don't allow anyone - especially a physiotherapist (PT) - to do it to you. exercise only gently
- if your leg swells more or gets stiffer in the 24 hours after doing it, don't do it again
- if you won't die if it's not done, don't do it
- never stand when you can sit, never sit when you can lie down, never stay awake when you can go to sleep!
- be active as much as you need to be but not more than is necessary, meaning so much that you end up being in pain, exhausted or desperate to sit down or lie down!

Next is a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) thread.

So good to hear from you and all went well. Rest up, enjoy the ice. Hope the healing goes well.

Celle, thank you for reposting the articles. My sweet nurse looked thru them and wants to tell her other patient about Bonesmart.

The spinal has worn off-- I had a brief increase of pain to about a 7, but immediately relieved with some IV Dilaudid . The nurse keeps the ice machine nice and full. I have a wonderful air filled warming blanket for the rest of me. They just sent hubby home (nicely), but I'm not sleepy. The nurse will help me up in an hour and get me in my own nightie and catheter out. I think I can sleep then.

OS said this knee was in much worse shape than other knee but he is proud of his handiwork. So far, so good.

Thanks for being here, you all. One day I hope to pay it forward.

How do I change my thread name to Knee 2 Up and Running? :)

Sounds like you have a great nurse and a great hospital. Soon you'll have 2 knees up and running. Glad the IV dilauded did the trick.

Hooray for you and your husband and the two little knees! So happy to hear your good initial report. Hope you sleep well! Audrey

:flwrysmile:Welcome to recovery! You did it! Rest and let everyone care for you.

Wow, I'm impressed that your writing makes sense, I remember my first day, I could barely concentrate long enough to write one sentence, I'm glad you are doing so well.

I hope you can sleep and rest tonight!

Clara, I think it's the difference betweeen a spinal and GA.

Shelia, so happy to see you on the other side of this surgery! You'll be home tomorrow am and in your nest. :yes!:

Great post op pic! Hope you slept good and that they are keeping you pain free! Praying as you transition home & as you recover! Two brand new knees!!!!
