Kneeling

At 4.5 weeks post surgery I am still using the antibiotic soap provided by the dr as a precaution against infection. Am I nuts?

If your incision is totally closed you don't need to worry. But if it makes you feel better it can't hurt.

Not yet, I am removing the steri strips a few at a time as I see the scar come on. My pt said take them off but I dont move that quick.

Is it anything to worry about if op leg is darker than nonop leg?

Mine stayed red, thus looking darker. Could this be what you're seeing?

Yes, my pt has me wrapping with an ace bandage as a compression stocking and it helps. Looked worse tonight

I always had long pants on but noticed mine was darker (almost purple) in the shower. I put it down to circulation and standing for longer periods of time. But many have noticed the same thing.

@KarriB did the long pants annoy your knee? Its cold and I wore sweats to pt today and it was annoying. I am looking forward to my incision scarring so I can put seran wrap on it. Lol

Pants can be annoying in the first few months. I wore shorts almost most of the time last March when I had it done. Eventually it starts to fade away.

The darker color on your leg can be caused by the betadine wash that was done on your leg prior to surgery. That too will fade.

In my early days, it was summer, but when I did have to wear pants, I wore very soft and loose sweat pants. Not the most dressy thing, but with a pretty sweater of blouse over the top, most people wouldn't notice at all.

No, my pants were so soft and super stretchy, they didn't bother my incision at all. But it was 5-6 months before I could wear jeans.

I had a new experience this morning. You know when you wake up and your body goes into an "involuntary" stretch? My leg and knee joined in and it sent me to the toof for a bit. Couldnt stop it even though it was painful. Thought I would be non weight bearing today but it wasn't too bad. Anyone else experience this?

Almost like a cramp? This happened to me when without thinking I'd do a morning stretch and my leg would cramp right up my thigh. Yikes! But it was never the worse for it.

It takes me a bit to trust the knee in the morning so I stay with my friend Ethel first thing until I feel more stable. Still unnerving.

On a positive note took a stand up shower. Still have the stool just in case but the shower takes way less time.
