Hip Infection* Izabel, Walking on Sunshine

 Everybody. It's been a week since I reported for duty.

My brother in law is visiting from Germany for two weeks so have been otherwise occupied. Visitors can be tiring so thank goodness he is staying at a B&B not far away but comes over from 11am to 5pm daily. :umm:

But there is progress ... I am able to walk slowly from the bedroom (with walker) up the hall into living room by the fireplace then up the small step to the living room and up another small step into the kitchen . :thud: Today I stood up and looked through my closet and found a blouse to wear and took it out ... then had to sit down!

I have been out three times this week for lunch and enjoyed sitting in the fresh air. The days not out we sat in the garden and hubby did lunch. Today friends brought lunch over and we ate in the garden. Tomorrow Hubby and BinL got to get KFC to have with leftover homemade coleslaw and potatoes from today ... in the garden of course. Sunday out to lunch up in the hills. Phew, life is tiring when you are not bedbound!!! And I did a bit of gardening from the wheelchair! Life is great, ain't it! :egypdance:

Regarding my hair, I have been pondering cutting it to shoulder length layered with a fringe/bang Farrah Fawcett style like I had 40 years ago. :flabber:, It would hide a scar on the right of my forehead from a fall (light spot on the photo which is an indent also).

Hope everyone else is doing well and half as happy as I am.
Take care :loveshwr: Izabel xx

Ahh great update... getting outside certainly helps recovery!

Cut your beautiful hair... oohhhhhh [emoji2162] It’s so luxurious.. I’m well jealous .

You are doing great! Although tiring, it sounds like you have had a very uplifting week! Keep it up - all that vitamin D must be working magic for you.
Consider daily styling before cutting your hair. My hair is fine, thin and straight as pin. Without a perm I spend ages everyday styling it. Hence, I am trying hard to grow it so I can at least put it up somedays.

@Carriemay60 I am loving the sun. Today we are going to be near 80F but we sit in the shade. When you have the sun so frequently (over 3,000 hours/300 days per year) you don't need to sit in it. It is all around you.

My hair is thick and when shorter is wavy-ish. I have thought about styling ... that means wash, comb and let dry naturally. :heehee: The thing that holds me back somewhat is not having it up or held back with a claw clip.
Sending healing sunshine and warmth you way and wishing you a peaceful weekend.

So happy to hear you are slowly able to do more and getting out into the world again.
Wishing you a beautiful weekend!

Happy to see you are doing so well @Izabel All that sunshine sounds lovely. Glad to see you are progressing and spending time with friends. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

:hi:
How have things been going at the two month mark from your last surgery?
You know I just noticed that your last procedure was one year to the day of the car accident.
What a year you have had!:sigh:
I hope you are having a good week, dear Izabel!

You are a sweet dear @Mojo333. xx

Yes, year to the day. I married on my birthday. Like to keep things simple. :heehee:

Visitor gone home, lovely to see rellies but tiring entertaining, especially when you are not up to it. We had a heatwave whilst he was here, 12c above normal!! Back to normal temps today thankfully.

Progress ... this morning after pedaling I walked 3 small steps forward then backwards to the chair with two canes four times, then five steps forward, turned and then back. A bit wobbly but I did it! Will go again later. I tried with one cane but not ready for that yet! Then had a nifty walk with the walker up and down the foyer.

Hubby has just gone to the SNS/NHS/State hospital 30 minutes away to get my blood test appointment for cancer followup. Have an actual RX so can't phone for appointment. See Oncology Surgeon on 19 June and in between have Mammogram/Eco Scan. Monday I have Dental Surgeon to remove tooth roots where tooth broke off due to medications. Never a dull moment! :thud:

Trust all are progressing and being kind to themselves. xx

That is a nice bit of progress - good for you!! As nice as it is to have company, it is always nice when they go home and you can have your house back. With Mojo bringing up dates I just realized you and I were only a few months apart from our original slip & falls. Five years has been a very long journey but I haven't had a car accident and cancer to deal with on top of it. You must be so thrilled to be coming out the other end of all of this. Good Luck at the dentist today - Ouch!!

@Carriemay60, dentist is Monday. You have had a rough ride yourself and now deserve some peace and comfort.

Blood tests are on Friday the 24th. Lumpectomy/reconstruction was in October 2013 followed by intense radiotherapy (25 full/10 boosts as I refused chemo) going into 2014 ... I just like to keep things contained and controlled ... Also hubby had a neck tumor removed in 2016 to add spice to our life ... guess he was feeling left out ... :console2: But once I get my act into gear, we are off and running ... well, maybe not running, but cruising.

Sunday check in. Have wandered up and down foyer on walker and will practice with canes later. However, it is time for me to go soak in the bath and wash my hair. :bath: Hubby will supervise entry and exit. :ok:

All is going well. No hip issues, no foot pain, but knee still tight and I am walking stiff legged making it difficult to do heel to toe. I have been massaging knee and thought the pedaling would loosen things up.

Happy Sunday @Izabel Glad to see you are making progress with two canes and practicing getting in a few more steps. Go slow and take care. You have such an amazing and inspiring attitude. You have certainly had more than your share of challenges. Sending peaceful, healing thoughts.

Oh you sound too be doing very well!:happyfeet:
Baby steps will make big strides.
:praying: for good report on bloodwork!
Hope you're day is cooler (we were 91F yesterday in Georgia)

You'll need a nap after washing that gorgeous mane, Rapunzel :heehee:
It sounds like you're doing really well. Sorry your knee is not cooperating. Wondering if some heat would help loosen your knee?
Always enjoy your updates and hope to hear from you again soon.
Wishing you a wonderful week :)

Oh well, visit did not go as planned with Dental Surgeon ... but he was a handsome young man so visit not entirely useless. :heehee: He talked to us for about my issues for 30-40 minutes. Said about reports of antibiotics ... the yes/no theory from one year to the next. He said in my case I am 'special', that hubby would agree  looking at him, but that he must consider what is best for me. He is going to have me do a CTX (beta cross-laps) plasma blood test for bone resorption as I was on nasty bisphosphonate (Alendronic Acid / Fosamax) last year for Osteoporosis. Dentists DO NOT like this drug with a possible half life of ten years.

This test is not done at the private hospital so I have an Rx for a local Lab. When I get the results I have to e-mail him (given private e-address) and depending on results we proceed from there. That is, remove roots or not. If it is all go, I have to use a chlorohexidine gel and mouthwash for 6 days beforehand. The Dental Clinic being part of the private hospital I have been going to, he was able to bring up my latest blood results and was pleased with them.

So, no more medical till Friday with my cancer blood tests ... like the CRP and SED results for infection, i have wires implanted as markers.

Other than above, it is a lovely day here, the mini heatwave having passed us, and all else is well. It is getting easier and easier to 'hop' in and out of the car unaided.
Hope everyone has a wonderful week filled with sunshine (even if it may just be in the mind). :loveshwr:

Hello...
Thanks for the update, Izabel. I hope you're able to get the dental issues resolved quickly without incident.
Prayers all goes well with your appt on Friday re: your bloodwork. Please keep us posted.
A great week to you!
@Izabel

It is my 10 week anniversary today. My doesn't time fly when you are having fun! :umm:

Nothing exciting happened today. Walked around the house a lot with walker and did about 20 steps with two canes. Also did my normal 20 minutes pedaling. Boy, my knee sure gave me grief. :flabber:

I would like to clarify why I am mentioning my dental issues on a bone forum The reason I am is for awareness of others who may be on (or in the future may be) Fosamax or similar for Osteoporosis as it is this drug which has caused my dental problems. I have seen three dentists and they would not deal with my tooth roots until six months after I had finished taking it, and I only took it for five months.
Wishing everyone a pleasant day/evening. :mooncat:
