Thanks Jo I will go read xx

Nope no appointment yet Mr Porter has to agree to see me again and he hasn't been in the office to look over the referral letters yet and she said even when he does come in he isn't in clinic for a few weeks so you will have to see one of his registrars!

Thanks Jamie and I will give hubby an extra hug he has been a rock even more so lately and he's going through a tough time too as his father passed away a few weeks ago :(

One thing I've noticed while reading the posts: no matter how much they hurt or if recovery isn't going well or if everything is going better than scheduled, BoneSmarties do take the time to care about other members. The most recent is in this thread. Felt a tug when Natalie said to Jaycee "hope you're doing OK."

Natalie, I'm sorry about your problems. I hope something will be able to help you very soon with the pain and give you a plan to take care of your situation.

Hugs to you AND to your wonderful hubby.

Thankyou so much huni :friends:

When the consultant from the hospital was looking at my x rays he was staring at them for age and he said showed us that everything looked ok but at one point he hesitated and stared at it for a long time and said your surgeon will no better as it's him who put the replacement in so he will know more about how much bone he took away etc?!!

Me and hubby thought it was odd at the time!

After reading some of the knee fusion post I understand now why it may help and I am almost sure it would take some of the pain away.

Hey Natalie! I am going to try to follow your thread as best I can, but it's hard for me to bounce around and try to remember where I've posted. Please ask me anything on the "knee fusion...I need information" thread that I have. I check it every day, and also update as to how I'm doing with my fusion and how my recovery is going.
I'm seeing my Dr. for my 3 week post-op check-up and xrays tomorrow (March 22) and I'll post on my thread how it goes!

There is light at the end of the tunnel....I promise! :friends:

Thanks Audrey.

Well the man himself my consultant has just rang!!

He wants to see me ASAP but guess what he can't see me till 4th April so just under a 2 week wait in the mean time he's phoning my doctors with a list of meds he wants me to take and he wants me to be seen by my doctor this week and next to check the swelling and how I'm doing. It was a very strange conversation an he seemed worried?!

Hi Natalie
I am so pleased your OS has spoken to you and has arranged pain meds for you - at least your situation is moving forward (of sorts). It's good to know he will be seeing you soon. Take care and keep us posted xx

Hi Natalie, sounds like everybody is jumping!! With the antibiotics, and anti inflammatory, they must be thinking a loss infection? At least they are giving you something fairly strong for your pain. Take care, you really have had a time with it!!

Thanks Meg yes I forgot to say the blood results showed there is an infection somewhere in my body but no guarantee its my knee so the antibiotics are to be on the safe side.

Natalie!

I am so sorry about the pain, but infections will cause excruciating pain!:hate-shocked: I know, I had that happen after the knee split open. No amount of pain meds could stop it. I am still hopeful that they can see about the hinged knee option for you. If not, a leg fusion wouldn't be a bad second option. You need relief! :friends:

Thanks Sonja I haven't got any major symptoms of infection though did you have symptoms?

I keep getting a temperature and I feel nauseous and there is a few red patches which they said last week was inside bleeding?
I'm very confused :( I don't think my doc will be in a hurry to remove the replacement I have now but maybe one day in the future I will get the hinged knee and I will be mentioning it at my appointment and telling him I have a bonesmartie friend who is getting one :thumb:

A temperature and nauseous feelings were the first signs of problems for me. Then the headache started and fatigue, and horrible pain!

I am praying that your consultant will see the light about the hinged knee. I know that Dr. Maale has dealt with patients who have the condition you have, and has successfully put this knee in! :thumb:

I am so excited that Jo is going to meet Dr. Maale! She will be able to "pick his brain" for some ideas about how to get the new knee in the UK! :O)

OMG has he???That is so exciting there isn't many that have worked with my condition I may consider a move to Dallas!!

I have the headache and fatigue too but I have put it down to all the meds and lack of sleep! The pain is getting so much worse but I have had to do more while my husband has been at work.

Dr. Maale has worked with all of the "hard cases." LOL...... He won't accept you if you aren't a challenge. i heard him tell two different people to go back to their ortho docs and the women both told him that they had heard he was the best. He replied, just thank God that you don't need my expertise. He never told me that Hmmmmm:th_heehee: Of course I've always been told I am a difficult case! LOL:hysterical: Oh wait a minute, we are talking about my knee!:th_heehee:

Natalie I am so glad things are starting to happen for you. Get those meds going on a regular basis.

We are here for you! I hope the time passes a bit quicker now that you have proper meds. Big (((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))) for you Natalie!

Thanks so much Jaycey they should be here in the morning fingers crossed I will sleep tomorrow!!xxx

Natalie,

So glad to hear that someone is finally listening and trying to do something to help. I sure hope a fix is on it's way. Why would you think the OS would not want to change your knee if there is a problem in there, what is the point in waiting?
