THR Impingement

Palmer's also makes an oil that absorbs quickly - and a little goes a long way. I've barely made a dent in the bottle I bout for the first THR. I didn't have your problem on the glue - mine all same off (some on sheets) around the 2 week mark. Maybe it's a difference in temperature and humidity. It hasn't been above 15 degrees this week in St. Louis. We got a couple of inches of snow just before Christmas and its still sitting there. Meanwhile, the air is so dry!

I love bio oil. It’s done great things with my scars from 2 knee arthroscopies, 2 bunion ops, 2 c-sections and 1 hernia and now my hip!! Think I may be keeping them in business :heehee:

Isn't your husband's knee surgery tomorrow? Just wanted to extend my good wishes for a successful surgery and outcome!

@jlsotr. Yes! We are in hospital waiting to go home. Thank you for your good wishes. His surgery was a 7:30. We can’t wait to get settled back home. He will be on the other side of bonesmart soon.

Glad husband’s knee went well. Now two of you on the other side. Try not to overdo in the caretaker role.

Patient # 1 and Patient # 2. It's like the blind, leading the blind :heehee:
Hopefully between the two of you there are enough working limbs.

In all seriousness... your recovery has been great @lucinda007
I hope hubby's is as smooth as yours has been.
A great day to you both :friends:

Congratulations on doing so well on your recovery, you are an inspiration. Now that your hubby is on the other side, you will be his support system- great chance to pay back in the best way. My hubby's joints are disgustingly healthy, so I have been on the taking side for both my surgeries. I owe so many foot rubs!

Best luck to both of you on your recovery. Let us know how it goes.

I'm so happy he is now on the other side, and as others have said, you need to find that balance of taking care of yourself and him. I'm sure you have this under control. Keep us updated when you can, and best of luck!

Thanks for the well wishes. He’s doing great. Yay for Narco and Tramadol. Me on the other hand. I overdid it the first day of taking care of him but doing fine today. After doing 21 flights of steps. Yes, you heard me, my thigh was a bit swollen and burny. After Advil and sleep, I’m good. Except I had SI joint problems before my hip replacement and because my hip hurt, it sort of masked the SI joint pain. So, now I’m dealing with that.

I’ll get it figured out eventually. Here's a neat idea for icing if you can still find one of the ice bags.
(The photo and original idea is from my lurking bonesmart friend :friends: who will remain nameless).

I found my small ice bag at Rite Aid. You can find them on Amazon as well. The Ace wrap was from my hubby’s knee surgery. It works for my SI joint as well as the hip. It stays cold for a long no time. It looks kind of funny but it allows me to move around and ice at the same time.

These are what I used almost exclusively. You can get a set on Amazon (Koo Care) that comes with a solid wrap to hold it on. I got that this time around. With first one, though, I cut slots parallel with the edge of the ace wrap to fit the cap through each time you wound it around. Made it quick and easy to secure.

Luckily, I don't think so. When I had the last MRI, though, they quite helpfully pointed out some degenerative disc issues in lumbar area which I hadn't known about (and wish I didn't know about). I fell and bruised my tailbone as a teenager and have had lower back issues in the past but (knock wood) it's been much better since I started using lumbar supports at the office and at home. Back trouble is the worst!

My anterior surgery was Nov 28 scar on Dec 14 and today Dec 5.

I had to use hand soap and let it sit for awhile in the shower and then pick off that super glue. After that, I have taken baths and showers and massaged in the Bio oil after. The lighting is different. It’s getting better every day. The weird thing is that I have one little stitch poking out in the middle. The dr. Says it will fall off or dissolve. Just noticed that the photos are upside down from each other. Mole up. Mole down.

@SaraK yes. Backs hurting=no fun. I just discovered using a lumbar support pillow and use it a lot. I need to loose some weight, too. I have gained since my surgery Nov. 28.

I was surprised that I only gained about 3 lbs back (lost over 20 after first THR in April) - must be keeping it off dancing! But back on the diet this week.

Take care of yourself as you take care of hubby!

It appears your scar is healing well @lucinda ....looking good.
Have a great weekend!

Hey Lucinda, Stopping by to say Hi!
I've noticed a couple posts from you here and there. Wondering how you're doing?
You're coming up on 3 months already, time is flying!
Hope you're doing well, hubby too after his knee surgery.
We'd love to hear how your recovery is going. Hugs!
@lucinda007

I had anterior THR and sailed through recovery. Everything went well. But now, 5 months (Nov. 28, 2017) after surgery, I can’t lift that leg and if I do, I get a very sharp pain in my groin. I have to lift my leg with my hand to get into the car. I don’t think I have done anything extreme.

I have an appointment with the OS on May 7. I really don’t think it’s the replacement gone bad. Has anyone else had pain like this after everything went so well? I would love to hear some positive outcomes.

I am taking Advil 1-2 times per day (only lessens pain), I’m taking the elevator and after I take a walk, I'm icing. I’ve tried hip flexor stretches and then I’ve also laid off of them. Nothing makes this go away.

I had PT but finished about 4 weeks ago. I didn’t have pain while in pt. I am able to walk without pain! It’s all mysterious and above all, frustrating. If anyone has had this pain or has suggestions, don’t hesitate to let me know. If there is a way to find old posts regarding groin pain after THR, tell me how to find it. I can’t seem to figure out how to search for old threads. Thanks in advance.

@lucinda007
Oh my this is a crummy development for you!
I just tried the search box at the very top of this page.
I put in "anterior groin pain 5 months after hip replacement "
You post came up with about three pages of others. So others have
Experienced this?
I have no real insight other than you may have moved wrong ,
not noticed and now have a pulled something.
Good news you can walk without pain- And we hope it stays that way!
Hopefully other more experienced hippies will chime in.
