THR Impingement

I did a little Amazon shopping myself @lucinda007 but some store shopping also.
Amazon sure is convenient.
Good news your groin pain is gone and I remember boredom!

Wow....you and hubby in close proximity with the recovery.
It may be like the blind leading the blind :rotfl: you two will surely get some laughs out of your duel
recoveries.
Wishing you a great night!

Hi @lucinda007 . I've been following your recovery closely since I had a RTHR with Dr. Hamilton on 12.1.17. Did it at the outpatient surgery center. Reading your post immediately after your surgery (2 days before mine) was very reassuring. My recovery has been very similar to yours -- little pain, easy to walk, etc. Turns out I will be seeing Dr. Hamilton on the 27th as well--at 2:15. What time is your appointment? Interested in hearing what types of questions you intend to ask.

Also, thanks to all bonesmart posters for the excellent advice and comradery.

Tomorrow I have my 4 week post op check. Lots of questions! I’m doing well. When I walk, nothing hurts but getting up from sitting, I have the groin pain for a few seconds. Sometimes when I’m sitting, I get a burning feeling in my outer thigh. All very very minor. Here’s what I want; no pain and no restrictions on movement so that will forget that I even had the thr! I want to swing my leg over my bike, get in the car without lifting my leg, play pickleball, do a whip kick for breast stroke. Is that waaaay to much to expect?

:wowspring:Not asking for much there, dear @lucinda007 :heehee: You sound great at 4 weeks post op :yay:
I saw a pretty Christmas pic of you over in Mojo's thread. Looking good, Lucinda!
Hoping you had a peaceful joyous holiday.

Good luck with your doctor visit tomorrow, I hope it goes well.
Give us an update afterward if you feel like sharing.
Warm wishes for a great week!

Not too much to expect some months from now...those muscle stingy thingys hung on for some four months...still get have one sneak up on me out of the blue.
But will continue to get better and better....one month out is early on.
PT unnecessary...let all that stuff settle I say.
Now at 8 months little I can't do and I only get aches when I've seriously overdone it...which is still possible.
Then again, I think to myself at 54 might be feeling some anyway.

Mojo33....clarification please

The pains you are spaeaking about that you get once in awhile. Are those in relation to your surgery or General aches and pains? Thanks

Yo... @Mojo333
Sweet, Lucinda is looking for you....she forgot the silly little @ in her tag

Oh no...the thigh weirdness is definitely surgery related. Quads were super sore and could get tight...groin pain, and zips and zaps from nerves as my legs went from numb to sore. Got better and better every week, I'd say.

I walk an awful lot between buildings at my job so after long day I think some could be just due to taking it easy during recovery and coming back from years of bad gait and posture from hips.
I guess I'm not a spring chicken...is what I meant and anyone can get sore from walking more than normal. And I pretty much speed walk anyway.

Hi there @lucinda007
Wow, that's quite the list.
Good luck at your 4 week appt tomorrow.
Come back and update us if you feel like sharing.
A great night to you!

Didn't you have an anterior approach done? The main restriction I was told about was no straight leg lifts following my anterior that's scheduled on the 28th. Perhaps that is why your groin is being aggravated? I've read your thread and can only hope for a recovery like yours!

Hi Lucinda,
Hoping all went well today and that you had a great visit with the doctor.
Four weeks already, whew, time flies!
Four weeks was a big turning point for me. I remember going on my first grocery shopping outing alone.
Didn't have to lean on the cart like I did pre-op. I felt like on was on a high I was so happy.
I enjoyed myself and leisurely shopped. Normally, grocery shopping was not on my list of favorite things. I think losing the pain gave me a new lease on life! Hoping you're feeling great!
Warm wishes for a for a great holiday weekend

Hi Lucinda,
Just wondering how your 4 week check went? We’re they able to answer all of your questions?
Hope you had a lovely Christmas.

@jlsotr good luck tomorrow. You are going to be up and moving soon. I was really nervous the day of my surgery. Normal. But you will find that you are up and about really soon. Here’s a suggestion.
@janet121 You’re going for 4 week tomorrow too. Here’s some of my questions, since you asked:
1. When is this “off and on” groin pain going to end and if it doesn’t after that, who do I contact?
2. Do I have to continue with the Celebrex after the check up? Or any othe med for inflammation? I haven’t had to take any narcotic at all. Not even my night stay in the hospital (sort of a waste but the food was good)
3. What’s the best stuff to use on this scar?
4. I’d like to try yoga after the first of the year. Never done it. Will I be able to get into those extreme positions. If not now, when.
5. When can I go past 90Degrees?
6. Who sewed me up? Incision pretty crooked imho
7. I play pickleball that requires running, lateral movement and twisting. When can I play? Also a whip kick.
8. How long before numbness goes away
9. I don’t totally sleep on my stomach, but sometimes I’m almost there. Is that ok?
10. Do I need continued pt? Do you have a highly recommended pt person or place?
11. Not going to do leg lifts as it kills my groin. Would that be a problem if I don’t do them
12. I’m due for colonoscopy in 2018. When can I schedule? Also dermatologist for spider veins and a place on my face might needed removing.

All went well! All questions answered. Found out I could have been bending more than 90 degrees because of the anterior approach. Pt was wrong. Grrrr. I drove to the store today and did grocery shopping. I was taking Celebrex 1x day and now I don’t have to take it any more. Trying to pick off the glue used to seal the incision. Used bio-oil on it. Looks better. That’s about it.

Good news @lucinda007. With my anterior the only restriction was no plant and turn. Good luck with the glue-it is tough stuff to get rid of, which is probably a good thing.

Happy to hear your visit went well @lucinda007
Glad to hear the Bio Oil is working. I have Bio Oil but it doesn't seem to completely absorb. I don't favor it for that reason only. Not sure if you notice that.
What I found helpful in getting rid of some of that pesky tape was rubbing a generous amount of liquid soap on the incision area in the shower then keeping that side out of the range of the shower head for a few minutes. Next, I'd gently rub it with my hand and if I felt really brave give it a barely touching little scratch. The soap seemed to work as a bit of a solvent. That last little bit of tape is definitly stubborn!

I find it absorbs well, but that is because I have old skin! I would like to try anything that might work. You mentioned some kind of cocoa butter? I’ll try the liquid soap trick for the glue.

Hi Lucinda
My favorite is Palmer's Cocoa Butter Lotion with Vitamin E
It's in a white plastic squeeze bottle, any drugstore.
Kind of a thick creme, you don't need much!

I also have the Palmer's Cocoa Butter with Vitamin E in a white jar.
Personally, I don't like it as much. It's a balm. So you need to keep rubbing your fingers over it to get any
or gouge it out with the back of your fingernail if you're impatient like me! :heehee:
