TKR I have a new knee!

Thanks, Kathy.
I still can't eat. Only yogurt . Because the iron makes me feel so sick, my husband grilled a nice piece of steak. He was so thoughtful. Thought that the red meat and spinach would help build my blood. A few bites and I was sick again. In the hospital they gave me zofram in my IV. Since being home, I just get sick when I eat. I guess I'll have to call tomorrow, but I have been trying so hard to do well and trying to ignore the little things. As long as I don't eat, I don't get sick.

Positive update!
I took a REAL shower tonight. Not a shower on the shower seat with the handheld shower head. I went downstairs to the walk in shower and could have done an Herbal Essence commercial! (You know the one....:rotfl::loll:) My husband sat on the jacuzzi tub and read the newspaper to be close by. I'm icing right now and in a bit I'm going to blow my hair. Ahhhhhh, a slice of normal feels so good! I also feel comfortable going up and down the stairs....when necessary.

Wow good job!! And I bet that shower was almost as good as........! And awesome news about the stairs. :happydance: You go girl!!

Nyland, sometimes I feel like I am keeping up with everyone's post then I read this one and I am thinking OMG this poor lady and what she has gone through. Don't know how I missed all these posts. I am thinking your old PT person got a good butt chewing. Did you find out if she got in any trouble? Do you have to use that knee bending machine anymore, sorry forgot what it is called? I know they don't use them at our hospital or PT. I will try and keep up here and hope you will do better each day.

Sonja,
Thanks so much for the encouragement. I feel like I'm on the right track to recovery and I'm fine with f it takes me a little bit longer everyone else, as long as I get to be where I should be...eventually. How are you doing, my friend?

Hello Nyland!

I am doing pretty good! My kneecap says otherwise as well as the inside muscle on the right knee, but I found out that the polyps in my stomach were caught in time. No cancer, so I would say I am feeling fantastic! :happydance:

I hope you continue to improve and God bless you. I will watch or your posts!

Nyland, so glad to hear your new PT is much more on board for your positive recovery!:thumb: And Nanners had a point there about that shower feeling as good as....., but easy girls this too shall come, no pun intended!:friends: I hope your tummy settles down soon there's nothing worst than that sick feeling. Get well soon Nyland. Life will get better!:thumb:

I just love you all!It sure is nice to have someplace to come when the dreaded bed dread begins to settle in.
Sonja,
Thank God that the polyps were not cancerous. Please forgive me for missing that when you were going through such a scare. You are so supportive to all of us and always so upbeat, you deserve good news and happiness!
Debbie, THANK YOU! I just lost a few measly days due to swelling. I don't use the CPM machine. It is wrapped in bubblewrap on the back porch. I actually didn't mind it, but once I swelled everything was off limits. I did ask my PT today if I should give it another try. She said no, not yet. The machine is gentle and feels nice. We'll see if my OS says give it another try at some point.
I really hope that I get the ok to do PT in my pool. My PT also does water aerobics at a local tennis club all winter. She told me that she thinks I will love it. I'm considering it. I'm feeling like I'm getting little bits of my NORMAL back and it makes me feel so safe and happy. As for pain pills, I am down to 3 per day. 1 for PT, 1 in the morning, and one at night. That keeps my pain at about a 2 - 3 tops! Things are definitely getting better, and if I deciphered Jacky's post properly, things are going to get a whole lot better! :happydance:
Thanks every one of you. I feel like you are much special group of friends.

Nyland,

Did you mention Bubblewrap! :happydance: We are taking up a collection to reach 50,000 pounds to be delivered to BJ's house for the winter ski trip! Now BJ is very humble about all of this and would never ask herself... So I am putting out the word! The only problem is I can't get that darned BJ to announce her address to the world, so we may just have to send it in care of the city she lives in! (I just don't understand her reluctance when I am trying to do a good deed!) :rotfl:

Hi Nyland, i am glad you got your pt person changed, hopefully things will go a lot smoother now.
As for the iron, i do understand how you feel, before every surgery i have had and whilst being pregnant twice, i was to take iron supplements, but for the life of me good not take them, made vomit, and diarrhea so bad that i was just better of not taking them, you may want to talk to your dr about that, maybe you can get the iron through foods in your diet. Good luck and take care:flwrysmile:

Nyland, so good to hear you are feeling higher and higher :dancy: You are getting there no so slowly now and I think you are over those bad hurdles now :yay:

Sonja, that's way good news for you, what a relief for you :beg: :dancy:

My OS's secretary just responded to my email. I told her that my PT would love to do PT in the pool.I explained that our pool was pristine and we had stairs with 2 railings. She responded that she thinks that all of my appointments should be in our pool and she'll bring fancy umbrella drinks. LOL She'll let me know what he says. THIS should be interesting. :spin:

Love it! You are definitely making a fresh start with this PT>
How is the stomach doing?

My husband and grand-daughter re loving the mashed potatoes. hahahahahahaha! I'll give them a try when our babysitting duties are done. My little peanut is convinced that she is my doc mcstuffins while her mom is a an appointment, but as soon as papa walked in she has been his best friend. :heehee:

Look at those numbers, you are doing wonderful Nyland. Keep doing what you are doing and it will all be over before too long. Tough luck on the pool, but I am sure the doctor has his reasons.

Congrats Nyland on the progress! Stairs and a shower! And it sounds like your new PT person rocks! So good to hear you doing well!

Hey Nyland, tell that Papa to back off, you need Doc McStuffins to help you with your PT. I say a few extra hugs and snuggles are needed in your recovery! Glad to hear a smile in your voice! I can't take iron myself it just makes my insides rebel. There is suppose to be a more gentler iron you can take that causes less blechiness. I will see if I can find the name out for you. Hugs!

Tonight was my last belly shot!!! (I had to do 2 per day due to my insurance.) HOORAY! It may take forever for the giant belly bruises to heal, but I'm not one bit worried about it. Starting tomorrow just 1 325 mg aspirin per day. I can walk without a walker or cane, go up and down the stairs, and went for a short ride tonight. Things are looking up. Had a good day. I guess my off day was just an isolated 'feeling sorry for myself' day. Tomorrow my plan is to sit outside and enjoy watching the family in the pool. Goodnight my friends. What would I every do without you?
