TKR Hopefaith's Ups and Downs of Recovery

I was vacuuming for my wife the other day and being right handed I push the vacuum with my right hand. No matter whether my right leg was in front of me or in back of me, every time I pulled the vacuum back it hit my knee. I will no longer vacuum because of that. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Good story! I told my husband 25 years ago that mowing the lawn would make my uterus fall out...yep, never mowed!

@Tamsmom I really like that one. Do you think he really believes that or is just mowing the lawn because? I have a self propelled mower so it is not too difficult to coax my sons to do the lawn.

We all need a good laugh, more now than then @NightQuilter.You are ever so right!! @Phil75070, I guess your doc would feel I am truly addicted with all the pain medication I am on. Not so much for the knee pain, more so for RA pain which is chronic. @hopefaith, How are you finding the Tramadol. I was on that about a year and a half ago for RA pain and it did me well. It wouldn't work now that I know. Hope you are feeling well physically and mentally and that you are getting the proper rest. You are such a good so as many in this group are. Always thinking about and checking on others regardless of how much you yourself have going on. God bless you.

@tansmom wedding is in Fort Collins @chestnc so happy to see your posts again! Day 3 of Tramadol and I am starting with low doses, but it already seems to be helping. I am quickly decreasing my other stronger meds which is helping my psyche a lot!
LOVE all the stories above. Laughter truly IS the best medicine @NightQuilter!
You all are such a gift. I say that a lot but you'll probably never know what you have given me through this!

At this point on my life I wouldn't mind if it did just drop out! Spoken like the 51 year old woman I am!

Fort Collins is a great place, we have some really good friends that moved there about 10 years ago, they love it.

My son that lives in boulder just left for 3 weeks in England, we are going to try and get to Boulder for a quick visit at the end of July.

Ioh my! I would have been hopping around on my good knee, oops, I forgot I don't have one yet!
@hopefaith, you are too funny and you make me smile, I pray for your recovery to get better.
@Tamsmom
I also have a husband and teenage daughter to help me! And my daughter is being oh so nice! I am relishing it, for I know the ups and downs of being a teenager will be back as soon as I recover!

I took Tramadol for the first time at night last night instead of Percocet and I slept through the night for really the first time since surgery. Didn't know.

@Nana moon 27 I sure wish this process went faster. (Don't we all!). I read all you are dealing with and it amazes me! Today has been hard. So much going on. I know there is a lot to learn in the journey. I just don't feel good at it today.

thinking of you today. @DogLoverx3 @dogwheels @chestnc @Quasi @71Beetle @JustJeff @Nana moon 27 @Judlepip @busylizzie @Phil75070 @Ellejay @clowny14 @cafecortado @NightQuilter @Pumpkln @lovetocookandsew @kneeper (this is spooky, because if I have forgotten someone, I truly still have narcotic brain and I forget a lot.) AND I will remember as soon as I hit "post reply":thud:

Good day to all of you! Good evening to all you across the pond. I hope your day is lesspain/lessdiscomfort. I have dropped another long acting med. to zero/day....big step as I am amping up the Tramadol. I am not really weighing in on the Tramadol (or the Lady night as @JustJeff calls it...sorry just one more time and I WILL let it go.) yet. I am afraid it is increasing my B.P. and that will not work as I have a heart condition. But, we'll see. I am icing and elevating as I write after traversing my way to church. I am exhausted!
Just wanted to give a little update on how I am doing.

I, on the other hand, am currently testing whether or not I need pain meds by skipping them during the day. The jury is out. (Where'd they go anyway?) But we'll see. Glad you made it to (and back from) church!

Hi @hopefaith Happy to hear you were out and about today. It is tiring isn't it? My hubby dropped me off to visit with my parents for a couple of hours today then came back to pick me up and we ended up staying another couple of hours. I did not do much but it was still tiring. So good to see them. My mom and I go out shopping or do gardening every weekend but have not done so since my surgery. I miss our time together.

You seem to be getting your pain meds sorted out. Be careful with how it affects your BP.

Thanks for the update!

@Tamsmom how are you today? You were talking about working a few weeks ago? How is that going?

~hopefaith

Good morning and afternoon all! I wish I had a funny story this morning........I don't. The tramodol is working somewhat although I can't really assess at this point. I have dropped all my long acting meds. And my knee has been more stiff. We had very severe weather, and that affects both knees. (Weather and knees, boring stuff). I am going to a local craft store to get bling for my crutch for my son's wedding. Eccentric? Probably. But after a TKR I don't think a person is the same. (Is that dramatic or what).
Hope you all have a wonderful morning and rest of your day.
