TKR Hopefaith's Ups and Downs of Recovery

Tamsmom is right MRI will show ligaments. OS would have ordered an MRI if he thought you had injured your ligaments.

He said my ligaments were strong! And I am so happy. My knee is right where it should be. (I will still be back to whine. ;). ) fibromyalgia adds a lot of added components.

@busylizzie must have found the ones she posted online.
I figured the OS tested your ligaments and you are right on schedule for healing.
That is what this board is for, lots of whining, support, understanding, companionship, and great information.

Yes, he did. :) He said something interesting. He said "see how pink your scar is?" That is an indicator how pink and still raw the tissues are on the inside". (It would also tell me why I am not ready for scar massage yet, it hurts too much.). I really like my OS. Too bad the 2 PA's aren't so compassionate.

@hopefaith I will tell you how I got the emoticons but can you wait until tomorrow when I've got more energy please. How are you doing? It will be a very early night for me again tonight I'm shattered.

@hopefaith, to get those emoticons, just click on the smiling face on the top line of the posting box. There will be a line of white boxes that drop down with categories to choose from, just click on them to see what's there, then click on the one or ones you want in your post.

Glad that you're feeling better and more positive after having such a tough time. Remember that you are never alone---we are all in this together---and we're here for you.

Take care and keep us posted. We care.

Of course @busylizzie. Didn't mean to give you another task....no worries. @bottomshollow I know how to use the emoticons on the forum. I was just seeing different ones that looked fun. Don't mean to be a bother. Yeah, today is a tougher day mood wise. It is so dynamic...frustrating.

@hopefaith I don't mind showing you at all. I'm on my tablet at the moment and it doesn't work on that. I can't get to sleep again. I'll be on my laptop in the morning so I'll write down how I did it.

I am so wiped out, so I really get it....I haven't been this tired for weeks.

I guess it's s good sign that you're body is healing after your last "adventure. "

@bottomshollow I liked your saying a lot. It really speaks to me in many ways right now. I know my knee is healing, but my heart is breaking in other ways. I know I am being taken care of though.
@JustJeff yep, a good way to look at it. Interesting, my knee is hurting WAY less than ever and I haven't been this wiped out since the beginning. Strange how it all works. My knee has said tonight, "no more for today, and that is just fine."

As always, thanks for all your support. I continue to be amazed at this forum/site. I never dreamed that such a resource existed, and I would have felt like I was lost without the support and validation you all have brought to me.

@hopefaith there are several ways of adding emoticons. The easiest one is as follows. You don't need to use code this way or add a link

Emoticons
Go to a website that offers free emoticons such as https://www.myemoticons.com/emoticons/hobbies-leisure/
Choose your emoticon and right click on it
Select 'Save Picture As' , select location to save it to, the default is 'My Pictures' and select 'Save'
Now go to 'Bonesmart' where you want to insert an emoticon
Go to 'Upload a file' just as you do to add any picture. Then browse to where you saved the emoticon and select 'Open'
Select full image not thumbnail
Hey Presto you've inserted an emoticon

PS you need to be on a desktop or laptop computer, it doesn't work from my tablet

thank you so much @busylizzie. I appreciate you taking the time to explain all of that. How are you thinking about your upcoming surgery? I know that you are so happy it looks like it'll really happen on time!!! (happy FOR you.)

Okay next rant is when does the "energy drain" improve? I cannot do anything without having to return home, sit on my piriformis and ice my knee. I want to get out and garden ( a little) This my favourite time of year, and I love to create, and plant and DO things. (where did the strike out ability go.....to strike out a word and yet keep it? It was up there at the top a few weeks ago.)

You can expect an energy drain for several weeks yet. Remember, you just had surgery less than 2 weeks ago!

@hopefaith, THE SECRET OF SUCCESS with joint replacements is TIME & PATIENCE. We have to have (or find) the PATIENCE to give our knees TIME to heal at their own pace. Nothing else works like these two things and nothing can take their place. But it is a very hard truth to absorb in the beginning of our recoveries.

Recovery is what it is, and it's going to take as long as it's going to take. So be PATIENT and let TIME take care of things with some assistance from you.

You might go back and re-read the knee articles you were given. They have a lot of the answers to your questions and concerns. A refresher course never hurts any of us.

Take care and keep us posted. We care.

@bottomshollow Yes, I know. Yes. I know. It is just SO hard. Now my knee isn't hurting nearly as bad or should I say as often. SOOO, now I want to do SOMETHING, and my knee still says, "nope". Intellectually I get it. I do need to go do more "homework". The lonely is hard too. Not being able to be with people. I liked how my OS said, on my 6 wk. check that "people are still pretty grouchy at 6 weeks." He is a gem.
But yes, I know this, I just needed a reminder......
