TKR Hopefaith's Ups and Downs of Recovery

My OS didn't worry about ROM! He said it would come, just keep working on it! Even my revisionist wasn't concerned; well maybe he is now, that I am running "wild and free!" :heehee:

Actually, he is so happy that I have made the progress I have. From at one point a knee splitting open because of MRSA, to a possible amputation because of a loss of circulation, to a knee that has a ROM of 155 two years later! I have also gone from 435 to 255 and counting in weight loss! Life is great! :loveshwr:

@RestAssured I do take this MRSA issue very seriously. I just don't want to have a complete panic attack about it. I will definitely get it checked out. Did your knee look pretty normal on the outside? My previous mrsa bouts blew up very quickly. There was no doubt what it was. Anyway, I will keep you updated after my appointment tomorrow.

@busylizzie I just lost your post to bonesmart heaven. That happens if I tag more that 1 person.....whhhy?
Okay so you had me in a bucket of tears reading those verses. I LOVE those verses and I am so touched that you thought of me when you looked at that today. Sometimes this site feels "virtual" and then sometimes I am struck with things, especially today that you all are REAL people and we truly care about each other even though
we live miles apart. (In my world crying a bucket of tears is a good thing) The ability to FEEL is such a gift even though not so easy at times. You are in my <3. thank you friend

I have read the myth busting article on ROM and I have commented on my thoughts of how ridiculous that is. I guess I was just wondering how that had worked for
@yellowstone using that philosophy in his recovery. I receive a hard time at PT for doing about 1/5 of rep.s I am told to do. I do gentle and slow and listen to my knee, who (I think I will name her......don't know her name yet.....any thoughts?) has been more sore and stiff these past few days.

Yes my knee looked pretty normal on the outside but it did have a red streak running across it. I pointed that out to my PAt and to the person who took out my staples! and they said since it didn't feel overly hot that they weren't worried. I know you take MRSA seriously! It's the PA that you are seeing that I am hoping will too.

@hopefaith Good luck today with your appointment. I hope i'm not too late with the wishes, this time difference catches me out. You're up and about posting when I should be in bed sometimes.

Good morning. Some of you it is afternoon. I posted on @chestnc's thread, but I will repeat. I almost took quite a tumble last night. I just had to have some toast and jam at almost midnight. Downstairs of course. As I was going down with my crutch and other hand on the bannister, I tripped. Instead of going down onto my bum, somehow I dropped the crutch and took the stairs as though the house was on fire. I "ran" down the stairs. It was completely spontaneous, (not in a good way) but something inside me just said run down the stairs instead of falling. I would have fallen had I not run. I am very sore and both knees are just aching so much. Even my arms and hands hurt. It must have looked like something out of Americas home videos, (do they still do that?) but it wasn't so funny. I have come to hate stairs, and I wish my home was on one level. I need to have all my stash, as you have described it, up here with me. (I know this, I truly do.) I had to share this, as I am aching all over and feel like a big baby right now.

On a brighter note, I must have some coordination left somewhere in me.

@RestAssured I am so sorry, but I find threads, but not a description of what you went through. I do see others response to what sounds like a horrendous experience. I am glad this worked out in such an unbelievable way.

@busylizzie thank you so much for your thoughts. It is 7:45 a.m. so your timing is perfect! I will give you all an update. I am pretty optimistic. I am concerned about my ROM (did I really say that) especially after flying down the stairs unexpectedly last night.

I am so sorry to hear about your stair experience, but if you are looking for a laugh, check out the social toom and find my thread "How to fall gracefully on cement!" It wasn't funny at the time, but when I realized that I was going to be fine, I wrote this little set of instructions! :heehee:

Oh, my you are an athlete!
Hope you are none the worse for wear after your race down the stairs, and you receive a good report from the PA today.

Oh goodness, what a frightening experience on the stairs, I hope there are no after effects for you. Good luck with your appointment today, do let us know how you get on.

Well done on saving yourself from a fall. I bet you were pretty freaked out, though. You may need to up your pain meds a bit for the short run. :console2:

Well done on saving yourself from a fall, @hopefaith !

Is there any way that you could make your "nest" downstairs for a while - at least until the soreness from your latest escapade has worn off? Rest up for a while, pamper yourself until the soreness goes.
