MUA Hello, its been a while!

My ROM was never great...at most it got to 105 on a VERY good day. I went to pt for months and never could get it past 98 or so.

Now I am trying to come up with my OWN plan, bought a three wheel.bike since riding my regular bike was treacherous! Idk, I am a klutz naturally; not having full use of knee makes it much worse.

I would say...the pain had subsided so I.just kind of adapted to a less satisfactory lifestyle with a slight limp, one stair at a time kind of thing. The gym tonight was my FIRST step to getting really aggressive (on my own) and start forcing it.

The MUA on Nov was a waste of time, my doc wasn't very interested in doing arthroscopy to see if maybe scar tissue was holding me back..

You can use the three-wheeler as a stretching tool by simply pedalling backwards. Lower the saddle until you can just about, with discomfort, rotate the pedals. Then do so for about a minute, many times a day. As soon as you can make a rotation easily right from the start, lower the saddle a little bit (1/4" or so).

Hi carabeara,
Sorry to hear you are having continuing troubles, and the MUA was not helpful.
Sounds like you need a new OS, with your OS retiring. With your troubles you will need a surgeon who specializes in revisions or complex knee reconstruction, they have the experience to determine what is going on with your knee. If you like @Jamie can help you locate someone in your area.
Roy has some good ideas for using your three wheeler to help with ROM.

I am sorry to read about your issues, and I am very troubled to read of your OS's indifference. Perhaps get a second opinion to see what is going on---you should not have to endure this type of lifestyle---maybe a different perspective to get you moving in the right direction?

I'm searching for providers in my insurance...unfortunately, the highest recommended ones are not in my plan. Im stiff and feels swollen today but def better than last night...that scared me.

You're right....I.have to get to the bottom of this. I am busy with work and convinced myself I couldn't take the time I needed. But I'm too young to live my life this way

Roy that is a great idea.

I think that somehow, some way, you need to make an appt. with the right OS who will get you fixed up---like I said, you should be enjoying things, not merely enduring things or putting up with them.
he stiff knee bent past my ROM and ta da! Im.swollen and hobbled with pain just as if I had had an.mua today. (The last one was a complete waste of time).
I cannot see you damaging the implant---I am betting that, like what Roy said, you just strained the soft tissues around the joint---ice and elevate and rest and it should take care of those issues.

Even if a specialist is not in your insurance plan, you might want to at least meet with him and discuss your situation. Sometimes these doctors work with someone who needs their expertise and doesn't have insurance to cover it. It's aways worth a try. You might have to pay for an office visit, but most of the time that can be negotiated down to what insurance would have paid them. Any lab work or imaging probably could be done within your insurance network, if the surgeon would agree to that.

@carabeara I've merged your first recovery thread in with your latest thread because I think it's a good idea to keep all your history handy as you continue to work on your ROM. That way we'll always have a full picture of what you've experienced.

I'm running into the same problem, I've gotten a couple of excellent recommendations for a new OS in FL (we move down next week) and neither of them are in my plan. Guess the search will continue.

Thank you Jamie! You are awesome...it helps me to go back....

Pax, my providers are now in the system! It just happened, so hang in there, and I had called months ago asking if they would consider. When the ACA first kicked in, NO ONE here wanted to be tainted by "obamacare" lol. But now so many people have it, they were missing out. I'm happy!

Going to get records today...more later

That's great! Hope things work out.

I noticed you trashed your knee in HS and as a firefighter, me too, small world!

And you're in Fl! It is a small world

I'm a more recent transplant though, I was a firefighter in Illinois. So fun having your gear freeze to the ground in the winter, not! :heehee:

Oh I was a firefighter in Baltimore area, in my heyday! Glad not now though :) more updates later...going to pick up records

Heard that, back when we were young and strong. Take care!

I am glad to read that you have found some providers that you can see---you have had this going on for a while and it is time to get your life back on the right track!

That's great news! Good luck going forward.

Ordered records to be sent...the docs here want to see records before they will take you on. Say what?

I had to gather all my information before anyone would see me for a second opinion after my TKR. In a way, that was the most difficult part.
