Look at you guys, kneeling, making complicated meals, you're all troopers!

@LaylaHips I got the recipe for bone broth from @Happydale. I made beef, and it is delicious. I bookmarked her recipe but probably best if you ask her first. She also has one for chicken.

@uva55 you were able to get up using the TKR Knee....isn't that great? It's scary at first but you did it.

Haha to the comments about getting on our knees. It had been years for me, too, as the getting up was so awkward. Also why I had to give up tub baths.
:bath::no-fin:

@TML yes, awesome feeling beginning to live again! A long haul.:catdance:

Last night we had to put down my beloved rescue kittie Marigold. She had been living back at my friend's rescue since my surgery, as she had stopped eating and needed hand feeding and daily infusions, none of which I could do then. I'd had her for about a year or so. She had had many medical issues and had been abandoned at the pound when my friend rescued her and I fell in love with her. She had continued to have a lot of personality even thru her problems but over the past week had just declined rapidly. She was in kidney failure, refused feeding, was lethargic, emaciated , non-responsive. We discussed over several days and finally decided she had no quality of life. It's heartbreaking to make this decision, always, but it comes down to whose needs are being served by postponing..... Very sad. RIP Marigold. (from Downton Abbey). But Bella is healthy and happy so that's all good.
I know, it's non-knee related.

I'm sorry you had to let Marigold go. :console2:
It's always a hard decision - I know, I've had to do it several times - but I think it was the kindest one for her.
You'll miss her, for sure, but you gave her a happy year.

Oh no, I am so sorry about your lost. But, you gave her a good life and you made the correct decision. When they quit eating while being under medical care, it's time to let them go. Being a rescuer the last 20 years, I've had to let a few go. It hurts deep inside, but knowing you did what was best should bring you peace.

@mamazipp, if you clink on your name twice another menu will come up on the left hand side. There you will find the 'watched threads' selection. I use it all the time.

Greetings mamazipp
So sorry to hear about your beloved Marigold, sending hugs and well wishes to you :kittykiss:
Glad to hear you are climbing up stairs and hills...how awesome!

I'm so sorry, but so happy you and the poor little critter had a good year together. You did a good thing, Mamazipp!
Also, I just read a post of yours on another thread from a few weeks ago, where you were amused at yourself about worrying when you got up from low toilets in a public facility, that you might lean too hard in the sink. I had exactly the same fear the other day! Nothing to grab onto but the sink, and I was thinking how my going to explain this if I rip the sink right off of the wall?

I'm so sorry about Marigold. And I think it IS knee related! Added stress during our stressful recovery-- it's good to share them, I believe.

Thanks to all for the kind thoughts about Marigold. She was truly a one and only, with her funny little lopsided walk, and her need for a little cat stairway so she could get up on my bed...she couldn't jump. I'd be sitting on my bed and I'd see her little face slowly appearing....rising like the sun.

Tired of having pain in that same darn spot. Go away spot! Today I told myself to take a power walk and really work my foot, heel to toe and pressure as I lift off. It was more comfy walking this way. Also tried to pay very close attention to my gait, in the theory that since my leg was straightened from slightly knock kneed to neutral, that's gotta affect my walking and maybe that pain is my quad tendon or nerve being stretched in a new way. Who knows? Gotta make up something to go on, right? Anyway the power walk went well, I didn't have to sit at all on the convenient benches all over town, but by the time I headed home I was exhausted. But, no harm.....it's no worse. I do believe it's partly my gait. Walking in my new bionics which are comfortable. Have to go get a new pair of Asics too. And give away all of my shoes, boo hoo! They are all worn on the outer edges where I supinate and reinforce my old gait. That can't be good.

The perplexing thing is that I can walk up hills with no pain but can't do stairs with no pain. I am going to find some hills to walk (besides my daughter's driveway) and at least strengthen my quads that way. Then we'll see.

@greatlakes yes, the toilet can be a problem for sure, still. No one else understands these serious issues!

@sistersinhim I was able to turn off the emails, but now I don't get any alerts. So I just have to troll the new posts until maybe I can turn on alerts without also activating email. And now, my in box is lonely........

@mamazip, hover over your name and a menu comes down. There you can choose 'alert preferences' and another box will drop down. There you can use whatever you would like to have done.
