THR Groin pain turned the corner at 9 months

Wow…..I agree. Something is definitely not right with your hip. Is your ER at an orthopedic hospital? Sometimes the ER staff doesn’t always have in-depth experience with joint issues. But at least they could do some imaging to see if anything shows up. Hopefully they might contact your surgeon if he’s connected with the hospital you go to.

I’m so sorry this is happening to you. I know you have to be beyond frustrated. It truly sounds like more than just soft tissue problems. The spasms especially would concern me.

Feeling a little better tonite. Step counter shows 210 steps probably has something to do with feeling better.
I have been able to do gentle ankle pumps, quad sets, and very gentle gluteal sets.

No words, just sending a ((hug))

Oh no, so sorry.
If you go to ER let us know what’s going on if they have any advice for you.

I am sorry that you're struggling, Pumpkin. I hope you're feeling better this morning and I wish you the best for your appointment on Wednesday.
@Pumpkin

My hip has been feeling better, still painful and limiting how far I can walk. Had it gotten worse I would have gone to the ER.
Wednesday I have a PT appointment, Thursday I see my surgeons PA.
This is the second time this has happened, this time is worse than the first episode of hip pain. I plan to push for tests ruling out Iliopsoas impingement.

My right leg and hip continue to feel better, still on a walker and able to walk longer household distances before my hip starts hurting. I hope my Thursday appointment will be the start of figuring out what is going on with my hip.
My left leg is sore, my baker cyst has burst for the umpteenth time. I felt drops of water running down my calf yesterday which is the hallmark of a burst bakers cyst. I have a compression sleeve on my calf and will just have to wait for it to heal. Worst part is my calf feels weird when this happens.
We have a carpet cleaner coming tomorrow, my husband has done most of the work clearing the floor and getting our house ready.
I am looking forward to going out to lunch while the carpets are being cleaned.

Oh DO enjoy your lunch out tomorrow; you surely can use a mood elevator!

We had a nice Mexican food lunch yesterday, left overs with be dinner tonight.

PA visit went well, x-ray shows a well integrated implant and no heterotrophic ossification. So those are off the table as the cause of my groin pain.
I asked about iliopsosas impingement, she did not think my symptoms were severe enough after resistance testing. She did order a MARS MRI to look for tendinosis/tendonitis in the ligament.
If the MRI comes back positive they will do an injection into the tendon sheath to get the inflammation down.

When we go to San Diego in November, I am planning on renting a scooter. The 3 or 4 wheeled kind so I can go along the beach walkway and to other nearby places.

Hi @Pumpkin - it sounds as if you are making progress but I'm sorry to hear your recovery is complicated by a recurrent Bakers cyst. Hubby had that experience last year - the pain was excruciating - like acid rather than water running inside the calf. :censored:
Planning to hire a mobility scooter for your holiday is a great idea - I did that after my first THR and it was a great help.
Best wishes.

@Newhip_Pol
The first time it burst I spent the night in the hospital, it was excruciatingly painful. It took about 2 months for the swelling to go down.
Now it is not too bad when it bursts, just makes my leg feel weird.

Love me a Mexican dinner, I think I could survive on queso, chips & salsa if I had to!
Good idea getting a scooter so you can fully enjoy your vacation.

My MRI is set for the day after we return from San Diego, I was surprised to receive a date so soon. I will be glad to get that behind me.
My right foot has been very sore since PT on Thursday, I think it was just a coincidence. Finally today it is starting to settle down.

It's good news you received a date as soon as you did. I hope you enjoy your trip to San Diego.
Hopefully your foot is feeling even better today. :fingersx:
Happy Sunday!
@Pumpkin

The scooter I rented is working perfectly, I am able to go up and down the beach walk and see all the nearby sights, shops, and restaurants. Without the scooter I would be limited to the room.
It is an easy rental, 145 US for 3-10 days, came charged and ready to go. When we leave I park the scooter at the front desk and the rental company will pick it up.
My R hip and R foot have been very unhappy, I have pain at night and during the day if I put weight on my hip. Very happy I have the MRI scheduled for Tuesday.
We have a ground floor room with a view of the walkway and ocean, great for people watching.

I'm so glad the scooter is saving your vacation... and hope you get some solid answers in just a few days. Sending a ((hug))

We arrived home yesterday, laundry is done and put away.
My MRI is at 5:20 today, looking forward to it, sort of. I am still tired from the return trip and am hoping I doze through most of the MRI.
My hip and foot settled down the last two days of our vacation, I was glad to be comfortable the last few days.

I survived the MRI, the techs were really nice considering I was the last of the day. My right hip did not like being held in internal rotation and spasmed during the MRI, hope they did not ruin the images.
Seemed like it took forever, I was very glad to get out of there and home. The report should be ready in a couple of days.
