TKR Greetings fellow knee surgery travelers :)

@Hippalong
I‘ve moved your post above out of the Monthly team thread as we reserve that thread for surgery date information, and so members can see who else has surgery the same month. We prefer all other comments and discussion to take place in a pre op or recovery thread, such as this one. Enjoy interacting with others who are on the same journey, here in this thread.
Sorry I've done this before, I have zero brains today :heehee:

TKR scheduled for July 3, I was originally June 19th but was rescheduled due to needing a different femoral component (due to metal allergy).
Oh not long now then, I'm on the 8th. How are you feeling?
My anxiety seems to come and go in waves, sometimes I feel like I've got this totally handled and other times I'm like....omg omg omg what am I even doing!?!

So, probably feeling quite normal :rotfl:!

How about you?

Try to keep busy!

Is your freezer stocked with favorite precooked meals?

Have you decided on where to "nest" during the day (recliner? sofa?) and made sure your icing stuff can be set up near there, along with enough tabletop space for pad, pen, meds, beverages, reading matter, electronic devices, etc?

Have you considered garments or tiny pouches to ensure your cell phone is literally on you at all times, just in case?

I'm pretty much the same as you, just want it over with now so I dont have to sit and worry. It's not the Op just the recovery :oyvey:

I'm lucky that my hubby is taking time off to be my carer lol and he's a good cook so meals are sorted! I have an ice pack, bed cage, grabber, mini exercise bike, toilet frame and booster cushion for under my knee. Hopefully that's everything ???:chinstroke:

Freezer is semi-stocked and my mother in law has said she was cooking things to freeze for both of us as she has a non knee-related procedure a month after I do so I think I'm good on the food department.

I've got my nest pretty well set up - we're going to test out the ice-machine placement tomorrow, I made a dry-erase board with my various appointment dates on it to help my husband keep track of who/what/when/where as he is my primary support during all of this. I'm trying to make it easier on him so it's easier on me.

I'm nervous, but ready and as painful as recovery will be it's also a path to a better quality of life for me and my family and that is what it's really about :)

you sound like me with all the preparations...I keep thinking "do I have everything, what have I forgotten? I have most of the things you mentioned save for a couple - is the mini exercise bike one of those peddler things that you can use on the floor? I have a recumbent bike and I dislike how huge it is, it makes it hard to place anywhere without it being in the way so I was looking at the smaller versions

My husband works from home so thankfully he'll be here to help if I need it. Now if the next two days could go by quickly that would be nice, I just want to be on the other side of this big step!

Two days!!!! We will be waiting for you to start a knee recovery thread of your own whenever you feel up to it!!!!

I find it cathartic sorting what I need etc, stops my brain overworking! Yes the mini bike just sits on the floor, it's quite good pre and post Op apparently and is easily stored/moved too. I hope the next couple of days aren't too bad for you and that they pass quickly, I keep thinking well this Time next week I'll be on the other side. :):) :-) (:

Hi Hippalong. Looks like you and I share the same surgical date. How are you doing on this day before? I’ll see you on the healing side soon! Here’s to easy surgeries and smooth sailing with the post-op healing process.

Ahh so we do, thankyou for the thoughtful message! I am feeling nervous but just want it over with now. Hope you are feeling ok and I will be happy to see you on the post Op side. Wishing you all the very best

I think I am feeling about the same as you today! I’m thinking positive good thoughts for us both. See you on the post-op side soon. Take care…..and remember to breathe! That is something my partner tells me frequently and it is amazing how much those deep breaths help calm me.
