Be sure your tags are for Pumpkln.....that's with a "k" an "l" (which looks like an "i") and an "n". There is another member who has the name Pumpkin with a "k" an "i" and an "n".

I know it's difficult sometimes to let go of the feelings when things don't go as we planned. But it is impossible to change the past. And, other than perhaps a lesson learned, it serves no useful purpose to try and figure out why someone did something that seems wrong. We cannot control the behavior of others. We can only be responsible for our reaction to life's challenges. We have the power to choose whether to learn from an experience and go forward to make it better or to worry about all the whys and what ifs of the past. The choice you make will determine whether you are able to move ahead or remain stuck.

You are not alone in this. Some of your trusted team may have not responded the way you wanted, but you have all of us, your BoneSmart family, in your corner. Please take strength and encouragement from us to bolster your outlook and to help you take the steps you need to get going. You will feel so much better once you begin to take charge of your situation. You have the power to make it better!

Hi Pjmc, here's the thing and a lesson I had to learn the hard way. We can't change the past (darn it). The best we can do is try to adapt and move forward and your 1st step is to get yourself set up with a consult from a revisionist specialist. It sucks when people we know and trust to take care of us drop the ball, but you have to do what's best for you and know that one of these days, that saying of 'what goes around comes around', will pay off. Don't give your old OS a second thought. I'm sorry you're in pain and feeling deserted, but take this as your chance to move forward and get yourself all fixed up! Nothing to lose at this point, right? ((hugs))

I am not done beating myself up . I chose the dr I made the mistake .
I do not trust my ability to find the right dr at this time .

Start those calls, they are going to want x rays, surgery report, sticker sheet etc. those can take awhile to obtain.
It is hard but you will need to get past the ortho and his poor treatment of you. Took me months, he is not worth the aggravation and worry, it only effect you.
Not everyone has great stories, myself being one of them.
Time to get unstuck and move on to finding answers to your continuing pain.
:console2:

@Pumkln
Dumb question what are sticker sheets ?
I do hear you and understand what you mean.
I wish the dr had to be held to some accountability . Truth is I have been down this road before . When this all began . Thankfully I had a great ortho repair it to where life could go on. 1978
That being said I thought I would not be in this position now. I had never been this miserable pity me fool .
I was a fighter til this .

Sticker sheet has a copy of the stickers from your implant, has size, type, brand of cement used, and serial numbers.
Time for a big ole pity party for you, I will bring Ice Cream, and Cake, calorie free of course :heehee:.

@Pumpkln
Sounds great a party is in order . Calorie free is best too .
I had no idea what the sticker sheet was , thanks for informing me . I guess I go to former ortho for that .
I will try to make myself call Monday . How I dread dealing with that office . It wil be nice to wrap up loose ends . I am betting they will charge me for everything .
Pity part will be a quick oneas I never was one to have those .
The next party will be a celebration a party for both of us having our problem knees fixed right .

I questioned if my replacement was too big as it never felt right .My GP said we'll you have big knees . Thanks . I am 5'2" with shoes how huge can my knees be ?
The main pain I have it in the area above the knee tightness by my femur plate/screws .
Also the the back of my knee has the extremely painful catch spot. The knee itself has been and still is so tight not much movement .

Your title is changed.

When do you get these pains? And exactly where on the inside of your leg/knee are they?

Can you tell me the exact site of your pain using this chart?

I have had multiple surgeries in my lifetime. Things I have learned from them: Surgeries that involve breaking bone are a LOT more painful and traumatic vs. soft-tissue surgeries. Surgeries that are traumatic (and my rtkr was one of the worst) take approx a year+ to recover from. The best healer of all after a traumatic surgery is TIME. Having a TKR doesn't completely take away the pain - it will probably greatly reduce it, but it won't completely take away the pain.

I hope I read the chart correctly .
I feel this is a test of my sanity could it be phantom pain ? As I think these should be new parts . I do have my own patella .
The pain is crazy bad . I do walk and getting up seems somewhat easier post surgery .
I know the pain in left hip and knee is from my gait being changed . I am told I used to swing my leg from my hip to move . I was so used to walking with the 30 rom worked full time in an active job .

Thanks

@NuNe4Me
Thank you, yes ortho said post op my bones had fused so that would involve extra cutting correct? I have had four surgeries on this right femur. The first from a self appointed God , which I believe was unnecessary and did damage. Confirmed by Orthopedic surgeon that corrected my femur by rebreaking it then doing a bone graft plate and screws. Thanks to him I was able to walk again :) yep, had to relearn to walk at 18 years of age.

You have been through so much. I trust you have great Drs.
Your surgery was recent. How is your recovery?

Yes @Josephine
Thank you thank you.
It seems to be so tight. Even though I have had the plate and screws this is the first time I noticed the pain there, since having that surgery. That scar is red and swollen too. Was not before this.

What is your expert advice for what I should do to lessen this pain?

I am researching about it now. Going to this library to read the post omit band syndrome too.

The pain is that as if someone/something is pounding it like a sudden sharp hammer hitting it .

I am impressed with the information on this site It is better than google I just search the topic and find answers. Thank you for all the hard work that must go into putting it all together

@Josephine @Jamie and everyone else.

I had a big problem with my IT Band. Josephine (thank you Josephine) gave me some stretches/exercises to do. Before my TKR surgery, my pain levels were running between 7-9 for the day, for my knee. Now it runs between 1-3 for a day. So you can see my pain level, for my knee, has dropped drastically. Did the TKR turn out the way I expected? No. Things were a lot different than I had anticipated. But I can walk - I am not in a wheelchair. And for that I am grateful.

Hi Pmjc! Wow! IT band problem...Josephine, as always, could be on to something! At 12 days post revision op, my IT band delaying quad activation which is triggering all kinds of ancillary problems for me. PT focusing on stretching IT band which I am not to do on own and after one session knee happier today. Maybe this is your answer. I'd be all over it if I were you. Good luck and sending you all kinds of good thoughts. You deserve a break!!!
