Last night's sleep wasn't so great. Not able to sleep on my side after that one blissful 45 minutes a couple of days ago. Kept waking up to readjust to a comfortable position. Otherwise things are going pretty well. My 1st knee is feeling a bit better, 2nd knee is also, but still pretty painful with walking. I have no pain when resting/reclining. Pain in bed seems to be from being in one position too long. Standing up in one spot for any length of time is a no-no. I've been having some pain in the heel on the right (2nd knee). Knee, leg, and foot are still a bit swollen but much improved over the last few days. I can see my ankle bones this morning on the right. I haven't been able to wear shoes at all, but luckily have 2 pair of slippers that fit. All the swelling seems to be gone on the left.

Got on the scale this morning and I am down 10 pounds total after both surgeries. My appetite still has not returned completely and many things do not appeal to me, especially anything spicy - so no hot dogs, no pizza, etc.
I must sit down and go through my bills and bank account this weekend. I've put it off way too long. Good thing everything is on auto pay.

I remember the thought of paying bills seemed overwhelming. Good thing everything is on autopay for you!

Autopay is the way to go. Sorry your sleep was not comfortable. Losing 10 lbs, awesome.

Everything seems overwhelming doesn't it? Getting to bed, getting up, getting dressed, paying bills, going to the store. Yech! I'm always glad once I get out and see outside my 4 walls though.

Yes it's great to get out and see the world. It's still great, too, to come home, stretch out and do nothing!

I went on auto pay, too. I didn't trust myself to be able to do it correctly for a month or two. I had made a mess of my checkbook, but finally got it straightened out after my head straightened out!

Nothing like autopay! At least I finally looked at my bank account to see how it was doing. I have a huge stack of mail to look at still.

I'd get in big trouble without a checkbook! That I don't need!

I have an app for my banking. I can check it on the spot, wherever I am. Love it!

It's for my bank only. Go to the App Store and type your bank in the search bar. If they have one it should come up.

I already have that and pay all but a couple of my bills online. I guess I still like to keep the checkbook like the old days. I check my online bank account at least 3 times a week. You can't trust snail mail to get your payments to their destinations, and online bill paying is the way to go! I thought you meant their was an app like a checkbook. I guess the bank app is the same thing!

Thank you for the encouragement . Knowing your #2 was a little slower than #1 really helps. I'm impressed you are out and about, doing "normal" stuff. I'll never take the simple stuff for granted again. I can't wait to get my hair cut, but surely won't be able to do that for another week or 20 :).

I bet you feel up to getting your hair cut in a week or two.

I try to only do one thing when I go out. Either out to eat, out to the grocery store, etc. I'm not into "running errands" yet. I'm getting around pretty good but I always use the scooter in the grocery.

Had a terrible night last night. Doubt I slept more than an hour or two. It was drift off for a few minutes, wake up uncomfortable, move around, lay there for a while before falling back to sleep for another few minutes so I'm really sleepy today. Oxycodone and gabapentin and a otc sleeping pill don't seem to be of any help at all. All I take during the day is Tylenol and a Celebrex and I'm good. It will be 4 weeks on Monday for my newest knee.

FG-- do you ice during the night? I've found that if I put on the ice machine (or gel packs) right after I go to bed, relaxing and reading until I drift off, it helps. I usually wake up during the night and take the pads off, then go back to sleep. The one night I decided not to ice, I regretted it. I also found out on knee 1, that side-sleeping felt great, but it ended up irritating my knee (I did it at week 4). Hopefully we can side sleep without negative impact later.

I'm hoping you can nap, rest, ice, nap today. We both have to remember we've undergone huge amount of trauma in a very short timeframe.

You are right about the haircut! I almost took the bandage scissors to it this morning -- I think I'm almost ready for that activity :)

I would also suggest ice at night. It worked well for me in the later weeks, having it on at night.

I'll try the ice again. I don't know how to keep warm though. The last 2 nights I used ice I could not sleep because I was cold right to the core and couldn't sleep until I took it off. Blankets don't seem to help much. So different from the first knee when I slept like a log for 7 or 8 hours straight every night (with the ice).
