 Must have been nice to get noticed by the gentleman.

You sound like you are doing so well and now have two new knees.

I'll bet the sleepiness is the cumulative experience of two major surgeries so close together. Take advantage of the excuse to rest, rest, rest. I'm still spending about 16 hours a day resting and elevating and sometimes icing. And maybe it's all that beauty sleep that has all the guys looking!

@FlaGranny im glad you are doing well. Give yourself some credit, why does he have to be a lonely widower, I'm sure you are an attractive woman!

I think many of us don't like taking pictures, I was one of of those, but when my mom passed away I realized how few pictures I had if her and that makes me very sad, so now I take pictures all of the time so that my kids and grandkids will have lots of memory of me when I'm no longer around some day.

Clara, you have made me think about more pictures. You are right. I have many pictures of my own Mom, mainly because she traveled a lot to visit family and always took photos. For so many years, when I was so heavy, I hid from cameras and it's difficult to change. I guess I still feel like I look the same as I used to.

By the way, I slept great last night. I went to bed at 11, woke up at 4 with some discomfort, took some oxycodone and went back to sleep for another 5 hours. Still waiting for that 7 or 8 hour straight sleep though.

Today is week #3 for knee #2. Week #9 for knee #1. My #1 knee is a bit more painful than it was at first, I guess because of having to take over for knee #2. Getting out and about and went to the mall Saturday - they have wheelchairs they lend so hubby pushed me around. I sat too long though because I was very stiff when I got up to walk to the car. Just this morning was the first time I was able to lift my leg (straight leg lift).

It was probably a bit too soon for the mall, even in a wheelchair, so rest up well today.

I'm glad you can do the leg-lifting now. :yes!::yay:

Very cool about leg lifts! The mall sounds fun but overwhelming right now.

I'm glad you posted about pictures of yourself (or lack thereof). I started gaining weight big time in my 40s and I hardly have any pictures of me for almost a decade. Not fair for my son and future grandchildren.

How did you loose 100 pounds?. I need to loose at least 40. I'm hoping increased mobility will help, but know my relationship with food has got to change.

I lost the 100 pounds over a period of 5 or 6 years in two separate stints with Nutrisystem. I lost 70 pounds, gained back 30 pounds, then lost 60 pounds the second time. I've stayed fairly close to 100 pounds lost. I still need to lose 30 or 35 pounds. I like Nutrisystem because it requires little or no planning, counting, or even thinking much about it.

I have just started back on my Nutrisystem diet. It is so easy and the food is good. This is my third time on it. When I go off, I do good for a while, but then the junk food comes back in and ups the weight. I have gained 8 back since being off of it. It's all my fault because I lost control of my eating. I had no appetite after my TKN for at least 6 weeks. Then it came back and since then, I've gone crazy. Now, this extra 8 pounds is bad for my new knee and has to come off! @FlaGranny, has your appetite come back yet? You are just a few weeks out from your second surgery.

Thanks. I have never tried nutrisystem but will do it at 3 months if my lab is OK. I lost 60 pounds on Optifast but regained it quickly. Nutrisystem looks good online, and your two endorsements make me want to give it a go.

I've lost 11 pounds since knee 1, but I know that won't last. Once my appetite comes back, I'll eat my way through the holidays. Not. These new knees are too precious to be asked to carry my extra weight. I'll still be overweight at 40 pounds, but not obese as I am now.

@sistersinhim I didn't lose my appetite as much this time as I did before. Same meds and everything. My appetite is depressed a little though. Many things I usually like, I don't want at all. The thing that surprises me most is that I've lost my taste for, of all things, coffee.

@sheliac If you try Nutrisystem, get the plan where you get full choice, including frozen food. Also, be aware that Nutrisystem lasagna does not taste as good as grandma's lasagna. The food is good, but it is diet food after all.

The only way I can loose weight is get rid of my boyfriend! He likes to eat out wayyyyy tooo much. I have no self-control at a restaurant.

Thanks for that tip. I won't do anything til 3 months. I have lost my appetite the 2nd time, too. And that is weird about the coffee -- I was a coffee addict, but now even the smell makes me cringe. I'm living mostly on protein shakes, as I know we need lots of protein but I can't stomach meat. I'm starting to wonder if I'm pregnant (I'm 59!) -- the appetite thing reminds me of the first trimester of pregnancy :)

ahhhh the old weight loss confessional. im in that club too. probably have lost close to 500 pounds cumulatively(lise gain cycle). yes nutrisystems, ww, diet to go, low carb, low fat, all of it. i did the best with ww. from 2002_2005 i lost a whopping 170 pounds. yes i was huge. i did gain alot of it back. but from 2012 to now, with cancer, hip surgery infections, gall bladder, brain surgery, tkr, i am holding on to a net loss of 100 and my overall appetite and food desire has stayed lower than when i was younger. it is a lifelong battle for some huh?

Diane, it is a lifetime battle. I was a fat baby and learned to love food way back then. Weighing less will help our whole body, not just our knees. I want to be as healthy as possible. That does not include carrying extra weight around!

Lifelong battle, for sure. I guess I probably have lost and gained 100s of pounds over my lifetime too. My highest weight was 270 some pounds and I know that being overweight a good part of my life wore out my knees ahead of schedule.

Something wonderful happened this morning! I woke up after sleeping 8 hours straight through - went to the bathroom and then back to bed. I fell asleep for another 45 minutes - ON MY SIDE! Oh what a relief to get off my back.

I'm starting to do full revolutions on my recumbent bike - old & new knees. I still have muscle stiffness and soreness in both knees more so in the newest knee, but little pain now and only on certain movement. Almost all the swelling in my left knee is gone now and I can actually see definition in my knee and calf that I haven't seen in years. I can actually see my kneecap. It had been swollen so long from arthritis that I forgot what my knee should look like. I can see the shape of my calf too. The right knee is swollen still, but looks to me about like it did before surgery.

FlaGranny, you're doing great. Wonderful progress. You knew your older new knee would object to doing the extra work after getting your newer new knee -- just like the old knee didn't like carrying your new knee while it recovered. The good news is, they can begin working together now, and your overall recovery will be simultaneous from now on. In the long run, I think you'll be very pleased you did it this way.

That is a great night of sleep and there's nothing like sleeping on your side!

Great to know you are able to sleep comfortably, and so soon! And bicycling a bit. Wonderful!
