Knee Infection Finally Finishing Up

I don't think I realized how large the skin graft is! Holy smokes! You are a rock star! What are they saying about the thigh?

WOW, that is one huge skin graft. Hope the open spot in your other leg heals soon.

Really! I didn't realize before hand how large it would be. It is healing up well and the circulation through it is great. It is funny with the other leg...it is too tight to re-staple, they might have to put a small skin graft on that. We are fixing the fixes:) Now the final surgery will have an even larger cut. The OS told me that he will have to cut mid shin to mid thigh. He will re-cut the inner line of the graft. This reconstruction really is fascinating, I just wish it wasn't my leg.

That really is a huge graft!
I am in awe, not only of the surgeons' skill, but also of your stamina and staunchness. What a hero you are!
My very best wishes for the rest of the procedures. :friends: :loveshwr:

I have some fun time coming so keep the fingers crossed that nothing else goes wrong:) The NASCAR race is here next weekend and our family and some friends like to stay at the campgrounds....little mini-vacation. So we have a 35" Raptor rented from Thursday to Monday. I won't be able to do much around the track but it will be a blast just hanging out with everyone at the camp. I might rent one of those electric carts to get around, otherwise I have the crutches and wheelchair to get around. I am very excited about this!!

Have a great time! You are wise to bring your crutches and wheelchair.

Peggy, I think an electric cart is a great idea! I hope you have a wonderful mini-vacation!

Had a blast. It was a good weekend out of the house.

I get to see the plastic surgeon on Wed. Hopefully I will get a date:)

I'll be looking for it! Will the OS and plastic surgeon operate during the same surgery or will there be two?

That's a good plan! Love when docs work together to make it easier for the patient.

I hope you get a date for the next stage of surgery. Best wishes for your appointment.

What a relief to have to have only one surgery for both things. I wish I could do my knee and shoulder at the same time!

I met with my plastic surgeon today. The big surgery is being bumped back to mid-late January. The open wound on the other leg (donor site) needs to be repaired and healed before they can do the reconstruction and replacement. So next Friday, Dec 2, she will do the repair and put another stitch on a little area of the flap. At least I know that I will not end up in the hospital over Christmas.

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Checking into Mayo for repairs:). Should be home tonight.
