THR Early Birthday

Starting to feel operative pain, but it's not as bad as the arthritis pain
Amazing how that bonecrunching OA pain is gone...
I had my walker driving test with PT. They said I did great. They were right! Had some pain, but was the good kind. Athlete pain as opposed to elderly cripple pain!

Now let's review.:curtsey: Post operative pain due to major carpentry and disturbing every square inch of soft tissue, stretching muscles and tendons out of the way in order to implant a prosthetic hip.
Yes, very sore to walk...and need to walk...but Not Good like athletic pain.
Please don't fall into the "I'm strengthening my muscles when I do enough that they hurt.":nah:
They are healing...and just need minimum moving about right now while your body does the Business of healing itself.:)
I'm the resident hand wringer worry wart, so Slow you Go please.:beg:

Hope you will be home soon.

@59billy Ask for anti-nausea medication if you need it. It sometimes take awhile for your body to adjust to new medication. Sounds like you are doing really well!

They tried a couple of different things, but finally a scopalomine patch got me sorted. So now I can tanke pain meds withiwi needing a whoosie bag.

Stairs training was quick. O had the impression on that the PT and tech are used to people being slower to adapt. I did have some adantages

1. I have a background in fitness, so the idea of going from "can't" to "can" is very familiar.
1a. I have pretty good upper body strength.

2. My hip was already so destroyed that was alresal using a lot of the "post op" skills and equipment.

Got home safe and sound. Sweet had to help me on the steps. Good thing she's pretty strong!

Home nurse and PT should come today. I don't like having strangers in my house, but I'm learning to handle lots of things.

Yeah, but... I feel like a lot of the muscles on that side are weak from disuse. OS told me to put weight on it "as tolerated", but then he said "20%" just to shut the PT up.

I'm not pushing myself all that hard; I get up to use the bathroom or to take a pill. I know I need to take it slow.

But feel free to fuss over me!

But feel free to fuss over me!

Good Morning
Oh, you know us old hens will be fussing....can't help ourselves.
Glad to hear they have the nausea under control.
Being home is so much more relaxing than the surgery site. Hopefully you like the PT and Nurse today
and consequently won't mind them being in your home. Let us know how it goes.
Hope today is a good one!
@59billy

I'm glad the oxycodone is helping with your pain. I wondered how effective it would be after surgery. I had it pre op and it barely touched the OA pain, occasionally knocking the edge off. Hope you are comfy and enjoying home.

Glad to see you are home with that sense of humour intact.... enjoying your posts...
Your birthday pressie will prove to be the best one you’ve ever got... in due time!!
Enjoy your oxy whilst you can still get it!!!

Yeah, you're still entertaining without even realizing, read back your typos after you're off the meds.
No editing them now :no-fin: You'll find it amusing later.
You had me giggling after Post # 68.
Your normally perfect spelling and grammar is under attack by the big O :heehee:

I hear you on the attention span. I couldn't absorb anything I read or remember if I asked hubs a question, or just thought I did, then worried that if I had....I couldn't recall what he said.

Hey, mush brain is better than pain. And it's all only temporary.

Happy Healing!
@59billy

Nice to be among people who understand. The typos shall remain to remind me how it was. And it's not like I need to be super alert right now.

Had a little breakfast, then took Amy antibiotic and a Percocet. It's been an hour, and no stomach upset. More blessings to count!

Looking forward to asking the nurse all the questions I forgot to ask at the hospital. My operative leg is still externally rotated about 35 degrees, and I'm hoping that's going to fix itself as the soft tissues heal.
