THR Double hippy happy<

Lol @SarahUK not sure lads can ever sort themselves out!! My 20 year old rang from uni to tell me the printer wouldn’t scan!! Asked him what he expected me to do as he’s in Lancaster and I’m in Birmingham!! Was horrified, but not surprised, that he couldn’t think for himself. Had to tell him to google it, use a mates or go to the library :loll:

@Jackie222 My 2 oldest go to Lancaster & Morecambe College, one is 19, the other is 17. Both want a career in the RAF.
Sounds like something one of my lot would do and expect me to work a miracle of some sort...I'm not a miracle worker, wish I was :heehee:

What a coincidence @SarahUK! Conor is in his 2nd year doing mechanical engineering. He is really happy there. It’s a beautiful city and we really enjoy visiting him there. My youngest (17) originally wanted to join the RAF and was in the air cadets for many years. But that now seems to have gone by the wayside and he’s thinking about accountancy !

My 2 are in their first year doing BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Public Services. I have 2 going to air cadets, the youngest wants to go but until he's 12 he can't. My 14 year old wants to be a photographer in the RAF or something to do with drones etc. At the rate I'm going, all 4 of them will be joining.

I have a son who is 26. I am 63-he calls me for computer advice. Something wrong with this picture.

You both have boys to be proud of.

Kids! Gotta love em!
@SarahUK
Once you have them it's difficult to imagine life without them
Troubles and all....they're a blessing!

They are indeed a blessing, even with all the troubles they cause.
They all work hard, well maybe not the youngest so much yet but he'll get there.
I'm proud of all of them, they've all achieved something, no matter how big or small.

On the hip and ankle front, hip feels great, still some muscular pain but thats handled easily, ankle is not giving any pain - haven't knocked it this morning...phew :)
I've just managed to walk the short distance in the living room with no crutch and a slight limp, things are improving!!!
See PT today, let's see what his verdict will be.

Glad you haven’t added any knocks to the ankle @SarahUK. Hope pt has positive assessment for you. So happy hip is feeling great.

Hi @SarahUK
Good luck with PT today.
I hope your visit goes well. Update us later if you have time...
Congrats on steps without the crutch. Consider heel- toe walking to lose the limp
and in turn any assistive devices. Took concentration for me after walking sloppily for so long.
Hope today is great!

Just back from PT. He's happy with how the heel is healing. I noticed that the back of my shoe is slightly irritating my heel, any advice on backless shoes for the short term?
Wants me to start favouring the right leg a bit more as I'm still favouring the left.
He'd like me to start trying to do stairs normally, both up and down. I can do up but still wary of going down.
Balance is improving on the right leg, he had me up on my toes on just the right side.
Don't need to see him now for a month, unless something major happens.

@Layla I'm considering getting a cane and try to wean myself off the crutch.

All in all, a good day :)

I only wear sandals. In the winter I wear a Teva sandal that is fully enclosed but easy to slip in with elastic ties. They have great arch support and I no longer wear in soles. I hope you find footwear that works for you.

Glad pt visit went well. Good luck shoe shopping!

Hi @SarahUK
Hope you find some backless shoes. I know they're out there.
Good luck with the cane. I didn't mind it while I used it.
I wasn't comfortable with crutches, I tried them out but favored the cane.
Warm wishes for a great Thursday!

Truth be told, I hate shoe shopping. Always have, never been one for having more pairs of shoes than I can wear. My staples are a pair of walking boots, a pair of trainers and one pair of nice shoes for special occasions and that's it, maybe a pair of warm boots for winter.

Going to have a look for a suitable cane at the weekend when I'm out. Going to a cane might just be the kick up the backside I need to motivate me further.

Had a massive crying session last night, everything over the last month hit me hard. Doesn't get any easier but having been there before, I know what to expect and how to handle it.

Hope everyone has a great Thursday :)

A good cry is sometimes just what we need @SarahUK. Tears have a proven therapeutic value. Sometimes we just have to let the floodgates open and get it out, then we can move on.

I think you will like the cane. Make sure to have the height right. I have a basic black one, a blue one and a red one. Liked to change them up to suit my mood, but I also used them several weeks prior to first surgery (figured if I had to use them I would try to rock em).

@MammaT I do feel a bit better after floodgates last night. No doubt it'll happen again when I least expect it to.
As for the cane, I think I will. It's just finding one that I like, if it's plain, I might snazz it up a bit or get one of the lads to do some artistic work on it :)

I hate shoe shopping too. Not into it.
But I have to go as never worked out on fit trying to do online.
I put it off for months and more but really happy with it now.
Crocs and Birkenstock make some backless comfy clogs.

I'm tempted by Crocs @Mojo333 . Don't want to spend too much on anything as I'll only need them for the short term while heel heals, plus one of my lads keeps taking my shoes as they fit him!!! Good job I like a boyish style :heehee: I never buy shoes online if I can get to the shop, like you, I can't trust the fit is right.
Need to get active again and lose this half a stone I've put on, but until heel/hip is sorted I'm having to limit what I do.
Roll on Saturday and give me some good news, or bad, either way, I want to know what's going on.

Hi Sarah!
Wish I was more disciplined in the area of shoes, so does my husband, all I'm sayin :heehee:
Hope you have luck cane shopping this weekend. I bet you'll quickly get used to using one.
Using one felt wobbly and insecure coming off the walker, but I quickly got used to it.

I'm sorry you were struggling emotionally the other night. Sometimes you just need to get it out.
Hopefully it released some stress and you felt better afterward. You've had a rough month, Sarah.
Maybe a little shopping on the weekend for a cane or shoes....will be a pleasant distraction. Sure hope so.
Hate to think of you feeling blue.

I hope today is a good day. Wishing you a sunny, cheery, peaceful weekend!
